“Our group (BKForge: Brooklyn for Reproductive and Gender Equity) recently held an event at Finback's Brooklyn location. Because we are an all-volunteer organization, we did not rent dedicated space — but Finback still set aside an alcove just for us, gave us lots of support both before and during the event, and overall made us feel very welcome. Coordinating ahead of time was very smooth, and all our questions were answered right away. Attendees at our event also remarked on how much they enjoyed coming to this spot. “So this was a take out order, and we were looking for Comfort Food. We found just that in an order of plain chicken wings and an order of macaroni and cheese. “Did a solo trip in NYC this weekend. Stopped at the Empire State Building and just started walking in hopes of finding somewhere cool. Deacon Brodie's is small, dark, beautifully decorated, and employs the three best bartenders I have yet to encounter (particularly Chris). While you can't get food here, you can get expertly mixed cocktails using the finest quality garnishments and an ever changing choice of beer. Two freshly refurbished bathrooms as well. “My wife and I were sailing out of New York on October 23rd. We always stay at a local hotel the night before. I did a Google search for a small local Italian restaurant nearby and stumbled on Cavalino's. I made reservations not knowing how crowded Sunday night would be. What a great find. We walked in and didn't even give our name and we were seated immediately. it quickly became evident that Marcelo was the maitre d, waiter, bar tender, busser and chef. What a guy who did it all and made you feel welcome. The food was outstanding and I dine in a lot of Italian restaurants. It was one of the best dining experiences in long time. When I paid our bill I looked for Marcelo only to find him in the kitchen working away. I congratulated him on such a great meal saying I wish we lived closer. He informed me that they may be closing and said maybe we will meet again somewhere else because you never know what life brings your way. Hopefully he continues on in his craft. Thank you Marcelo and staff for a great dining experience.“

“Americana ambience and bar food with a slight and pleasantly surprising spin on the norm. Stopped in one afternoon with the kids after a trip to Panda and was surprised at the simple menu that made me want one of everything. Also very accommodating and fair amount of options regarding dairy free. We ordered burgers, dogs, fries and pretzels (which I can't find on the online menu). I can't praise the burgers enough. As a native of Dyker Heights and a regular in Bay Ridge, I have found it harder and harder to find a good burger but this spot is right on the money. The flavor profile of the dogs was right on and the pretzel was just as good as my homemade German pretzels. Whether there's are made in house I don't know but they are good. I loved the ambiance, music is classic rock, 90's alternative, that kind of vibe and occasionally have live bands. While I wouldn't take my kids here on a Friday night, definitely great for an early family dinner or possibly even a weekend lunch. I walked by this place many times and never thought much of it but I was more than pleasantly surprised and will definitely be going back. Prices are also very reasonable. Reason I gave 4 stars is I'm not a big fan of the potato bun and there was a hair in my food.Dietary restrictions: Dairy free optionsParking: Difficult to park. Good advice if you plan to come on a Thursday is to go by 7PM to be able to get a table. We had the onion tower which was very good and tasty. The mac and cheese bites were served with ranch and too perfection! Not to cheesy and just the right crunch. The nachos were very filling and tasty however a bit over salted. I asked for a mai tai but they offered me a road runner which was just as tasty and sweet. I'm a sweet cocktail type of girl so it worked. I def would come again.“
