Our server was amazing but I wasn't too fond of the manager walking around yelling at all his employees who were busting their butts trying to provide the best service to the customers. I've worked in restaurants for about 10 years now and I know things can get frustrating during dinner rushes. But being the owner of the restaurant and treating your employees so poorly while you have customers trying to eat isn't ideal. I watched this guy yell at all his cooks and servers. Also was rude to a server about a chair when they didn't know said chair wasn't allowed in the outside seating area. I really hope this manager takes the extra steps to pull people aside and be discreet when addressing something instead of causing a scene like we saw tonight. Other then that, we enjoyed this restaurant and the food!“

“Not fancy. Located on the River with a wonderful view. The service was friendly, attentive, and engaging. Ordered dinner items, but breakfast was available as well at 5:00 PM. The fish and chips were cooked perfectly. Light crisp batter on the fish and the fish was cooked just right. I've had fish and chips at a number of restaurants, but none are better than this. Very reasonable price with large portions. The fries were also excellent. We also ordered the Patty Melt and it was just right. Great rye bread, the beef patty was yummy, the cheese was delicious, and the onions were cooked spot on. Often the onions are the weak link in this sandwich. Not here. Had fries with this and they were great. Couldn't eat everything and brought home fish and fries. Another table ordered omelets and they looked fantastic. I will have to try that next time. Definitely 5 stars.“

“We had such a great experience at Art & Jake’s, and Taylor D. was absolutely amazing! She was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our entire meal. She was incredibly personable and made us feel welcomed from the moment we sat down. Our drinks were always full, our food came out quickly, and she checked on us the perfect amount without ever making us feel rushed. Taylor really went above and beyond and made our experience even better. You can tell she genuinely cares about her customers and takes pride in what she does. “I held a baby shower a few years ago there, in the ice cream parlor. The society staffed the parlor with a worker who worked the ice cream counter. I picked up the ice cream tab at the end. Our guests thought it was really cool and unique way to celebrate our little one's arrival .... and the ice cream was yummy!!!“

“If you're a transplant/visitor from anywhere in the south, this is where you wanna go to get some delicious well seasoned food. I moved to Michigan from Texas last year and the difference in food has been a huge adjustment for me. This is one of the best restaurants I've eaten at in the year I've lived here. Although this Big Boy has done well at maintaining the classic diner atmosphere. There's plenty of room in between the new clean tables and chairs, the floor was clean, and service was great.
Food came out somewhat quick, it looked great, I got Cinnamon French Toast with sausage links and it was really decent, everything was fully cooked.
I was checked on multiple times throughout my meal.
Overall the eating area is much smaller than a typical Big Boy, and there is no salad bar or buffet, but they do have color televisions and a drive thru, so there's that.“

“We had a great night! The food was excellent, and the service was very friendly. For appetizers, I highly recommend the Texas Tonion. The Seven Chocolate Cake was delicious and perfect for sharing. The homemade lemonade and iced tea were both excellent, and the free refills were a nice bonus.

The final bill was very reasonable considering the quality of the food and service. We'll definitely be back!“
