“Have nothing but good things to say about this place! Quick, friendly, and tasty. Pricey but reasonable for what you get, given the quality! Go for the usual items (lobster roll, fried claims) but do not sleep on the fried scallops and any of the desserts. I've been fortunate enough to come here many times and it gets significantly better, each and every time.“

“Our Garden Suite was awesome! Super comfortable and well appointed, awesome soaking tub, the nicest robes, great views and quick walk to the beach. Loved how dog friendly it is. Dog bowls, dog blanket, dog towel, ball, poopie bags and a giant biscuit greeted our pup. Dogs are even allowed in the tavern. Hot chocolate and cookies in the lobby at night. Chocolates in the room. Free use of the steam room and experience shower in the spa for guests. Staff is great! That’s just to name a few things that makes the Inn by the Sea great! We can’t wait to go back!“

“Oh how lucky we were! Our first choice for dining fell through, closed when claimed to be open. Oh well, our son happened to see the folks dining here through the window and popped in, they could take the three of us right now. Wife and I had to hustle from several blocks away. Having walked in with zero expectations, we were surprised to see how full and vibrant the place felt. Our server was fantastic and walked us through several of the menu options. Needless to say, it was all amazing. We feel lucky to have been able to dine here. Best meal in Portland.“

“Best food I ate in Portland all week (including upscale places) was the lobster bisque from Chef Ryan. Oysters were GREAT as well. Family friendly. Chef Ryan’s whole menu was top notch and the kitchen staff was so nice. Ty came up and offered to give my young kids a lobster lesson over FaceTime (was here for work). Lizzy was excellent at the bar for our group. Ashley was amazing and welcoming to our group. Couldn’t recommend more. But def order the menu items and not just the lobster!“

As great as they were the lobster flatbread stole the show. The cheese with the lobster was delicious. It was the right amount of crunch with the cheese and lobster being cooked to perfection. “We had an amazing experience on the Lucky Catch Lobstering Cruise in Portland, Maine! The crew made everything so fun and educational. We got hands on experience checking lobster traps, baiting them, and learning all about lobsters and the local lobster industry. The boat itself was comfortable and offered great views of the harbor, and the crew was friendly, knowledgeable, and full of interesting stories. This cruise is perfect for anyone who wants a true Maine lobstering experience, highly recommend getting out on the water with Lucky Catch!“

“Walked into the Portland location at 7:57 on a Saturday when they close at 8:00 and they graciously served me, even though it was clear they had finished cleaning up for the night. I am a regular at the Scarborough commissary throughout the summer and this was my first time visiting the Portland location. The staff all said hello to me with a smile and conversation and had no problem packing a few rolls for me to go! Great staff and always consistent food!“

We had gone to another(big)place in the area the night before and we were very disappointed . Luckily we found the Salty Bay! today!
