“We went inside. We were the only ones waiting. They were slow. Took between 5 to 10 minute before someone came to the register to take our order. Took another 5 minutes for us to get our change. No one's in the drawer. On a better note the food was good.“

Everyone who works here absorbs so much chit chat from the customers that I would think the baristas are professionally trained to listen reflectively. No coffee shop cares more for their customers and allows them to express themselves as much as Gleaners. “We came here during the height of FIFA. Even so, it wasn't that crowded inside. We got the pumpkin & banana bread and the drip coffee. I believe it was the owner that was taking our order; she was very nice! The pumpkin bread was very delicious! There was also a good amount of seating inside, although it looks small from outside. The interior and overall atmosphere of the cafe was very welcoming and relaxing.“

“my favorite coffee shop in philly. used to be my go to neighborhood coffee shop because i just live right around the corner. i now live in a different neighborhood but i still come here because the coffee is so good & i guess the cherry on top is the baristas are consistently very nice & friendly as well. every time i come here, its always a nice litte treat. the vibe is always right. theres some seating inside, but theres seating outside too which is nice. & the neighborhood is nice & quiet. could just sit, sip my coffee, disassociate or people watch haha“

“This coffee shop is phenomenal & coffee is solid! Every staff member showed great, Greek-style hospitality and was very courteous during my first visit. They took the time to explain the menu. The pastries are good, the space is very clean, and there is comfortable seating with a great window view for laptop work.

“I’ve walked by this spot so many times, and it seemed every time I was hungry they were closed (closed on weekends) but today I finally stepped in. I ordered 2 bánh mìs and a Vietnamese coffee. Pete, the owner/operator of the spot was the only one there and we instantly jumped into great conversation about the music scene in Philly back in the late 90s. We ended up knowing a lot of the same people. Philly is a tight knit group. So even before eating the food I was already a fan of this spot. Pete served me his special take on Vietnamese coffee while we talked and he made the sandwiches. The iced coffee was excellent, but different and less sweet than Vietnamese coffee I’ve had in the past. He also used ice cubes made of coffee which was an added bonus for a coffee junkie like myself. After we talked for nearly 20 min, I walked home with my sandwich and WOW! Such a solid bánh mì! I told him to make it like he would make it for himself (spicy) and he knocked it out of the park. I’ll be back and I’ll be bringing all my music friends here when they are in the neighborhood. I highly encourage Olde City residents as well as Philly locals to give this place a try!“

I also had a regular latte and an almond cappuccino . I’d love to see the milk switched to Califia or Pacific barista, especially for the almond. It would take these drinks to a whole new level.“

“Not the prettiest cafe I’ve been to. They could decorate more. I had the egg tart it was incredible. Focaccia sandwich phenomenal. The only thing that was bad was the matcha latte iced. If you look at the photo you can see the powder was not properly sieved which made it taste very watery.“
