“I’ve been coming to Tiam Tiam since it was Ding Food Market. Their bento boxes slap, you can’t go wrong. Would also suggest any onigiri, especially the spam supreme, and the Brussels with tofu. Such a hidden gem and you can tell they are passionate about the food they serve! Love this place, five stars forever.“

“The options for good and authentic Asian food in this area are limited. We have done Sakura for takeout a handful of times and they are pretty good for takeout/quick Asian food. The sushi is affordable and the fried rice portion sizes are huge. We have also tried a few of their appetizers including the seaweed salad and dumplings. All the food here tastes good and we have no complaints. Will order takeout from them again.“

“I had a great experience at Maki Sushi while I was in town for work and happened to stumble in for dinner. I sat at the sushi bar and ordered the Sushi Deluxe, which came with 10 pieces of chef’s-choice sushi and a roll — I went with salmon and avocado. Everything was fresh, well prepared, and thoughtfully put together.

Pete, who is both the sushi chef and the owner, was excellent. We struck up a genuinely good conversation while I was eating, and he was friendly, complimentary, and clearly takes pride in what he does. Sitting at the bar felt welcoming and relaxed — the kind of place where you actually enjoy talking to the person making your food.

One small but really impressive detail stood out: Pete noticed I like a little wasabi with my tuna and offered me fresh wasabi without me even asking. For a sushi spot of this size, having fresh wasabi on hand is always impressive — it’s a great little treat, and usually something you only get if you know to ask. That kind of attentiveness says a lot.

The quality of the fish here is excellent. My favorite bite of the night was the salmon belly — rich, buttery, and delicious. The sushi here is definitely geared toward a more classic and approachable palate. It’s simple, clean, and done well, and the quality of the fish and service really shine.

Not only was our food vivacious, extraordinary, and a religious experience for the palate — our server, Sam, was nothing but helpful and attentive throughout our entire meal. “I love coming to Wasai Bistro whenever I’m visiting the east coast. I’ve followed Chef Nelson since his days at Aozora and Wabi Sabi. His food quality, menu options, and value are unmatched in the area. Once you try his food you will understand why he has so many repeat diners. I highly recommend the Mes Reves Roll, Uni and bone marrow ramen, Miso glazed sea bass entree and salmon lover entree but it’s very hard to go wrong with anything Chef Nelson serves. Parking is street parking only but honestly I’ve always had a very easy time finding a spot. BYOB so you can drink what you love.“

The teriyaki is excellent.“

“The restaurant is located in the Dyker Heights section of Brooklyn. They prepare Japanese cuisine. I ordered the sushi bento box. It includes choice of soup or salad, three shumai, rice, and eight pieces of sushi. The sashimi bento box is the same with nine pieces of sashimi. The harumaki are Japanese spring rolls and were crisp. The vegetable gyoza are dumplings with a vegetable filling. The food was fresh, well-prepared and well-priced. Very friendly and helpful staff.“
