I just want to say that every time I come here, there's one particular kid there I don't know his name, but he is so sweet, so kind and it seems like he works his, butt off. My pizza is made perfectly every single time and every single delivery driver or anybody else I've ever came into contact with has been nothing but kind. I will forever come here! The food is amazing--the chicken sandwich is the best you'll ever have in your lifetime. Don't leave without trying the tea. What a presentation! Even more wonderful than the food is Chef/Owner Omar's hospitality & generousity!!! One of his core values is giving back to the commuity through the Saffron Community Kitchen and his YouTube presentations. Did I mention he is a James Beard finalist? I will return again & again. “I didnt know anything about Soul Food, but have come here several times now. Very tasty meals and good kind service. The neighborhood is beautiful and it is easy to find by driving up Jefferson toward Pewabic Pottery, turn onto Van Dyke and just park right along Agnes. The neighborhood has one of those pretty names, too, tho sadly I have forgotten. But the food is the big deal, and the folksy service. I even got dessert as well. It is really worth the trip!“

“We tried the Detroit Pepper Company tonight, first time! We went with the Detroit Stuffed Pepper, beef with parmesan cheese. Very good taste, and huge. We also ordered the Vegan Stuffed Pepper, but we will have to try it tomorrow for lunch...too full from the Detroit Stuffed Pepper! We also tried the lentil bean soup, very nice. “I've always been a fan of Carrots n' Dates, especially when I'm on a health food kick. Recently, the owners have done an overhaul of the restaurant and I am LOVING the staff. They're always attentive, helpful, and seem eager to learn the business. The food is always fresh and delicious. By far one of my favourite lunch picks while I'm busy working on my school work. “The girl at the register is very nice and pleasant on the phone. The pizza was fantastic but the menu online needs to be updated. Every pizza on the list increased 35-45% in price which equates to $6-7 extra per pizza. The large cheese pizza is $19 not $13 the pepperoni is $22 not $15.“

“Checked out Eastern Market Brewing Company tonight, and I get why people talk about this place. It’s right in the heart of Eastern Market and has a great lineup of beers — enough options for everyone, whether you’re into IPAs or just want something easy to drink .

I grabbed a flight so I could pretend I’m a beer expert. I’m not, but the dark beer was smoother than I expected and the lager was the kind of crisp you want after a long week. The space itself feels laid back — good seating, and you can still catch whatever game is on without feeling like you’re in a packed sports bar.

Service was friendly, crowd was chill, and it’s the kind of spot where you could make this your go-to without even trying. Detroit beer, no pressure, good energy.

“The Block is ALWAYS a GREAT time on Sunday for Brunch. The staff, the bartenders and managers are all full of energy and ready to help customers have a good time! The DJ keeps everyone dancing in their seats while eating and sometimes the staff and customers get up and dance. It's a dope, fun atmosphere and to top it off the food is so incredibly good and favorable. The Chefs know exactly what they are doing in that kitchen! I'll be back again and again.“

“Stopped in for a quick bite and prices were a bit more than I could afford. I settled on the Harvest Orzo. Probably should have noticed bacon was added to request it removed. There were 4 squares of squash, plenty of orzo and a bed of greens. The flavor with squash was great but there weren't many pieces of it to call that the flavor of the dish. It was more like cheesy orzo. The staff was great. I felt welcomed. I know the food here can be great, this time sorry.“
