I went all the way from Jersey City to get a plate of Frituras... which consisted of Pork Chops, Fried Chicken, Salami, and fried Plantains and it did not disappoint! “I would've given it 5 Stars because we had a great time with the fabulous DJ spins. Fun! I had arroz con pollo which was very good and had the coconut flan which did not taste the coconut and want as good as I would think. We had an issue with the waitresses way of attending the table. Not friendly at all and tried to charge us $16 for a drink that stayed $14 on the menu. I thought it was an error until she said that drink has 4 liquors,. I explained that it didn't matter if there were 10 liquors in the drink, when your menu states differently that's what you charge. Hope the manager or owner has a talk with her to be friendlier. Also no coffee which is weird being that it's Latin.“

“Crazy good empanadas - my partner and I shared the empanada flight as a takeout order, and I'll be thinking about these for a while. Nice variety of fillings, crusts, and sauces - definitely recommend ordering the flight to get acquainted with everything Titi's has to offer. In particular the puff pastry crusts were so flaky and buttery, but the corn and platano shells are great too. So glad to have this place in the neighborhood and can't wait to return.“

“The decor at this morsel of Costa Rican culture is aesthetically pleasing and if you’re in the area, this is one of the better Tico spots. We watched Costa Rica beat Paraguay in a Copa America game while eating pupusas, un Casado and Tacos Ticos and totally hit the spot. Especially since they served some salsa Lizano on the side.“

I love the Cuban sandwich here and the owner makes the mustard himself too apparently! Great w Yuca fries (comes w white sauce) and Plantains.

The Pernil Combo was great as well. Tender pull-apart pork, paired with Hot sauce (self-serve)

The only thing is that the menu looks slightly overwhelming without many pictures but don't let that discourage you“

What was good?
When for starters the chicken was indeed quite good. But in the context of other Peruvian chicken I’ve had in the past, it was not extraordinary. Yes the skin was crispy and the meat was juicy. The arroz chaufa hit all the savory notes that I was looking for too. The sangria didn’t disappoint either.

What was bad?
Overall, not too much other than the sporadic and slightly chaotic service. Not necessarily any marks against Pio Pio for this, I think it was just a busy night.

The main issue I had was the frozen chicken used in the arroz chaufa. In a restaurant that is known for its chicken, you wouldn’t think they would cheap out on it at any point. But, this was simply not the case. It was dry, chewy, and clearly not as fresh as their rotisserie chicken.

It didn’t scare me off entirely from going back, but I was disappointed to say the least. Most people have extremely low bars for chicken as a meat they would spend money on at a restaurant. Don’t give people a reason to complain I just don’t get it. Looking back on it, I would have said something or sent the dish back, not because I’m an asshole, but because I know they can do better.“

“I was looking for a specific type of soup, called a lot of the Spanish restaurants no one made it. Found this restaurant and from the first phone call they are truly amazing. They were very attentive to what I wanted. Quick and efficient. Another time I went to the place to place my order, even better the young lady was super sweet and the man there was so attentive to my order. Will definitely keep on ordering. “Best food in the neighborhood. Been coming here for 4 years and have yet to be disappointed. You literally cannot go wrong, but my favorites are the oxtail, the pernil, and the stewed chicken. Don’t forgot to add either yellow rice or rice with black beans and some extra pinto beans to top it off.“

“I found this place by a simple google search! Well it’s a gem! Everything was delicious! We had for an appetizer the empanada sampler and wow!!!! My husband had the skirt steak tacos which were delicious and seasoned to perfection! I had the city island basket and it may have been the best fried fish I’ve ever had! “Since the most rated diners were like a 30 minute walk from Hoboken’s train station I would definitely recommend this place if you need something quick and nearby. I love Hispanic food, but this food was perfect! I got their breakfast French toast and my sister got their pancakes. I swear these typical sweet/bread type breakfast foods are not my thing yet the way they made them tasted so different and flavorful, for me this was unique. There Cuban empanadas are very savory, especially with the sauces they provide. My only critique is that lemonade, as it’s very bitter bc it had lime and it’s not sweet at all. The lemonade is $7.30 with card, and my meal was $9.99. Our server was very sweet, I would recommend coming here to have sweet/savory options met here. Also to me breakfast here is very affordable because with me and my sisters (3 people) our bill came to $56 with card, so most places in Hoboken are pricey but this place can offer what you need at an affordable price.“
