“A fancy and packed ice cream shop that's sure to break your calorie budget. I slightly regret getting a double scoop because it was too much for me to eat (still ate it all).

Flavors were great and they have a unique selection. It got pretty packed in the shop, so you will have to weave your way through customers during rush hours.

“Vanilla Bean Latte (hot) is amazing. I loved it so much I visited another Dolcezza the next day to have a large cup of it. The interior of this particular location is beautiful. Location is good too you can just sit next to the window and watch outside. Right by the ChinaTown gate. There’s charger ports and the washroom is so beautiful (had overhead speakers playing lovely music). This spot is great all around I recommend it!!! It’s got a buzz to it I spent about two hours just seated in this cafe I was alone and just had a pleasant time“

“MDI has the most delicious ice cream and you can really taste the care and quality ingredients that go into the product. Interesting array of flavors, amazing texture and mouthfeel, and I love that this place is not afraid to get adventurous with flavors. Black Sesame--yum! At the same time, their most simple, traditional flavors are among my favorites--Strawberry and Cookies and Cream are absolutely delightful. I appreciate that this place continues to keep their prices very reasonable, especially given how crazy expensive food has gotten in 2024. The staff is helpful and kind and I love supporting this anchoring neighborhood spot! A favorite weekly tradition!“

“The Dairy Godmother is an Alexandria staple. Our family has been going here for years. The custard shop has a variety of sorbets, three different custard a day, bakery items, and a fabulous sparkly wand for the dairy godmother in all of us. Another great thing about the Dairy Godmother is you run into many other community members here enjoying time with family and friends. You can enjoy your ice cream in the shop, out on the benches, walking the Mount Vernon Ave. strip or across the street where you can look at the different dog murals.“

“I love the hot cocoa from Dolci Gelati at the National Zoo for Zoo Lights. I bought 1 for me and 1 for a friend & went back again for a second night for more on the last night of Zoo Lights. Whipped cream, chocolate & caramel syrup is added to the top. It’s the best treat on a cold winter night or day at the zoo. Thank you!! I’ll keep coming back & bring friends.“

“Van Leeuwen is always a solid choice for ice cream. Although it is pricey, you can get one of their pints in a store at the same price as a scoop from the shop. It's still nice to go try things out though, and get unique flavors, like the Penn Quarter Porter x DC Brew, which was quite yummy“

Her descriptions of items completely changed the dinner choices the three of us had after looking at the menu. Ty highlighted new items on the menu with nuance and apt descriptions. Ty answered all of our questions, paced the meal wonderfully, and ensured that our birthday celebration of a loved one was memorial. The food - a nice range of choices for cold and warm appetizers and mains and prepared with excellence.“

“Really tasty ice cream with incredibly creative flavors and combinations. Their burnt orange and their berry crumble are some of the tastiest ice creams I've ever had. They move through lines quickly and there's a nice seating area upstairs that usually has a couple open seats. Only downside is that it's pretty expensive -- $8 for just 1 medium sized scoop. Even for DC that's pretty bad. Definitely worth trying though!

Parking: Almost no close street parking, some parking on side streets nearby.

Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly and will let you have a couple samples to find a flavor you like.

Wheelchair accessibility: There's a ramp into the building, but no way to get to the upstairs seating area.“

I was very surprised at the variety of flavors, I chose Vanilla (I figured you can’t go too wrong w/ Vanilla), IT was Delicious, I can’t wait to try some of the other Flavors now, the Homemade Taste was awesome, the prices were great, the speed of service was marvelous( It was seemingly right during “rush hour”, there was a line, however, the line moved swiftly, the Helpers (Young Staff), was very flexible, friendly, patient, quick, on top of things and handled business very professionally. I was impressed. I will GO BACK and refer Friends and Family to my New Found “Custard/ Ice Cream” Place. It’s been kept a secret from me. Now I Know.“

So yummy and never with the watery texture of some almond milk ice creams and no overpowering coconut flavor like with coconut milk ice creams. Good all around! “Rita’s is a delicious treat. The gelati is good: frozen custard layered with Italian ice. They usually have one sugar free Italian ice on menu. Take out only. Parking lot has about 6 spots and there are a few more on street. Don’t forget to tip!“

“Having seen Ice n Slice on Instagram, I ordered a doro wat pizza and cheese pizza for the kids.

Both pizzas had a nice yeasty crust. The cheese pizza was actually very lovely. The tomato sauce was slightly sweet with a little nod to Ethiopian spices.

The doro wat pizza drew us in. Obviously you can’t get much more creative (or iconically dc) than a doro wat pizza. There were pieces of chicken baked into the pizza, as well as little crumbs of feta. It was rich and succulent, heavy without being over the top.

The pies held up well through the drive home to the suburbs. That being said, both pizzas were $64, which while definitely worth it, is a little steep to become a frequent occurrence.
