“We landed here after arriving in town on a Tuesday evening and needing a good dinner. We were immediately welcomed in (after first trying another restaurant where no one even came to seat us). The atmosphere was warm and inviting with live music. The food and drinks were excellent. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Royal Oak!“

“Not really much of a sports bar person in the past, and I have lived in Royal Oak for years and just started coming here. The service is always really great, but because it’s so popular sometimes it can get very busy, it’s a great place to watch a Lions game hockey game, etc. The staff is always been extremely personable, and the owners are almost constantly there. Definitely a place that cares about the product they are putting out, The pizza and the cheese sticks are delicious. I will literally die if the cheese sticks ever go away. Definitely an old school bar where you can actually speak to people and meet new people pretty much at any age group. Definitely not the norm for downtown Royal Oak.. Some of the other reviews sound like they’re probably from people who aren’t used to being in public.. I would definitely recommend checking this place out.“

The only thing I didn't care for is they automatically add a tip to your bill, and it was two of us, and we paid separately. The sad part is that our server was great and I would have glady tipped him $20 on my $55 bill but since they added that $8.64 to my bill that's all he got.“

“A special day. A special night. Couldn't be better. Arranged by our son and daughter. The waiter did everything, except eat our food. The wines were a delight and the steak and salmon were prepared with artistry. He guided us with each entre and the salad was shared by us with dressing aside. Wine, was by the glass and was both red and white and light, semidry and elegant. Our perfect dinner ended the perfect evening. Thank you 220 Merrill for a wonderful 50th.“

With no way to catch the big game at home, CJ Mahoney's was the perfect destination. Nestled in a cozy booth, we had our own personal TV, the perfect setup for an immersive viewing experience.

We kicked off the game with a classic Supreme Pizza, a cheesy, saucy delight topped with a colorful array of ingredients. While she sipped on a couple of refreshing 7 and 7's, I opted for a crisp Diet Coke. Later, we indulged in a flavorful cheese Quesadilla, a cheesy, crispy treat that hit the spot.

Despite the packed house, the staff handled the crowd with impressive efficiency. They were friendly, attentive, and kept our drinks flowing.

CJ Mahoney's has become our go-to spot for game day. The combination of great food, friendly service, and a lively atmosphere makes it a winner in our book.“

“Just left and wanted to write a review ASAP! Took my guy here for his birthday. We went to the bingo brunch. Even though there weren’t many people there at 10 am the bingo host played the game and awesome music in between each number being called. We each won bingo and got some fun prizes - shirts and games. The atmosphere is cozy and perfect for playing games. The hostess was very welcoming. “This place is an absolute gem! I randomly found it after my nail appointment down the road and I am SO glad that I did. The drinks were strong and well priced and the whitefish was the best I have ever had! Huge piece perfectly cooked with a thin, crispy batter served with two sides from a huge selection! Truffle fries were delicious and DO NOT sleep on the key lime pie, hand made by the owners themselves... Incredible!

The best part of the whole experience was the AMAZING service that Joyce provided. She was fun, friendly, and attentive and I will be going back to see her very soon despite living pretty far away.

I feel bad I don’t remember the server’s name who was outside on the patio, but genuinely some of the best service I’ve ever had, and I worked in the industry for 10+ years. “Over 25 crowd (most patrons were 40s +). There is a $15 minimum to use a card so if you're just having 1 drink, bring cash. No cover. Pool tables and bar. I was told they no longer sell food at this Bar & Grill but I didn't confirm if the kitchen closes very early, is temporarily closed or closed indefinitely. There is outdoor space and also a food truck up the alley behind the businesses on Grand River. The staff was friendly and there was plenty of seating. It's not huge but there was a perfect number of people to enjoy yourself and not be crowded with people breathing COVID unknowingly. Old school music with some hustle tracks thrown in. I would go back.“

“This place just reopened, and oh my goodness. First of all, the owner, Nikki, is fantastic. She's very welcoming and the atmosphere she's created here is outstanding. There's TVs lining the walls, a great stereo system with good bass, and very good music at all times. That's not even the best part, though. The Chef knows what he's doing! You can tell he has a passion for his craft, and it shows in his dishes. I had a steak today that was to die for. I wish I'd taken a picture (sorry readers) but that steak was so good I couldn't bring myself to stop eating and pick my phone up to take one. I'd give it 6 stars if I could.“
