My favorites were the Lamb Adana, grilled meatballs and balloon bread paired with the Karişik meze tabaği.-I also thoroughly enjoyed the Sutlac (rice pudding) and kazandibi (milk pudding). This was my first time ever trying it.-This is a great place to visit if looking for authentic Mediterranean/Turkish cuisineVegetarian options: Great selection of plant based items such as falafel, eggplant stew, lentil dishes, an array of salad options, pasta and pizza.Parking: There is metered parking throughout the block of the restaurant“

“It’s shocking there isn’t more Turkish restaurants in the city. This isn’t top end, more like mid, but done well. Prices have increased over the years but still pumping out excellent kebabs. A sandwich is good for 1 and a platter for two, unless you’re beast of an eater. The lamb cubes are surprisingly never dry and always tender. Adana kebabs are by go to.“

“The taste of the food was great. If you say you can't get away from Turkish flavors in the center of New York, you should definitely visit this place.Note: It is a restaurant that serves alcohol.Parking: Since it is located right on the main street, I would not recommend coming by car.“

“This was our second visit to AnTalia. We were so impressed with the first one we went back with two different people than the first visit to get another view point. The verdict was unanimous, this was now our Turkish restaurant of choice and we will return at the end of April on our next visit to New York City.“

“We ordered stuffed eggplant/pepper, shakshuka grilled octopus, mantı, Sultan's bliss and Nar kebab. They were all legendary. I have never come across a restaurant in US that serves such delicious and meticulous Turkish food. I love dolma but while frozen is much more profitable and easier for restaurant , it is almost impossible to find a place that makes dolma in house. Since they said they make every item on the menu in house, we decided to try it and it was perfect. I wanted to order everything on their menu and I'm sure I would have enjoyed them all just as much. Above all, they have the best and real Kazandibi you can eat in US. I ate so many simple puddings that looked and named like Kazandibi... It was truly a wonderful dinner. Since our hotel was opposite way from the restaurant, we had to walk for 20 minutes, but after dinner, we walked to the hotel singing songs with happiness. You are amazing, keep it up. We will definitely come back.“

“My partner and I LOVE shawarma mia. We’re here at least weekly to grab a quick, healthy, and well-priced lunch! We usually grab a chicken pita on most days, but if we’re feeling especially hungry, the wrap is always more than enough. The folks who work here are so friendly and efficient. Food is so fresh and flavors are fantastic. Definitely recommend!“

“I don't ever really write reviews, but after today's visit I wanted to share. I have been going to Cafe Turkey since they first opened, the food is very yummy, fresh, the service is amazing. Today I went there at 9PM, after a long day at work. They were getting ready to close, no one was there but they opened the back area for me to have dinner, turned on the heat, let me take my time to eat didn't rush me, AG was very welcoming and so kind to check if I needed anything and let me stay after they close for the day. It felt like a family not a just business. Thank you AG for making my night feeling so welcome at my local favorite restaurant in Astoria.“

“Absolutely outstanding! I recently visited Pidde Lahmajun and was blown away by both the flavor and service. Tunç and the entire team truly know how to make a customer feel special. Every bite of the Lahmajun was a delightful journey of taste, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The ambiance was welcoming, and the staff, especially Tunç and his friends, were incredibly attentive and friendly. It's rare to find a place that excels in both food quality and customer service, but Pidde Lahmajun does just that. A solid 10/10 experience. Highly recommend!“

“Exceptionally good beef Doner in the typical style found in Istanbul or Berlin. Tastes just like the veal hind leg meat once only sourced in genuine venues such as Yatagan of Macdougal Street.Highly recommended when one experiences that hankering for traditional doner. Only downside is that in 2024 they charge $13 USD for a wrap or gyro less than 1/3rd the size of Yatagan's $2.75 serving. At least you can have sutlac (rice pudding) for $6 instead of the $8 most other places charge these days...“

“Came with 2 friends.Sandwiches and fries are great!Staff service is amazing. Guy gave us sanitizing wipes and extra napkins when he saw that we ran out.How would i describe the food? The fries r like mcdonalds fries but crispier and seasoned well. The no fork sandwich is like a largeeee costco hotdog with a toasted, really soft and light bun. Bread isnt too filling; perfect for a light lunch. The meat/cheese interior was supreme though“

“Nice interior, service was good and very friendly. We tried the hummus - it was alittle bland. Had chicken kebab and my husband had lamb shish kebab with yogurt. My chicken kebab was good - not overcooked and not dry. Salad on plate was undressed - not sure why. My husband said his lamb shish kebab with yogurt was not hot enough. Overall, a decent meal but nothing that special.“

“The place inside has a great ambiance, very classy with turkish vibrant decor. Ordered lamb shish kebab, tasted well, paired well with the Jalepeno and the white sauce, but tiny bit dry. The red lentil soup was smooth, wish though had a bit of spice, bit on the safe, bland side. The tiramisu was so great, ordered two more to go, tasted deliciously fresh!?Overall, bit small portion of entrées for the price. However, did not disappoint ? If ever in the area, would definitely come again! ?“

“We had my 50th birthday at this restaurant! It was a lovely time, the patio was reserved for us, a large group of 22. The appetizers were delicious, fresh and plenty. The main course was also very good. Everything came out on time, and served properly at the right temperature. The staff is very attentive, quick. Although it was march, the temperature in the patio was maintained for us to our comfort. “Second time to Bunny and was not disappointed. The food was even better than I remembered. A standout for me was the Garlicky Labne w/ Ras-El-Hanout carrots and chili butter. Was served with homemade, fresh out of the oven bread in a paper bag. Done right.I will say that it was a bit disappointing to only have water to drink (no non-alcoholic beverages.) Feel like I missed out on a part of the experience drinking just water.Overall, a delicious spot for a satisfying meal. Cash or Venmo only.“

“In the heart of the city, there's a Turkish restaurant that stands out in its simplicity and the warmth of its people. It's a place where the food speaks of a rich history, a legacy of seafarers who, after months at sea, longed for hearty meals upon their return. Their cuisine evolved to be fulfilling, often rich in fats - a necessity for those harsh times.I encountered a Turkish lady there, a familiar face from another local establishment. Her presence adds an authentic touch to the place, reminding one of the genuine roots of the dishes served. Turkish cuisine, inherently rich, poses a challenge for eateries striving to adapt to healthier preferences. This restaurant, however, has nearly mastered this balance. While not entirely aligned with my palate, the food is compelling enough to keep me returning. So, in the spirit of earnest recommendation, yes, visit this Turkish spot. It's a place where simplicity and sincerity reign, offering flavors that echo a storied past, somewhat adjusted to fit our contemporary tastes.“

“This is a hidden gem right under your nose in Hell’s kitchen, off 8th Ave. I have been staying there for months, and it never showed up on Google Maps- what a MISS!!We went there for a late dinner, and were delighted. The ambiance, food, service is top notch. They have a great variety of healthy options, vegan and of course traditional Turkish cuisine, everything mouthwatering and delicious and on your table within minutes. We had a spinach borek, and it tasted of my mother’s placinta, a taste of my childhood. Definitely had a Proust Madeleine moment. So count on me- I will be back?Turkish tea and baklava taste exactly like ones in Istanbul- so bottom line, if you’re not there, you’re missing out!Their prices include tip, so as far as NYC goes it’s a fair deal“

“I have dined here several times for lunch and happy hour and usually order salads but this was the first time I had dinner with visiting relatives. It was superb! We had the 3 small plates with the red caviar whip, baba ganoush and labenah and they were utterly creamy and flavorful. The lentils and dessert were really good too. And of course, their famous bread is addictive and the server read my mind as he placed another serving without me having to request more! The rioja was terrific and the meal was truly delicious with a relaxing atmosphere! We noticed the place was closing a couple hours later and they graciously let us linger a bit. Can not wait to return for dinner and delving deeper into the menu!“

“This is my second time eating here. First one was long time ago (I don’t live around) for Ramadan dinner. This time was for lunch. They have good soups and good pide. I had kelle paca (lamb head meat in a broth) and kusbasili pide. Both were delicious. My sons had red lentil soup and pastrami pide, they loved it. Owner and workers are very friendly and always pay attention to the table. This place is far to my home but if I pass by again definitely would stop either for eat-in or takeout.“

“I enjoyed my food and the service was great. At certain points, it almost felt too attentive from the servers. I got the chicken kebab - it was Smokey and had a good flavor. We also had the baklava - which came with some gelato and was great to split. The only thing is that we also ordered the baba ganoush and although it was good - it was $10 for a small serving. But overall I thought the food was good, it was a nice dark environment, and the staff was friendly.“

“The place I'd well lit, comfortable, and elegant without being ostentatious. The service is friendly and efficient. The food is fabulous! The phyllo scrolls stuffed with feta were divine and we could eat them forever. I had the lamb Adana and it was delicious! So flavorful. My friends has the falafel and the manti Turkish ravioli. Both were good but the manti was a new experience for us all. The mint flavor is strong in the yogurt sauce which we all loved. The texture and flavor of the ravioli in combination with the sauce makes you want to savor it and gobble it up all at once. Unfortunately, two of us were on medications that affect our appetites so we may have looked like we weren't enjoying ourselves as much as we actually were and this appeared to cause concern. They really want you to enjoy what you're eating and it's wonderful they take pride in what they do. What we didn't eat there, we gladly took with us! I'd you're looking for a reasonably priced delicious place to eat in that area, come here! It's wonderful!“

“We had dinner here with our booking beginning at 7pm. It was quite full and there was only one server/host, I think the owner of the place, but she was able to cater to us among all other customers in a timely manner. The restaurant closed at 10pm but my friend and I lost track of time in conversation. We were not even asked to leave as there was still a party of 6 people and ourselves (party of 2). The host was so accommodating and welcomed us staying until after we were well done (sometime between 11pm -12am). Not once were we asked to leave. Also on dessert, we were able to get their almond pudding even around 11pm, and after the kitchen closed (which was something we wanted to taste while there). Overall it was a memorable experience - food, Turkish wine & the service. It's my second time being there. I would go again.“

“A bit of Mediterranean cuisine treasure hunt led me here.Went here for my birthday. Happened to reserve the wrong place but the host was kind enough to give us a table for 1hr and 45 mins. However, was slightly sad when the table in front of us, who was also having a birthday received a free dessert yet we weren’t offered anything.Appetizer:Slow cooked short rib pideThe eggplant spread under the slow-cooked tender rib adds a nice flavor on top of the crunchy crust and filling cheese. The pide is a simple joy to indulge. Reminds me a lot of the cheese boat, but the pide has a bread more similar to a toasted flat bread.AtomThe charred eggplant with spicy labneh. Different to what I know was Baba ganoush, the choice of labneh to combine with eggplant, rather than tahini, reduces fatness and adds acidity. Salty (maybe a bit over salty) and spicy. The choice of the pairing bread is interesting: not pita or some Mediterranean bread but rather some toast slices.Main course:Lamb shankShank is cooked tender and fall off the bone, but lacks seasoning. On the contrary, the orzo risotto is cooked perfectly: texture is right, and full of flavor and umami from meat juice and porcini.EristeThe Turkish pasta with lamb and spice and labneh sauces. Reminds me of a dish that I grew up eating, the Xinjiang stir-fried Rice noodle. Nothing is more classical than lamb and cumin. The addition of labneh added creaminess and acidity, great to balance the heaviness of lamb.Didn’t try their dessert always curious with salep-added Turkish ice cream. Not sure if they gave it here but will try their dessert if have a chance.“

By far, the best gyro I had in NY (been to Turkey, Egypt, Germany, Holland, and Sweden, etc so I've had a fair share internationally as well). The staff was also super nice and the gyros are affordable (live in Midtown West where a gyro is like $15).In a great central area, also near NYU.
