“We needed to find a place to eat after my son's competition and this was right across the street. They had been wanting to go for some time now and it didn't disappoint. The atmosphere is fun and the service was very good, the waitress knew alot about the menu and was very helpful for us first timers. The food came out fast and was delicious. “So there was a bit of a wait because this place is so popular but because we were with someone older they gave us the opportunity to sit down. All the wait staff was really cool and then we got to meet the general manager and it just made so much sense why the restaurant is so great, she really runs it well, she holds it down I really appreciate her service“
“I only had a sandwich and some mozzarella sticks but those were good and other people seemed happy with their meals - but mostly here to say the atmosphere / service at this place is unmatched. Amy & Heather who I got the opportunity to have as bartenders and servers both times I came (and they’re sisters! How fun) both went beyond the call of normal service. This place was the closest nearby spot to an emergency vet I took my dog to after an attack. I was obviously a bit solemn when I came in the first time for lunch and immediately they asked me if I was okay and both came around the bar to hug me when tears started welling and listened to my story and showed so much care and compassion for my poor doggy. When I came back a week later they recognized me IMMEDIATELY and asked how my boy was doing and were overjoyed when I said he’s healing well and getting stitched up today. I also wanted to come back to get their names just so I could be sure to mention them by name in a review because they certainly deserve it. Outside of that, clearly they (and the rest of the staff here) have compassion and familiarity with mostly everyone who walked in the door. They impressively remembered names, usual orders, and asked specific questions about peoples’ lives (and I was sitting at the bar for a long time while I waited for my dog both times and got to witness LOTS of interactions) - all were overwhelmingly positive. I love love LOVE this place. I live in Detroit and rarely come to the suburbs unless I need to - but I might have to start making Mr. Joe’s a regular stop ❤️❤️❤️❤️“

We love the hot pretzel appetizers and the large burgers that are very generously portioned. We have been here multiple times and have never had something that we didn’t like! All of their food was kept at a manageable price range -and not to mention that all of there food is portioned to feed at least a few. The beverages were reasonably priced and fantastic tasting. We highly recommend the city grill and bar to you and your family.Dietary restrictions: There are many gluten free and vegetarian options.Kid-friendliness: my kids love it here they have great food and my kids are pretty picky they love there food and the variety that is given. Re: Rochester, I had some extraordinary chicken fajitas, pizza's is decent, pastas is okay, but more importantly, it's a rare place in Oakland county where you can have a variety of dishes and they're all pretty much down the pipe. Burgers are extremely good, and the staff is friendly with lots of smiles and good eye candy (cute staff), lots of TV's, and the lights aren't obnoxious, what more do you want?“

The service was extremely friendly and all over any requests I had. The food and drinks were great and the restaurant just appeared to run like a well-oiled machine. Most restaurants are short staffed on major holidays, whereas Grand Tavern appeared to have it all figured out ahead of time.I had visited a couple times to watch NCAA tournament games and I've noticed that things here have really improved over the last couple months. Food orders come out quicker than ever and the staff is very attentive. The owners hired a new manager called Netty a couple months ago that I've met and had some friendly banter with, and she is absolutely brilliant at what she does. Extremely friendly and very service oriented. Whatever they're paying her is not enough.Obviously I'll continue to be a regular customer to Grand Tavern while it continues to impress.“

Other patrons really seemed to enjoy the music as well.The only reasons I didn't give five stars all around was that it was weird sitting at a table right next to the men's bathroom and trying to eat, and the chairs are in a need of a change. Spring was coming out of one that would hit the floor. These still wouldn't stop me from coming back, but I would pick another table in the future.“
“J’s is our favorite go-to spot. The staff are truly awesome - so kind and go out of their way for customers, especially Jake who we cannot say enough nice things about. Food is always excellent, far far above & beyond typical bar food - love everything from their dill pickle pizza to wings to salads to delicious chicken tenders. Take-out pizza is also a great option. And drinks are consistently flowing. Great place to watch games or just hang out on any given night. Proud to call this place our fave neighborhood haunt!!“

“Haven't been here in years mostly because of the smell and mediocre service however went here after work recently and was pleasantly surprised! It no longer smells like spilled alcohol and stale cigarettes. Also the server we had was very attentive and nice. The bartender also was courteous by asking if the music was too loud as she was adjusting it. I've never encountered that before and quite honestly it should be more often in other establishments!The food was good. Deep fried food didn't taste like old grease & my friend's gyro was HUGE (and she said it was good).Happy to say we'll be back. Much better atmosphere there now than in the past for sure.“

Upon arrival, we were surprised by the pricing—each draft Oberon beer costing $8.50 and the sandwiches starting at a minimum of $15.
