Food - Menu has good variety, the lobsters come in daily, cooked just right. The view across the river to Portsmouth is like no other, plus the river traffic and bridge openings, lobster boats, big ships, tugs, you name it. River breezes tend to keep things a little cooler. “Chauncey Creek is always excellent. Now that I live outside the US, I make sure to schedule my visits during the open season. The food (steamers and lobsters) was perfectly prepared and delicious. Even the sides (coleslaw, corn on the cob and onion rings) were amazing. The setting on Chauncey Creek, with a view toward Portsmouth Harbor really adds to to the ambience. And the stars are all super welcoming, efficient and friendly. This is our go-to destination for exceptional seafood in a classic, rustic setting.“

“I have been eating there for years. I went the other night because I was craving scallops. I got my usual scallops and tried to substitute o-rings for fries. The girl told me it wasn't allowed. No substitutions. I was willing to pay for the upgrade. No go. I live in the area and there are a lot of other options which I'll be trying.“

“I had the haddock sandwich with french fries and they were absolutely delicious. I’ve eaten there several times in the past and have never been disappointed with the food. The staff was friendly and very attentive, and we received our food promptly. I must say, however I don’t appreciate the preset minimum tip starting at 20%, that seems rather high for food served in a cardboard basket… The next time I go—- I’ll use the custom tip percentage and assign the appropriate amount…“

“Arriving we were met with friendly smiling hosts. We were offered inside or out but decided we didn’t need to wait for out when we could sit in the lounge which was basically open air (the wall opens onto the deck). Beautiful view of the river and tugs. Our waitress Mikayla (sp?) was super sweet and attentive. We never waited for a drink refill or to order more food. She was knowledgeable about the menu both food and drink. The food was amazing. Highly recommend the fish and chips and we ate our weight in oysters. Ten out of ten recommend ✌🏻❤️“

The food was GREAT, I got the fisherman’s platter and shared it with my friend and it was still enough for a meal!! If you are ever in Portsmouth you had better come here!! Without Surf Portsmouth New Hampshire couldn’t survive!! Also, it’s smart to get a reservation before going!! We came off the road and they still got us in under 5 minutes!“

The staff is top notch, the grounds are beautiful, and view is unmatched, and during your reception you'll probably be visited by a nosy great blue heron. He's popped up at most of the weddings I've shot there. There are so many wedding venues in Southern Maine, you probably can't do any better than Dockside.“

“Just a quick note from someone who never writes reviews. Sitting at The Beach Plum with my three kiddos and so impressed and grateful for the wonderful service we’ve received here. We had a tiny issue with one meal which was immediately acknowledged and fixed tenfold. Two members of the team checked on us several times after to make sure we were doing okay and then sent us home with an extra meal for later on the house. My kids learned a great lesson on wonderful and kind customer service and The Beach Plum will continue to be a favorite spot for us! Thank you!!“

Drinks were summery and unique 🧉🍹 The lobster bisque was the best I’ve ever had!!!! And there was a great amount of lobster meat in it. “From the start I felt I was walking into a dream. Beautiful and unexpected decor. Stylish, Upscale, Modern. Not what I'm familiar with in most Asian restaurants. Enchanting and romantic.

As they say, 'you eat with your eyes first', and right off the bat, my eyes were telling me we were about to dive into something flavorful, delicious and satifying.
The Pho noodle bowl with shrimp was steaming and presented with a side of garnishes; basil, mint, jalapeno, bean sprouts, lime wedges and a little dish of the best house made hot sriracha. Wow! Packed a flavor-filled punch. We used every bit of it. (Will take tums later).
The grilled lemongrass chicken thighs were juicy and so, so good. Excellent alongside a perfect bowl of garlic ftied rice.

The servers were so friendly and helpful when we asked questions about origins of some of the dishes.

If I lived anywhere near this place it would be a frequent dining choice.
Or even to come for cocktails. The bar is stunning. We had a 3 hour drive to home ahead of us so we couldn't induge. But, if they put as much care into making a good drink as they do into everything else, I'm certain it's worth a visit to just relax and enjoy a drink while sitting at the gorgeous bar.

I hope we travel this way again soon. Will be a top choice on my list of dining places to enjoy.“

“The cleanest hotel I have ever had!! perfect view, balcony and all. Premium feel, great value, mini fridge, premium coffee maker, water pot, compost and recycling, new linen, brand new towels and blankets. Receptionist was polite, staff were cordial and warming. My family and I went to Ogunquit twice/years. We usually made Thai Seafood lime sauce and bring with us to eat with Maine seafood but we forgot this time. I called Thai for You in Yorks and ask if they have papaya salad and they offer to make it Esan style(with fermented crab, Prara- fermented fish sauce)
