Flavors were great and they have a unique selection. It got pretty packed in the shop, so you will have to weave your way through customers during rush hours.

“Vanilla Bean Latte (hot) is amazing. I loved it so much I visited another Dolcezza the next day to have a large cup of it. The interior of this particular location is beautiful. Location is good too you can just sit next to the window and watch outside. Right by the ChinaTown gate. There’s charger ports and the washroom is so beautiful (had overhead speakers playing lovely music). This spot is great all around I recommend it!!! It’s got a buzz to it I spent about two hours just seated in this cafe I was alone and just had a pleasant time“

“MDI has the most delicious ice cream and you can really taste the care and quality ingredients that go into the product. Interesting array of flavors, amazing texture and mouthfeel, and I love that this place is not afraid to get adventurous with flavors. Black Sesame--yum! At the same time, their most simple, traditional flavors are among my favorites--Strawberry and Cookies and Cream are absolutely delightful. I appreciate that this place continues to keep their prices very reasonable, especially given how crazy expensive food has gotten in 2024. “I love the hot cocoa from Dolci Gelati at the National Zoo for Zoo Lights. I bought 1 for me and 1 for a friend & went back again for a second night for more on the last night of Zoo Lights. Whipped cream, chocolate & caramel syrup is added to the top. It’s the best treat on a cold winter night or day at the zoo. Thank you!! I’ll keep coming back & bring friends.“

Her descriptions of items completely changed the dinner choices the three of us had after looking at the menu. Ty highlighted new items on the menu with nuance and apt descriptions. “I was searching the universe for lavender honey ice cream as a special treat for Valentine’s Day. My wife and I had it a million moons ago in Palm Springs and we loved it so much. I came across Moorenkos and met Susan who is so, so nice. She was able to get me a nice supply of the lavender honey ice cream and we also stocked up on cinnamon cappuccino. Omg! “Van Leeuwen is always a solid choice for ice cream. Although it is pricey, you can get one of their pints in a store at the same price as a scoop from the shop. It's still nice to go try things out though, and get unique flavors, like the Penn Quarter Porter x DC Brew, which was quite yummy“

“If you haven’t tried dolcezza you are really missing out. They have incredible flavor including some adventurous ones that switch up every now and then. Definitely the best gelato place in the area, is it the only one in the area that’s good? ? they also have ridiculously good coffee! I always take a bag home with me to brew. They don’t have a lot of seats inside the store but there is more seats outside if the day is nice.“

“Really tasty ice cream with incredibly creative flavors and combinations. Their burnt orange and their berry crumble are some of the tastiest ice creams I've ever had. They move through lines quickly and there's a nice seating area upstairs that usually has a couple open seats. Only downside is that it's pretty expensive -- $8 for just 1 medium sized scoop. Even for DC that's pretty bad. Definitely worth trying though!

At first, I was going to grab a slice of pizza because I was impressed by the look of the slices in the display case. “Having seen Ice n Slice on Instagram, I ordered a doro wat pizza and cheese pizza for the kids.

Both pizzas had a nice yeasty crust. The cheese pizza was actually very lovely. The tomato sauce was slightly sweet with a little nod to Ethiopian spices.

The doro wat pizza drew us in. Obviously you can’t get much more creative (or iconically dc) than a doro wat pizza. There were pieces of chicken baked into the pizza, as well as little crumbs of feta. It was rich and succulent, heavy without being over the top.

The pies held up well through the drive home to the suburbs. That being said, both pizzas were $64, which while definitely worth it, is a little steep to become a frequent occurrence.

“I recently visited Pitango. This charming coffee & gelato is amazing. Mylatte was perfectly crafted—rich and creamy with just the right amount of froth. I paired it with a delicious biscotti that was crunchy and not too sweet, making it the ideal complement. My husband tried the cortado, which was beautifully balanced with strong coffee flavor and silky milk. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff made our visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommend for any coffee & Gelato lover! Try the mojito gelato is delicious!
This has now become our spot to get coffee instead of going to Starbucks down the block. This is by far a better choice.“
