The staff are very attentive to there customers they keep the coffee hot and coming and keep the smiles coming as well. The food is amazing--the chicken sandwich is the best you'll ever have in your lifetime. Don't leave without trying the tea. What a presentation! Even more wonderful than the food is Chef/Owner Omar's hospitality & generousity!!! One of his core values is giving back to the commuity through the Saffron Community Kitchen and his YouTube presentations. Did I mention he is a James Beard finalist? I will return again & again. “I didnt know anything about Soul Food, but have come here several times now. Very tasty meals and good kind service. The neighborhood is beautiful and it is easy to find by driving up Jefferson toward Pewabic Pottery, turn onto Van Dyke and just park right along Agnes. The neighborhood has one of those pretty names, too, tho sadly I have forgotten. But the food is the big deal, and the folksy service. I even got dessert as well. It is really worth the trip!“

“We tried the Detroit Pepper Company tonight, first time! We went with the Detroit Stuffed Pepper, beef with parmesan cheese. Very good taste, and huge. We also ordered the Vegan Stuffed Pepper, but we will have to try it tomorrow for lunch...too full from the Detroit Stuffed Pepper! We also tried the lentil bean soup, very nice. And my wife enjoyed the Mango Tastic smoothie:-) We're happy to learn about the Detroit Pepper Company, and we'll be back. Highly recommended. A very clean take-out only place, with good food and a very friendly staff.“

“The girl at the register is very nice and pleasant on the phone. The pizza was fantastic but the menu online needs to be updated. Every pizza on the list increased 35-45% in price which equates to $6-7 extra per pizza. The large cheese pizza is $19 not $13 the pepperoni is $22 not $15.“

“Went there 30 minutes before closing looking for drinks and some apps and it did not disappoint! I had the winter special old fashioned and it was wonderful! The food we ordered was also excellent, however, our bartender made the experience truly great! Rob was such an engaging and entertaining bartender. We had such fun conversations with him and he kept the bar open for us after closing time! If he’s there, we’re definitely headed back.“

“Checked out Eastern Market Brewing Company tonight, and I get why people talk about this place. It’s right in the heart of Eastern Market and has a great lineup of beers — enough options for everyone, whether you’re into IPAs or just want something easy to drink .

I grabbed a flight so I could pretend I’m a beer expert. I’m not, but the dark beer was smoother than I expected and the lager was the kind of crisp you want after a long week. The space itself feels laid back — good seating, and you can still catch whatever game is on without feeling like you’re in a packed sports bar.

Service was friendly, crowd was chill, and it’s the kind of spot where you could make this your go-to without even trying. Detroit beer, no pressure, good energy.

I’ll definitely be back — and I’m officially adding breweries to the list of places I “review” now.“
