Even the sides (coleslaw, corn on the cob and onion rings) were amazing. The setting on Chauncey Creek, with a view toward Portsmouth Harbor really adds to to the ambience. And the stars are all super welcoming, efficient and friendly. This is our go-to destination for exceptional seafood in a classic, rustic setting.“

“Surf was recommended as a place to try while we were in Portsmouth. It turned out to be a great choice. We arrived for an early dinner (5 pm) and were able to get a window table with a beautiful view of the harbor. My wife and I shared a house salad with sesame vinaigrette dressing, a bowl of clam chowder, and the roasted haddock with lobster mashed potatoes. Every dish exceeded our expectations. The roasted haddock really stood out- it was cooked perfectly with a butter/cornichon pan sauce and a surprising amount of lobster in the mashed potatoes. Our server did an excellent job. This restaurant is highly recommended. They do not take reservations.“

“Stopped here on the way through New England. My hubby literally googled best lobster rolls and we took the suggestion. It did not disappoint at all! Deserved every bit of the 5 stars I gave it! We were greeted warmly and taken to a seat for 2 with a beautiful view. Our waitress was attentive and personable. Our drinks were amazing. I had the spiced pear martini and hubby had the blackberry bourbon smash. We both had the butter poached lobster rolls, omgoodness delectable. We ended the dinner with an amazing autumn spiced creme brulee that we shared.We most certainly will be stopping back there on our next visit.“

“From the start I felt I was walking into a dream. Beautiful and unexpected decor. Stylish, Upscale, Modern. Not what I'm familiar with in most Asian restaurants. Enchanting and romantic.

As they say, 'you eat with your eyes first', and right off the bat, my eyes were telling me we were about to dive into something flavorful, delicious and satifying.
The Pho noodle bowl with shrimp was steaming and presented with a side of garnishes; basil, mint, jalapeno, bean sprouts, lime wedges and a little dish of the best house made hot sriracha. Wow! Packed a flavor-filled punch. We used every bit of it. (Will take tums later).
The grilled lemongrass chicken thighs were juicy and so, so good. Excellent alongside a perfect bowl of garlic ftied rice.

The servers were so friendly and helpful when we asked questions about origins of some of the dishes.

If I lived anywhere near this place it would be a frequent dining choice.
Or even to come for cocktails. The bar is stunning. We had a 3 hour drive to home ahead of us so we couldn't induge. But, if they put as much care into making a good drink as they do into everything else, I'm certain it's worth a visit to just relax and enjoy a drink while sitting at the gorgeous bar.

I hope we travel this way again soon. Will be a top choice on my list of dining places to enjoy.“

It's important to set your expectations accordingly, as they provide only paper plates, plastic cups, and plastic silverware. If you’re okay with that, I highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting Portsmouth. The ambiance is very pleasant, situated on the water with a lovely view of boats passing by. “Just a quick note from someone who never writes reviews. Sitting at The Beach Plum with my three kiddos and so impressed and grateful for the wonderful service we’ve received here. We had a tiny issue with one meal which was immediately acknowledged and fixed tenfold. Two members of the team checked on us several times after to make sure we were doing okay and then sent us home with an extra meal for later on the house. My kids learned a great lesson on wonderful and kind customer service and The Beach Plum will continue to be a favorite spot for us! Thank you!!“

“This place is an absolute gem tucked away in York Village. The atmosphere is cozy and casual, and the staff was very friendly. The food was absolutely amazing. My girlfriend and I got the salmon bacon salad and the chicken and gravy and were blown away by both of them. The ingredients are incredible and fresh, meaning that not only does the food taste good, it makes you feel good! They also are extremely accommodating of dietary restrictions and care a lot about the health and safety of their customers! Their homemade ice cream sandwich for dessert was the cherry on top. Will absolutely be coming back and can’t recommend this place enough.“

“Love this place, great Thai food with extremely friendly people working here. Big fan of their duck and beef noodle soups, they also have a special one going so check for that on FB page. Usually get drunken noodles also if even to eat next day. The appetizer platter is great as well. Also the Para garden is awesome if you like peanut sauce. Curries are very good as well. Haven't disliked anything actually. Thai ice teas great too!“

“I stumbled upon the roost a few year ago and have had many different experiences, some good, some not so great but Last week I went in during lunch with my wife and our friends. Our waitress was more than amazing! She was very cheerful, fun, knowledgeable and very observant! I am a veteran but also someone who NEVER asks if a restaurant has a veterans discount. Our server noticed my military pin on my jacket and asked if I had served our country, the answer was yes in which she instantly thanked me for my service and informed me that they offer a veterans discount for “those who serve our country”. I was very impressed because no one has ever been so observant as she was as well as having some really great recommendations on food and drinks and was able to carry an awesome conversation with our table! Although she was by herself and somewhat busy (making drinks, cleaning, and delivering food) her service continued to be impeccable and she didn’t even look flustered at all! She also had a very unique name that my wife really fell in love with! Although when she first brought us our check she had forgotten to put the discount on our bill (we did not tell her she had forgotten it) but as soon as she came back over to grab our payment, she realized her mistake and immediately applied the discount for us. My wife, our friends, and I have been to many restaurants and all agreed that this was the best experience we have ever had! We will be back again to visit our new favorite server!“
