“I’m so happy I came across this Jamaican restaurant! Every dish here is freshly prepared. Not sure who the chef is here, but give that man a raise! Lol….authentic Jamaican food is definitely a big plus for this location. They give you many options aside from their famous rice and peas with a side of chicken. They also have a variety of soups on their menu. Their prices are very fair and for that reason I will definitely be back, and this time for some good ol’ oxtails! “While waiting to attend my uncle's repast I figured the food may not be Guyanese vegan/plant based friendly. I googled several Caribbean restaurants between the funeral parlor and the repast location. I was detailed, you'll find 3 Caribbean restaurants on the same street. However the ladies at the front at GG were welcoming and so helpful in finding something I could eat.
I had Bora and Chow Ming with plantains. The homemade ginger beer was good too. My entire family was able to get some Guyanese food (non vegan).

“I'm not from NJ, but I accidentally drove 40 mns to this place because I was craving haitian food. All I can say is I was not disappointed!
It started with their customer service, because when I realized how far it was and wanted to cancel, they offered to drive it to me, which I declined but was nice of them nonetheless.
The food was fresh, super delicious and on the large order, they give you enough food to feed you twice. The macaroni salad was great, duri djondjon was awesome and the Tasso kabrit was excellent. If you're in Irvington or close by, this is one spot that I'd definitely recommend!“

“I ordered from Magela's for the very first time today, July 12, 2025, through Uber Eats. I ordered Legume w/rice and sos pwa, and also Griot with plantains. The food was delicious! I want to make a suggestion, the legume had a piece of crab in it (I have seafood allergies), perhaps make a note on Uber Eats, hence I should've done my due diligence and called to inquire, but most Haitian restaurants I order from have beef or no meat at all. I attempted to contact the restaurant, but the lady who answered, I guess, was not in the mood to understand my broken-down Creole, so the phone was placed down until I hung up around 6pmish and have been off the line until now, and it's 8:36pm. “This place has in this town for 28 years, there is a reason why they have been around so long. The owner is this wonderful sweet lady that, she is definitely Jamaican be a those Pattie’s hit different. The oxtails are succulent and falls off the bones, the plantain’s are sweet and crispy on the edges. If you’re looking for delicious Jamaica food go here, always call before you go because she starts cooking in the morning and at times the food isn’t ready until after 12pm but it’s very much worth the wait. ????The prices are very reasonable but those Pattie’s are to die for.“
