Because you thought it was necessary to write and post such a childish and scathing review of your horrible experience at this establishment that clearly has It out for you and your family blah blah blah. I felt the need to tell you to go get fucked and get struck by lightning or eaten by sharks...... reminded me why I moved away from liberty years ago and occasionally go back for things like a nice laid back well served lunch on the square. “We were passing thru and staying at Best Western Premier. The desk clerk recommended Conrad’s! We went there and so glad we did! Claire was our waitress and she was amazing! Hubby has allergies and she went back twice to make sure he was ok!! We shared the Blue Chips appetizer…with a couple cold ones. OMG….they were soooo good! We had regular BBQ sauce instead of Buffalo. Amazing! And you get so much!! Definitely enough to share! Then we both ordered the grilled chicken wrap with ranch dressing. That also was so very good! I brought 1/2 of mine back to motel for breakfast in the morning. For a side I had steamed broccoli which was excellent. Hubby had the mixed vegetables. It is a casual but nice place!! Claire was awesome and so was the food!“

“Great local wines. I always enjoy the bar staff. The ghosts add to the flavor of this old place with it's Legends. The summer slushy drinks are wonderful. Haven't stayed in the rooms just visit the bar for the wines.
We hold our local Clay County Republican women's meeting here once a month and this has been a wonderful place to come to a meeting, to get together with other people and to enjoy getting information and having speakers. It's also great to come here for the other programs that they offer as a winery and the events that are put on here.“

“What has happened to one of my favorite places to eat? The portion sizes are much smaller, they removed some of our favorite items from the menu and raised prices over 20% on the new menu. I am really heartbroken about this as we used to eat here numerous times every month. Not sure we are coming back now.“

“Here’s aI recently visited Slim Chickens and had a pretty mixed experience. I always try to give places a fair shot, especially when they have a good reputation for fresh food and variety. I will say upfront — the food was fresh. You can tell it wasn’t sitting under a heat lamp all day. The chicken was hot, the fries were crisp, and everything came out in a reasonable amount of time. So credit where it’s due on freshness and speed of service.

However, the biggest issue for me was the lack of seasoning on the chicken itself. The chicken tasted like it was cooked plain, with no real seasoning or flavor in the breading. It felt like they rely heavily on their sauces to carry the flavor instead of properly seasoning the meat. Without sauce, the chicken is honestly pretty bland. It almost feels like you’re eating naked cooked chicken that’s just been fried and then covered in sauce afterward. If you’re someone who loves bold, well-seasoned chicken straight out of the fryer, this might disappoint you.

The sauces are definitely doing the heavy lifting here. Once you dip the chicken, it tastes better — but that shouldn’t be the only way the food has flavor. A good chicken spot should have seasoning built into the breading and the meat, not just depend on sauce options. If you forget to grab sauce or don’t use much of it, you’re left with something that tastes pretty plain.

The sides were decent. The fries were fresh and crispy, and the toast was okay. Nothing over-the-top amazing, but solid. The overall presentation was clean, and the restaurant itself was neat and organized. Staff was polite and the service was fine — no complaints there.

Overall, I’d say Slim Chickens is average. Fresh food and good sauce options, but the chicken itself needs better seasoning. If they stepped up the flavor in the breading and didn’t rely so much on sauce, it could easily be a much stronger spot. As it stands, it’s okay — just not something I’d crave unless I specifically wanted the sauces.

I’d probably rate it around a 6 or 7 out of 10. Fresh, yes. Flavorful on its own? Not really.“
