I tried the iced oat milk latte, iced strawberry matcha latte, and ube cinnamon bun. The strawberry matcha was delicious and perfectly balanced—not overly sweet, with a strong matcha flavor and just the right amount of strawberry. 🍓🍵 The ube cinnamon bun was another highlight! It was incredibly moist on the inside, and the ube and cinnamon made for such a fun combination of flavors. 💜

They initially forgot about our cinnamon bun, but once we followed up, they brought it out pretty quickly. Overall, this is a great little Hoboken coffee spot for creative drinks and a sweet treat. I’d definitely stop in again!“

“KikiLu Gelato Artigianale — Hoboken, NJ

While visiting Hoboken for the Italian Festival, my friend and I decided it was only right to celebrate with some really good Italian gelato. That’s how we ended up at KikiLu Gelato Artigianale, and I’m so glad we did!

KikiLu is a small, very clean and inviting artisanal gelato shop located on Garden Street in Hoboken. The name itself is a sweet tribute to the owner’s daughters, Chiara (Kiki) and Luna (Lu). The shop specializes in small-batch, Italian-style gelato made with clean, whole-food ingredients, without seed oils, artificial colors, or unnecessary chemical additives.

And the flavor selection? So good—and definitely not easy to choose from! When we visited, the case featured flavors like Coconut Stracciatella with Toasted Almonds, Polenta, Double-Roasted Sicilian Pistachio, Modena Wild Blueberry, Cantaloupe de Sud, Tuscan Salted Peanut with Burnt Caramel, Classic Stracciatella, Sicilian White Prickly Pear, Sicilian Extra Dark Chocolate, Fiore del Latte, Birthday Cake, Amarena, and more.

I went with the Polenta and Double-Roasted Sicilian Pistachio, while my friend chose Classic Stracciatella and Amarena. Everything was absolutely delicious. I especially loved the richness and creamy texture of the Polenta and Pistachio, and they paired surprisingly well together. My friend is a big cherry lover, so the Stracciatella and Amarena combination was definitely a winner for her.

The portions were generous, too. We paid about $8 for two scoops, which I thought was very reasonable for high-quality artisanal gelato. I also loved the presentation—each serving came with a little spoon and an adorable mini waffle cone.

We grabbed two of the stools by the window and spent some time people-watching, enjoying our gelato, and catching up before heading back to the Italian Festival. It was such a simple but enjoyable part of our day.

There’s actually much more to KikiLu than gelato. The shop also has a cannoli bar with allergy-friendly, gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan options, a Lavazza espresso bar serving drinks like lattes and affogatos, and even an extra-virgin olive oil refill station. They also offer fun weekly specials and events, including Taco Tuesdays and W’Affogato Wednesdays. There’s even a second KikiLu location inside Choc O Pain at 1500 Hudson Street, offering a selection of gelato, pastries, and cannoli.

I really appreciated the quality, creativity, and attention to detail behind the shop. There were so many flavors I wanted to try that I already know one visit won’t be enough.

The staff fit right into the scene — friendly without being fake, funny, and super easy to talk to 😊. They make you feel like you’re in on the inside joke of the café, not just passing through.

We didn’t try the food this time, but the coffee was definitely a win. I got an iced cinnamon hazelnut coffee 🧊☕ — smooth, flavorful, didn’t even need sugar. My boyfriend got the pumpkin drip coffee; the pumpkin flavor wasn’t super strong, but it still tasted solid — warm and cozy enough to match the season 🍁.

Prices hover around $5–6, which is pretty standard for Hoboken, and they serve Lavazza coffee — rich, smooth, and consistent every sip.

It’s the kind of place that makes you want to be productive. You could easily set up here for a few hours, do homework, read a book 📖, or just stare out the window people-watching between sips. “I’m I like this place. However, avoid the pastries in the morning. They are not fresh. The staff insists they are, but it's visibly not true. They claim they receive them fresh each morning, but I don't believe that. Whoever their supplier is, they're delivering old pastries. When I mentioned it, all they did was apologize. No refund or replacement was offered.“
