After we got engaged, we stopped by his ice cream shop that night for a treat, and from that moment, we knew we had to work with him for our special day. Having Everyday Sundae at our pre-wedding park day/cookout was such a fun and personal touch. Everyone was so surprised and absolutely loved the raspberry sorbet and Everyday Sundae’s signature bourbon truffle ice cream. It was a huge hit with our guests! Working with Mr. Charles was super easy—he’s professional, reliable, and was genuinely excited to be part of our wedding weekend. His warm personality and charm added so much to the event, and we couldn’t be happier to have included him in our wedding festivities. “I moved to Crystal City from Friendship Heights last month, and I’m so glad that there is finally an ice cream shop that is walking distance to the apartment. There is a wide selection of flavors and the employees are always so friendly. One day, the sink in the bathroom wasn’t working, and the minute I told an employee, they went right to fixing it. Flavors were great and they have a unique selection. It got pretty packed in the shop, so you will have to weave your way through customers during rush hours.

“Vanilla Bean Latte (hot) is amazing. I loved it so much I visited another Dolcezza the next day to have a large cup of it. The interior of this particular location is beautiful. Location is good too you can just sit next to the window and watch outside. Right by the ChinaTown gate. There’s charger ports and the washroom is so beautiful (had overhead speakers playing lovely music). This spot is great all around I recommend it!!! It’s got a buzz to it I spent about two hours just seated in this cafe I was alone and just had a pleasant time“

“MDI has the most delicious ice cream and you can really taste the care and quality ingredients that go into the product. Interesting array of flavors, amazing texture and mouthfeel, and I love that this place is not afraid to get adventurous with flavors. Black Sesame--yum! At the same time, their most simple, traditional flavors are among my favorites--Strawberry and Cookies and Cream are absolutely delightful. I appreciate that this place continues to keep their prices very reasonable, especially given how crazy expensive food has gotten in 2024. The staff is helpful and kind and I love supporting this anchoring neighborhood spot! A favorite weekly tradition!“

“I love the hot cocoa from Dolci Gelati at the National Zoo for Zoo Lights. I bought 1 for me and 1 for a friend & went back again for a second night for more on the last night of Zoo Lights. Whipped cream, chocolate & caramel syrup is added to the top. It’s the best treat on a cold winter night or day at the zoo. Thank you!! I’ll keep coming back & bring friends.“

“The Dairy Godmother is an Alexandria staple. Our family has been going here for years. The custard shop has a variety of sorbets, three different custard a day, bakery items, and a fabulous sparkly wand for the dairy godmother in all of us. Another great thing about the Dairy Godmother is you run into many other community members here enjoying time with family and friends. You can enjoy your ice cream in the shop, out on the benches, walking the Mount Vernon Ave. strip or across the street where you can look at the different dog murals.“

“I was searching the universe for lavender honey ice cream as a special treat for Valentine’s Day. My wife and I had it a million moons ago in Palm Springs and we loved it so much. I came across Moorenkos and met Susan who is so, so nice. She was able to get me a nice supply of the lavender honey ice cream and we also stocked up on cinnamon cappuccino. Omg! “Van Leeuwen is always a solid choice for ice cream. Although it is pricey, you can get one of their pints in a store at the same price as a scoop from the shop. It's still nice to go try things out though, and get unique flavors, like the Penn Quarter Porter x DC Brew, which was quite yummy“

“Really tasty ice cream with incredibly creative flavors and combinations. Their burnt orange and their berry crumble are some of the tastiest ice creams I've ever had. They move through lines quickly and there's a nice seating area upstairs that usually has a couple open seats. Only downside is that it's pretty expensive -- $8 for just 1 medium sized scoop. Even for DC that's pretty bad. Definitely worth trying though!

Burger: The burger didn’t have much flavor and seeing as it’s a wagyu burger, it was a lil too rich for me.

Fries: The sauce is very mustardy and could be overwhelming for some. Overall, it was tasty.“

“I’ve driven by this place close to a thousand times but never stopped. I can’t believe the amazing and wonderful place I “found” today when I finally made the bold decision to try something different. At first, I was going to grab a slice of pizza because I was impressed by the look of the slices in the display case. But after I started my order on the tablet, I saw a brisket sandwich piled high with coleslaw. I ordered with extra sauce but didn’t need it because the flavor is absolute perfection. “Rita’s is a delicious treat. The gelati is good: frozen custard layered with Italian ice. They usually have one sugar free Italian ice on menu. Take out only. Parking lot has about 6 spots and there are a few more on street. Don’t forget to tip!“

“Having seen Ice n Slice on Instagram, I ordered a doro wat pizza and cheese pizza for the kids.

Both pizzas had a nice yeasty crust. The cheese pizza was actually very lovely. The tomato sauce was slightly sweet with a little nod to Ethiopian spices.

The doro wat pizza drew us in. Obviously you can’t get much more creative (or iconically dc) than a doro wat pizza. There were pieces of chicken baked into the pizza, as well as little crumbs of feta. It was rich and succulent, heavy without being over the top.

The pies held up well through the drive home to the suburbs. That being said, both pizzas were $64, which while definitely worth it, is a little steep to become a frequent occurrence.

“We went to celebrate a birthday by getting The Crazy Mason and we had a great time. The service was outstanding! It is the best service I have had in a while. Two young ladies served my large group and they were fast and efficient. I placed 11 orders received everyone in less than 15 minutes and spent less than $100. Although some ordered the same desserts, I was still amazed at the swift service. The desserts were very delicious. A few of us order the strawberry shortcake bowl 10/10. The children rated the cotton candy fluff an 8, it was super sweet, and the cookies and cream a 9. The shakes are very thick!!!!! We had the banana pudding and the sweet cheesus they were also sweet but delicious and we rated it an 8.5. The store is somewhat small but cozy. My large group couldn’t stay long because the outside seating was filled. Overall the experience was great.“
