“Small place ran by a lovely couple with all the signature classic Romanian dishes! This place is a complete hidden gem! The eggplant salad starter is just like my grandmother and mother make, the meats are excellent - portion sizes are huge and everything tastes like a solid Romanian place on my visits to Romania. The star today was the Papanasi - a classic Romanian cheese donut! One of the best I had ever! Highly recommended! Will definitely come again!“

“We passed by this restaurant last week on our way to Irish Rep Theater and decided to give it a try. What a wonderful find! It is a charming restaurant with an attractive open kitchen and nice counter to watch the action. Tables are well spaced and comfortable. From the moment we sat down our server, Milos, could not have been more hospitable. He knew the menu well and was helpful with suggestions on both food and wines. He was professional and efficient and welcoming. The food was outstanding. They have a happy hour with delicious oysters and a nice variety of spreads and other small plates. A meal could easily be made at happy hour. The food was beautifully plated and delicious and of note the sauteed shrimp were perfectly cooked. There is much more on the menu we would like to try. We will be returning with a larger party next time to share many delicious plates. A wonderful addition to our NYC favorite spots.“

“First time there for myself. My wife had been there recently for lunch. OMG, amazing. We started with their homemade, warm Pita with Babaganush (sp?). Awesome. I had their Arugala salad, which I like wherever I go. This was amazing as well. Then we had our entrees. None of us could finish our meals, they were so plentiful and delicious. We each took home doggy bags. We told them we couldn’t possibly eat desserts so we ordered some to go. They then brought out hot Turkish teas for us AND a plate of a custard for us to share. Delicious!!! WOW! This place jumped right up near the top of our list for favorite restaurants. We will definitely be back.“

“Nice Mediterranean spot, might want a reservation as it is a bit small. Excellent dessert selections and pastries. We enjoyed the calamari, hummus, and the mixed grill and decided the lamb chops were the best part. All of it was delicious but I would order just lamb chops next time, the mixed grill is a nice way to try several meats. The hummus and pita were very good as was the calamari and the sauce it was served with was very nice as well.“

My husband had the tagliolini al Amalfi limone, which had bright notes of lemon balanced with saltiness from the cheese. For dessert, we shared the dark chocolate mousse, which was delicious — rich, not too sweet, and ample portion for sharing. The cocktails are also good.

“We had a very tasty and satisfying small dinner which consisted of an appetizer of perfectly spiced lamb sambousek with a chicken shawarma wrap split between us. The one chicken sandwich was ample and more than enough food for both of us.

Our waitress Marcela was very elegant and explained all of our questions about the portion sizes, ingredients, etc. She was very accommodating, bringing sauces like gatlic yogurt sauce and red chili sauce to complement what we ate.
