“I stumbled across a TikTok video today where the guy raved that the curry puffs with the cucumber salad at Sunrise Thai were absolutely fire — so of course I had to go check it out for myself. And let me tell you… he wasn’t lying.

Sunrise Thai is tucked into a little strip mall, but like the guy said, those are always the best spots — and this place proves it. I ordered the curry puffs and Pad Thai with chicken, and everything was phenomenal.

The curry puffs were insanely good — perfectly crispy, packed with flavor, and dipping them into the cucumber salad took it to a whole different level. And the Pad Thai? Delicious. Perfect balance of sweet, savory, and a little tang, with tender chicken and noodles cooked just right.

On top of all that, the service was great — friendly, fast, and welcoming. I’m 100% coming back. Sunrise Thai is a hidden gem that absolutely lives up to the hype!“

“I have been coming here for years and since the new owners took over by a year ago, They have made a small space into a comforting restaurant to eat a great meal. They have upgraded the tables the decor and the overall vibe. Consistency is very important to me and their food is consistently great. My go-to is the vegetable curry with chicken medium. A delicious red curry dish with a hint of basil and just enough heat. Curry noodle, fried rice, pad Thai, all have been great. I'd highly recommend eating here if you look for a local Thai restaurant in Troy.... I've been to all of them and this is by far the best.“

“Mays is a goto for me!!! I’m in love with the King Ka Lee I believe. It’s the yellow curry with rice, chicken and potatoes. Perfect for a winter day. The food is always cooked fresh and you can watch them cook it. It’s really fast I like to order when I get there because it only takes a real 5 mins. And I add a Thai tea for the spice. Ima medium + spice kinda guy. If you want to go crazy add mushrooms.“

The menu is quite expansive, well-organized, with solid descriptions. Numbers provided in case you can't or don't want to try pronouncing the dish names. I certainly understand.

The spice level is accurate. I love hot food. But I ordered the Extra Hot - based on other restaurants levels - and wished I'd stuck with simply hot. For those who really want to push the 🔥, I was informed they had ghost peppers available for your dining pleasure. You're an adult, make good decisions.
My only complaint: one of the veggies, eggplant, I believe, was overcooked and quite soft, almost mushy. Flavor was delicious, spice level as expected. The quantity was very good and the price terrific.
I'll definitely return, there are too many offerings that I need to check out. I'll likely return to the review & tweak it as necessary.“
