“After a day of sightseeing in NYC, we decided to check out Hoboken for a quick bite. Found this place that looked pretty cheery inside. We ordered two chef bowls, bulgogi and the beef bowl. The beef was juicy, but a bit overcooked for my taste, but the rest of the bowl was very tasty! The Bulgogi bowl was outstanding! Meat was flavorful, but not overpowering like what bulgogi usually tends to be. Staff was very kind and inviting!“

“I absolutely love Purple Rice! The food here is consistently delicious and always worth it. Even though I live in Midtown Hoboken, I find myself stopping by often just to eat here. Everything I’ve tried has been so satisfying. The staff is also very friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which makes the experience even better. We also had the fried cauliflower, saag burrata side and duck for main dish. For dessert we ordered silvana, which is so delicate with many layers of flavors: airy meringue, coffee cream, pistachios.

“Had the Rainbow Roll (which had vegan BBQ char siu, tuna, and shrimp), the Peking Duck Bao, and the Ube crème brûlée. All were really great - the Ube crème brûlée was probably the most surpising and interesting. Portions were still pretty big despite these being small plates though! Had a wonderful time tonight. Came in and got a myself a couple plates. Each meal was full of flavor and well done and well prepared. The waitress I had the pleasure of taking care of me was amazing.

I had the Quail and the Pig Out (for two). Except no way in hell am I sharing that with anyone lol. I ate that for myself!!!

I will say the pig out was such a cool and different kind of take on food. It’s one of those plates. You’ll probably always remember. I have dine at James beer award, winning new restaurants, and all sorts of Michelin rated and starred restaurants. The pig out is a meal I will always remember. And to me that says something.

And this is what the pig out is all about and worth the hype in my opinion …

The Pig Out. Chef Chen takes whole Berkshire pork bellies and cures them in thyme, ginger and salt for five hours before confiting them in duck fat for 15 hours. He then shreds the meat and lays it out on a sheet of pig skin, pressing it down and allowing it to cool. This create a terrine of sorts, with the gelatin in the meat binding everything. Once cooled, the pork is sliced into two inch diamonds and heated in a pan, rendering the skin shatteringly crisp. The pork is served with an arugula salad dotted with persimmons (the fruit changes seasonally) and candied walnuts, peanut noodles, a ginger scallion sauce, and a squeeze bottle of sambal. Chen recommends putting a little of the last two on each each piece of pork to achieve the “perfect bite.”

“I ordered online, and everything arrived fresh and beautifully prepared. The sushi was absolutely delicious and incredibly fresh. You could really taste the freshness of the fish, they were tender, buttery, and full of flavor. I love it!!!!!!!!!!

The beef with Chinese broccoli was also excellent. The beef was tender and flavorful, the Chinese broccoli was crisp and fresh, and the sauce was rich and savory without being too heavy. My daughter especially loves the beef with Chinese broccoli — it’s one of her favorite dishes!

Overall, everything was fresh, flavorful, and very satisfying. I would definitely order again!“

“This is a 2nd floor Japanese-Thai speakeasy in Alphabet City where the food menu leans toward Japan while the drinks are Thai-inspired with the menu designed by veteran NYC bartender and Phetchaboon native Sayparn. Her and her partners opened 11 Tigers in 2022 (year of the tiger which symbolizes success). The staff do an excellent job of mixing food and entertainment.“

“Finally had the opportunity to come to this place. I would like to start off with the service. When we arrived it was packed which we were not surprised. The lady at the front was very friendly. But our server not so much, i get people have off days but we did not feel welcomed. We ordered ceviche, white rice and beans & the chicharron de pollo. As someone that loves ceviche this was not the greatest ceviche i have ever had. The apples and celery threw me off but the reason why it was not great is because the juice had that seafood tate rather than the lime zesty taste. The rice and beans were amazing!! Perfect texture and taste. The chicharron de pollo is the best chicharron i have ever had. My husband and I literally locked eyes on the first bite. It was juicy and had the perfect crunch and taste. “This was the coolest and most unique dining experience I’ve ever had. It was also the most expensive I’ve ever done, but by the end I was convinced it was worth every penny and they could be charging a lot more and it’d still be worth it.

I went for my partners birthday and two others were celebrating their birthday and the dessert course (which was insane how good it was) had a candle and they brought little cocktails to everyone and we all cheered to the birthday people by name.

We got the alcohol beverage pairing which I highly recommend. First cocktail is shown here and then a few more of the glasses.

Service was impeccable and genuine. Especially Kiyomi (guessing on spelling), her warmth and kind banter put us at ease and we were talking about her all night.

“I found this restaurant on the IN KIND app, and the menu looked great. I don’t live far, so I was a little skeptical since I had not heard of it, I used to own a restaurant in the neighborhood, and I eat out several times a week in Manhattan and Brooklyn at the same places that I love, and I also love cooking amazing food for family and friends.

Let’s say, I was pleasantly surprised, and actually blown away! My family is Jamaican, so fusion isn’t always my thing, but this restaurant did the most amazing job with all of the food! The proteins honored the culture, and the fusion elements actually mirrored my favorite Chinese Jamaican spot in Ocho Rios, so all of it honored its roots! ON TOP OF THAT, the vegetables were fresh and flavorful—not overcooked! Excellent. And the jasmine rice was the best rice that I have had anywhere in NYC. PERIOD. A chef that cares about the RICE is definitely putting his foot in the rest of the meal! I had to call back to get the name of Chef Bunny - I needed to know who COOKED that food! And Amanda was extremely helpful with taking our order and fixing a little boo boo in our pickup order. She had the incorrect item Lyft couriered to us - I appreciate the extra effort and expense, as I know restaurants have a tight profit margin. I will definitely be back to dine in - can’t wait.

Our group got the oxtail, jerk chicken, pineapple and basil fried rice, and the ORANGE chicken - I tasted and ate all - each one better than the next. And we topped it off with the bread pudding (and added Haagen Das and whipped cream at home).“

We got the High Mixed appetizer and the chicken pad Thai. The sampler was good. Spring rolls were good and the dumplings were good. Couldn't do the crab for seafood allergy but the fourth item, we didn't like. It was the texture and didn't have the flavor I was expecting based on the presentation. Service was ok. They had a little bit of a crowd and got them out of there promptly. The pad Thai was really good. It had the perfect amount of flavor and it was light. We needed it to be light because it is hot outside and we still have a lot of walking to do. Overall, it was good. That last item on the High Mixed can go.“

“Stopped by for the veg chow mein and really enjoyed it. The flavor was great, well seasoned and tasty. It came to around $12 total, and honestly the portion felt a little small for the price. I wish they'd give a bit more, but the taste made up for it and I'll definitely be coming back to try more dishes.

I went on a Sunday and there was plenty of parking but I am sure it would be more difficult on a weekday until after 6pm when street parking becomes available. The burger and fries very solid, the el mensajero drink was excellent, I had some toast with ricotta, honey and almonds that was really good as well. It wasnt very crowded but the space is awesome I would like to go back on one of their event days. Overall good experience will come back for sure.“
