“Hands down the best Mexican food in stl!“

“For a casual place this had one of the best waiters ever. It was this young guy that I didn't expect to be super attentive cuz Unfortunately The Stereotype is that they won't be. But he barely even had to talk to us he just anticipated our every need and fulfilled it and went on about his business. We didn't even have to ask for to go boxes.

Oh, the food, the bread pudding definitely lives up to its reputation.“

THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT! Reservations are difficult to secure for 3 but the woman (I believe her name was Grace but don't quote me on that. Please correct me so I can provide her name) who is in charge of reservations explained the process and how to achieve a reservation for 3.
We were sat as soon as our reservation time started! Never happens that fast. 8:30 we were in our seats.
Okay last night was incredible. Our server was genuinely kind. Priscilla was very patient, informative and the most pleasing personality trait was her non invasive style of service. Top notch girly! I loved every moment of service. AND I LOVED how our courses were timed and cleared at the same time. The staff came together like a ballroom dance and cleared our plates and most importantly they reset and prepared us for the next course. You'll be stuffed by the end BUT GET THE SUNDAE!!!! Childhood nostalgia and sooo yummy. I can't explain enough about what a joy this experience was. Service IS NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE. You get what you pay for. I love the intentional small, private, true dining experience. This is just not a turn and burn restaurant. It's an experience. Ugh I can't wait to go back. “My boyfriend and I went on a double date to the aquarium and we’re planning on going somewhere else. We looked across the water and decided last minute to hop in. The inside is very vintage, white tablecloth, but the vibes are very cozy and casual. We were served by the ever so lovely Sierra. AND SHE DESERVES HER FLOWERS AND A RAISE. She suggested this amazing wine called the menage a trois, and so kind and personable. We were conversing after the bill and she left a drop of wisdom. “I treat others how I want to be treated.” We will definitely be back soon. 🤍 Oh and get the crawfish étouffée, and the crab spinach dip! FIRE.“

“We wanted Italian food and we decided to go on the hill to Zia‘s. We ordered pasta dishes, which was extremely nice portion size. The bread was delicious when you dip it in olive oil. I also had the French martini which was delicious. I think if you have a taste for Italian food pasta, you couldn’t find a better place.“

“Had a sign saying they were short staffed and service may take longer than usual. I experienced no lapse in prompt service. Everything was hot and tasty. The only thing I can say negatively is one of the crab lumps was black. Literally black. It should be red. It just looked spoiled. It was only one cluster. Maybe take a minute or two for quality control would be beneficial. All in all this is where I take my daughter for her birthdays at her request. All I can say is when you turn out the crab on the plate, just take a look and if something looks off just throw a different cluster especially for a $150+ meal.“

“We went to Trattorias yesterday and the waitress and her staff helping her were just incredibly amazing! Leslie our waitress was phenomenal!! She told us about the specials and made them sound delicious and well worth our minimal wait - I would highly recommend you go here for all your special occasions!! “First off, Sabrina our server was absolutely amazing, delightful and she was upbeat and did a great job. She even had a cocktail made for my father. I had two smoked old fashioneds, we enjoyed the bang bang shrimp, Imperial dip, our main courses and even desserts Dad had the Bourbon brownie and I enjoyed my Drunken coconut pie. Sabrina was super sweet, energetic and she went over the top, not just for us but for multiple tables. She is an absolute blessing to have as our waitress. “This is a mixed review. First the positives. The waiter Rob was superb. Pleasant personality and attentive but not intrusive. The busboy (I didn’t get his name) was also very professional, nice and efficient. There were six of us in the party and four in the party were happy with their meal.

Now for the shortcomings. I had the tenderloin medallions Oscar. I have honestly never had a tougher cut of meat. It was definitely overcooked. In fact, I asked my wife to try a small piece and she was shocked at how hard it was to chew with it being a tenderloin. The side dish of lyonnaise potatoes were dry and had no seasoning.

My wife had the Queen Cut Prime rib and it, likewise, was not tender in the least. I had a small cut and felt the same way. She did like the side dish of twice baked potatoes, and she really liked the key lime pie.

So, in summary, four of the six were happy. Just two of us weren’t. For the price of the tenderloin medallions and the prime rib entrees, I think the expectation of “tender” is a given with these two entrees. Sadly, the reality did not meet our expectation.

Not a disastrous night by any means, but not a superb one either.

“Most come to the Hill for Italian at the usual places, Zia's, Dominic's and Charlie Gitto's. Most will pass this gem up due to it being in the Drury Plaza hotel, you SHOULDN'T DO THAT. The food is made fresh to order and it clearly shows! The decor is very upscale and perfect for a business lunch or dinner and at $30 per person, a good deal. If you add wine the price will go up but would still be worthwhile due to the quality in evidence.“

“I had the BEST breakfast sandwich burger at Wakey Wakey last week while I was staying at the attached hotel for a women's conference. It was huge & I had to cut it in half & save the rest. Our server Sam was the one who made the suggestion to try it & he was right in his suggestion! He even told me how to reheat it so that it would come out even better than the first time it was served. Our drinks were never less than half full & he was very attentive. You can really tell he takes pride in his work! I also want to note that the breakfast potatoes are AMAZING & I will definitely be going back to get them again! They are something that I have never had at any other breakfast place. My mouth is watering now just typing this. Thank you again for the great suggestions Sam & keep up the great work! “Let me just preface this by saying I moved here from South Texas and have spent more than my fair share of time in Old Mexico. In years of searching for REAL Mexican food in St Louis, I’ve had many disappointments. This place was absolutely fantastic and pure pleasure for an old Texan. It even made me shhh my wife because I wasn’t willing to remove my focus from the delicacy I was partaking in. Can’t recommend this place enough and haven’t been able to stop telling others about it. “I’ll give it 5 stars cause the food fyre. But the black girl that sit at the register send the phone to voicemail and don’t answer when there is other people in there ordering. Some people come from 20+ minutes away and don’t feel like ordering a waiting. Do better with customer service. The attitude is horrible. Try speaking when others enter into your workplace you chose to work at. I can’t stand rude people with attitudes and it’s always our kind. Do better“
