“Used to be my favorite place and ordered river vale at least 2-3x per week but hadn't ordered for a long time until recently i had craving for their ox tail combo and Cuban sandwich. sadly no more ox tail and both puerco asado shredded pork dish and Cuban pork were so bland and dry and burnt with the pressed bread which was like a stale burnt roll with 1 or 2 pickles..thats it. was disappointed the puerco asado dish didn't even come with rice and beans as was used to be included in the past. and no phone number available to call and talk to someone. very sad because used to be one of my favorites and probably will not try again.“

“After moving to Bergen County I was on a mission to find the best Jamaican food spot. I’m from Queens, NY and I miss my South Ozone Park / West NY food.

I go to a gym nearby and just randomly found this spot and thank goodness I did.

The food is really good, everything is well balanced in terms of flavor and the hospitality is great.

We’ve all seen that “we don have dat” video and this is the opposite. If he doesn’t have it, give him a minute to work his magic. Your patience will be rewarded.

If you like good seasoned food, just give it a try, you won’t be disappointed. I know I wasn’t. I’ll be coming here every time I crave oxtails and fried chicken.“

“We came to Patrick’s on the Hill for an early dinner, and WOW — everything was soooo good! We started with the jerk wings and Jamaican beef patties, and both were absolutely delicious and packed with flavor.

But the Rasta Pasta with oxtails was the star of the meal! We learned that it’s made from the owner’s mom’s recipe, which made it even more special. The oxtails were tender and flavorful, and the pasta was incredible. You can tell this is food made with love and family tradition.

Our server Tatiana was so kind, helpful, and welcoming and really made us feel at home. Between the amazing Jamaican food and the wonderful hospitality, this place is definitely worth a visit.

The issue is that you can’t really get what you want. Hear me out for example… you can’t get a small order of oxtail….like?! You can only get a medium size with a side. It’s overpriced. Just by looking at it I can tell it’s not even worth the price. Also if you get like a medium size meal with any meat and rice you can’t get it with plantain. It’s extra charge. BUT I WILL SAY THAT THE PORTION IS WORTH IT. THEY GIVE MORE. I’ve tried the Mac and cheese and it was baaaadd. Just cheese and unseasoned roux. That’s if they use roux. The goat meat falls off the bonnnneeee. The rice is perfect; not too mushy and not too rough. I’m on my way there right now😂😂. Is it worth trying? Hell yeah. The filling was delicious and the outside was flaky and light. Delicious empanadas. For our main course my wife had the Cubano and I had the Classic 55 Burger. My wife got sweet potato fries with hers and I got regular seasoned fries. The Cubano was a nice size portion. My wife really enjoyed it And enjoyed the sweet potato fries. “Yummie is where you go for home cooked Jamaican meals in the Bx if you're ever near Bedford or Kingsbridge or on Gunhill, hop on that 28 bus and go to Yummie. Sometimes they don't ave certain foods, but that is because they're breakfast meals like dumplings and rice and peas or it is just that popular. Their business just opened in January of this year, but I am already a regular customer and have been here at least 10 times. There sauce is ALWAYS on point and if ever your rice and peas is tasting a bit dry just ask for some more and they will gladly add some more. The owners, Lloyd and Latricia (I hope I spelled their names correctly) are very friendly and I always have a great experience when I eat there, whether I am solo or with friends or my boyfriend. They already know my order, which is stew chicken with plantains. Come here to get lost in the sauce.“

I loaded up on a mix of mac and cheese, fried chicken, stewed meat, shrimp, and vegetables. My wife’s favorite dish is the oxtail with rice and peas and cabbage of course. Their fried chicken goes well with brown stew chicken gravy. I’ve had their jerk chicken, curry goat, brown stewed chicken, Mac and cheese is also really good. I have been meaning to try the salmon and their shrimp, I think that will be next.
