“Lived in Kearny for quite some time but only went here a few times and honestly I wasn’t crazy about the food. Not that it was bad but I always always always ordered the empanadas & for some reason, the inside was always cold. I ordered other food & it was good. But it’s a great atmosphere & never seen problems or fights, cosas asi but the only complaint I definitely will say is the music. I absolutely love when bars have the music videos up or videos of live shows, but stop playing boleros at a bar. People are drinking. Wanting to have fun. Playing boleros makes people wanna kill themselves lolol. It’s super depressing. Even though the songs are great but not for a bar. Consider doing a digital jukebox where the customers pick strictly, la musica latina and you’ll most likely definitely get a bigger clientele. I know I would waste my money on it lol. “Always promised myself on my next trip to NYC I would go to The Dead Rabbit. I am so pleased I got to do it. The staff the cocktails the food and the decor & cleanliness were A1. Loved the welcome my friend and I got, (even when we were a bit late for our booking) throughout the service from the fabulous servers. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Bloody brilliant 👏“

“Came here with some of my friends last week and we had a great meal. We got burgers, fries and some other meats. Now all 3 of my friends that came r Allison, bob, and Matt. They all work in an office and sit at a cubical all day. They definitely appreciate me taking them for dinner. We got here and it’s definitely a dive bar atmosphere I’m not used to that but it was a fun time. My friends gave it bad at home and me taking them out for dinner gave them time to vent. Allison said that her 14 yr old son crashed her car because she didn’t give him gas money, bob said that his wife tried to strangle him with her boot laces because he forgot to put soap in the washer and the clothes stunk, and Matt said that his husband did not pleasure him in bed as he had hoped for. Then all the sudden as we were eating Allison decided it would be a lovely time to start her period. She bled all over the chair so me , Matt and bob started to laugh and bully her. The staff was very helpful to her and we ended up just leaving after we ate. We were gonna stay for some beers but we decided we wanted to go home. Definitely come check this place out it’s worth ur time !“

We decided to go to this place on a whim and it turned out to be one of the best decisions ever. The atmosphere was incredible. Everyone in there was so cool and the bartender was fantastic and very helpful. She recommended the Jack Daniels burger so we both went with it. When I tell you we both dreamed about this burger for our entire trip. We ended up going back to this place two more times. It was such a great local place with great people. The food (across the street at Dingos) is top notch and fairly priced and I've never had poor service at the bar. It ONLY loses one star because I have had many friends (and bands) who have Not had good experiences there, and sometimes that varies greatly depending on who is working the shift and what kind of mood they are in at the time. But I always try to encourage bands to play here - the stage is SMALL and there's no green room but unless you're a bunch of pretentious jerks, the staff WILL take care of you, and your fans will be grateful for the up close and more personal experience that you simply cannot get at big venues.“

We hosted my dad’s birthday at Schmitty’s and it was perfect. We rented out the indoor and outdoor space privately for a few hours, which gave us plenty of room to celebrate with family and friends in a relaxed, fun setting.

The staff at Schmitty’s were incredible—friendly, professional, and truly went above and beyond to help make the event special. They even recommended a fantastic musician for live music, who we ended up hiring, and it brought such a great energy to the night.
