“MDI has the most delicious ice cream and you can really taste the care and quality ingredients that go into the product. Interesting array of flavors, amazing texture and mouthfeel, and I love that this place is not afraid to get adventurous with flavors. Black Sesame--yum! At the same time, their most simple, traditional flavors are among my favorites--Strawberry and Cookies and Cream are absolutely delightful. I appreciate that this place continues to keep their prices very reasonable, especially given how crazy expensive food has gotten in 2024. The staff is helpful and kind and I love supporting this anchoring neighborhood spot! A favorite weekly tradition!“

I was very surprised at the variety of flavors, I chose Vanilla (I figured you can’t go too wrong w/ Vanilla), IT was Delicious, I can’t wait to try some of the other Flavors now, the Homemade Taste was awesome, the prices were great, the speed of service was marvelous( It was seemingly right during “rush hour”, there was a line, however, the line moved swiftly, the Helpers (Young Staff), was very flexible, friendly, patient, quick, on top of things and handled business very professionally. I was impressed. I will GO BACK and refer Friends and Family to my New Found “Custard/ Ice Cream” Place. It’s been kept a secret from me. Now I Know.“

“The kindest people ever and absolutely FLAVOR BOMB pizza!! I got half and half dorowat and kitfo. I liked the dorowat with the green chutney the most. The crust was absolutely perfect -- fluffy but with a crispy bottom. No soggy or floppy slices here! They treat you like family. Lots of beautiful cultural decor.“

“One of the best ice cream shops I’ve been to in a long time, I was pleasantly surprised to find homemade custard. The root beer was delightful in my root beer float and you can definitely taste the honey flavors the root beer was made with. The vanilla custard was refreshing and fantastic. I got there 30 minutes prior to closing and the place had a line out the door. It was a fast line and worth the short wait time. I understand now why it was so popular and I look forward to trying more from the menu in the future. They had a lot of great options and accommodations for almost anyone such as sorbet. Really cute area and if you go across the street and down a little there’s more seating to sit and eat your delicious treat outside. There’s also a cute little garden spot directly across the street too with a few seats and a spot for a treat for your dog in the mail box. I would 100% recommend this spot but expect it to be busy.“

“I love the hot cocoa from Dolci Gelati at the National Zoo for Zoo Lights. I bought 1 for me and 1 for a friend & went back again for a second night for more on the last night of Zoo Lights. “My girlfriend and I went here three days in a row 🤣 it’s the best burger in the DMV in my opinion, as someone who was born and raised in the area. The smash burgers are so fresh and loaded with the house-made sauce, onions, pickles, and tomatoes, and served on a fluffy bun. Highly recommend the savory truffle sauce for the fries. Get the double patty burger and you gotta try the ube soft serve. Will definitely come back. Just wish there were more seating inside, but there’s parks nearby where you can eat so it’s not too bad“

“My boyfriend and I were visiting from Texas. Found Alfreda’s online and came for dinner. It was absolutely amazing and our favorite meal of our trip. I had the blueberry St. Germain spritz and the passion fruit spritz— both great. And we shared the Caesar salad and the Alfreda pizza add basil. It was definitely up there, if not was, our favorite pizza we’ve ever had. Highly recommend the Alfreda sauce on the side, like a dilly ranch with a bit of sweetness. I highly recommend and so glad we found it!“

“This place is phenomenal, the inside is clean and creative. The flavors of the ice creams are awesome, and Danny makes a mean cappuccino (among other drinks!). This is just a great location, you can come here for breakfast or to grab a coffee...or you can head next door to Northside and grab a mimosa and/or lunch. We come here all the time, it's wonderful. The staff here are truly what makes this place a gem, they are all so polite and kind. It has that family feel --they make everyone feel welcome. Highly recommend for everyone.“

“Date of Visit: Thursday Aug 24th, 2023 Good portions for their ice cream. There were many flavours available. A lot of them had chocolate base/ content. I am not a fan of chocolate and vice versa. I ended up getting pralines and Cream which is my default flavour in these situations. The service was very friendly and helpful. The shop is located right across from the waterfront park – which makes it a great place to enjoy your ice cream. The prices are a bit steep but the volume is high, so I guess it is worth it.“
