If you stray from tradition, it usually gets worse, not better. Suraya manages to bend tradition just enough and in just the right ways to surprise and delight those familiar with traditional Lebanese cuisine. A Paisan friend at a S Philly Espresso joint which I thought had the best Cappuccino in the city that Grand Caffe L’Aquilla was the best. After Holy Thursday at St Patrick’s I went there and I have to concur. And the best Barista , MattFriday my friend and I who was with me Thursday went on Good Friday and had Dinner. Ordered 2 veg omelets, lox Benny, chocolate chip pancakes, blueberry pancakes, and French toast. Sorry no pics of the pancakes. Kids were too hungry. Very, very impressed by the quality of the beans as they made an excellent cup of coffee freshly ground in my chemex. Just as impressive as the coffee, however, was the customer service. I received a handwritten note from Mike and Edna thanking me for my order and explaining how they chose to include a sample pack of coffee beans based on the flavor profile of the ones in my order. So if I may give the very nice owners a suggestion; choose for very good teas like Damman or Rishi (e.g.). Then also for tea drinkers (or mixed couple as we) they will be even more worth wile to go. Bistro seating was available inside and outside. It was very comfortable overall.The menu offered many choices from prepared sandwiches to baked goods. I wasn’t planning on eating, but then I saw scones - I had to try one. Cranberry - and it was delicious! “I work right down the street from Top Hat and when I'm craving a crafted beverage: its SUCH a good choice. It recently had a Vanilla Nitro Cold Brew on special that was just the perfect blend of sweetness, smooth Nitro, and crispness. I would drink iced coffee any day of the week, and I would drink this one in particular every day. I've had the ballsy goat waffle on other trips and its the perfect blend of sweet and savory: balsamic reduction, goat cheese, strawberries: it sounds unusual but its honestly just the right balance.
