“I am a frequent visitor to Duke Hospital, and I have eaten at Bullocks Barbecue on 3 different occasions. I had full intentions on sampling their barbeque but saw some of the seafood dishes presented to fellow patrons and decided to go against the odds and see if it tasted as good as it looked. I have ordered the shrimp, oysters and other sea fare and it all has been Delicious. The establishment is no frills with memorabilia of famous celebrities who have dined at Bullocks. The wait staff and management are professional, friendly and just Good Folks. I will eventually try their barbecue it looks delicious. It's great to see iconic historic diners surviving and thriving in this very competitive environment. Give this restaurant a serious look, you will not regret it.“

“NEVER have I had a bad meal since about 2015,… Started eating here after my visit a DUMC… My ultimate favorite meal is the Brisket… So tender, and moist, the words cannot do it justice… Also. I like the pulled pork plate… and just the amount of servings… The Mac and Cheese is the best side but my wife argues the Collards are best… But can’t forget the baked beans and I like to add more of their great tasting BBQ Sauce… After all, they are the best in Durham…“

“I will admit that i don’t frequent this place often, but I have to say I LOVE their Pulled Pork Sandwich combined with their Swine Sauce. I like my BBQ on the more “vinegary side” justa FYI. Atmosphere is fine for what it is. I always do take out so i can’t comment on the “dine in” aspect.“

“My husband and I stopped in for a quick dinner and the pricing was really great. The service was amazing! The food was great, there’s so much variety!! The only thing that sucked was the combo we got there was a $2 up charge for ribs which we didn’t mind paying but you only get two ribs. Very meaty ribs that were probably the correct weight, it just didn’t seem enough. However, with that being said these ribs were amazing. All of the food was SO good, the variety of the sauces are great. No matter what you like, you’ll get it!!! 10/10 recommend!!!!“

“We came in to visit some friends and they recommended this place for brunch. It was absolutely AMAZING! They were really quick to get our food out to us and our server was very kind and attentive. I got the brisket and grits brunch option and WOW! The brisket was perfect and I'm typically pretty picky about meat quality. I also order grits anytime I go out to breakfast/brunch, because they are my favorite, and these were hands-down some of the best I've ever had! The only ones that came close were what I've had in New Orleans. 10/10 would come back to Durham just for this restaurant! We also got the beignets and my partner got the eggs Benedict with fried green tomatoes + blue crab! Everything was delicious! I just truly cannot emphasize enough how I will be dreaming of their brisket and grits until I can come back again.“

“My family eats here about twice a month and we are usually very satisfied with our meals. However, yesterday, my husband ordered an 8 piece chicken family pack with 2 sides, 1/2 gallon of tea and some Bbq. Sounds good right? He brings the meal home and I immediately take a peek and grab a wing. I bit into it and it tasted different. I brought the wing up to my husband and asked if the batter looked different than what we usually get. Not only that but the taste was off. It tasted as if the chicken hadnt been seasoned at all. The only compliment i had was that it was “done.” I go down to fix the kids a plate and i took the covering off of the chicken and a few pieces were black- burned to a crisp- inedible. Which explained why the other chicken tasted bad. I told me husband the chicken was burned and he told me he had to wait a long time for the fresh chicken... and apparently the burned chicken was “fresh”. Out of 8 pieces of chicken only 4 were somewhat edible. I was happy we had the BBQ as the second meat but when i tasted it it was bland and dry. Like “i cant swallow dry”. Disappointed, we settled on eating the mac and cheese and green beans and tea. A 1/2 gallon of tea came with the meal, so they filled a gallon up half way which is perfectly fine. Well the tea was rancid. Ive never had “old tea” but this was the equivalent of spoiled milk. The mac and cheese was also bland and uneventful. The kids ate the green beans. I didnt get to taste those but since the kids ate them, I assume they were good. Everything else was trashed. We would have taken it back if we had discovered the monstrosity of it all before it closed. I am HIGHLY disappointed and have never had a problem with inconsistencies in taste until now, but this was enough to stop me from going back.“

I was immediately drawn to their steak and cheese sub with pimento jalapeño cheese spread, grilled onions, and bell peppers. One bite and I was hooked. Being from Texas, we don’t have many spots that serve a steak and cheese sub this perfectly balanced and flavorful. This sandwich blew my mind—it’s comfort food with a southern twist done right. Highly recommend this place to anyone passing through, and I’ll go ahead and say it: y’all need to open up a location in Texas. We need you here!“

First of all, they came the day before to introduce themselves, make sure they knew the location to park the truck so there would be no delay, and they had enough people on hand to take care of the staff in a quick orderly fashion. On the day of our event, they showed up one hour early, staff filtered out and they served 111 people in an hour. The food was wonderful, Romero was so kind. The price, well let's just say - I was very pleased at the discount he offered and we WILL BE USING THEM AGAIN! “Always amazing hot dogs. This particular one is the only one I like to go to. The service is always great and food is hot and made to order. You can get the tailwagger(2 dogs, fries, and a med drink) for $8 and some chamge before tax. I got the bull dog(mustard, chili, and onions), and the ol' yallow(mustard, cheese sauce, and bacon bits). They also sell by the pint, quart and gallon(slaw, brunswick stew, bbq).“
