“We had excellent service on Canada Day 2024 with our friendly waitress Pal. She was very helpful and kept checking on our party of 12 ages from 3 to 80, to make sure everyone had what they wanted. She put treats on the Robot and had the children go get their treats off the tray on it, which was a highlight for them. We could tell she enjoys waitressing because she does it to perfection. The food was delicious and plated appetizingly, too!”

“We had gone out with friends for a lunch and tried all the different menu items. We thoroughly enjoyed each and every meal, be it the beef pockets, noodles, dumplings but the best one was the fried rice. The flavours are authentic, meal portions are great and the ambience is amazing and the best part is it’s all halal. If you are in downtown, I highly recommend trying this restaurant!”

“We had an awesome lip smacking dinner today. Authentic desi Chinese main course and great tandoori for appetizers. The masala fries was a sweet surprise which is a first time for us in halifax restaurant menu. Hope you keep serving great food like this thanks”

“Well worth a trip across the bridge! I rarely go to Dartmouth, but had an appointment this aft. Walking back to my car, I noticed this cute spot, Portland Street Creperie and decided to check it out. So glad I did! I’ll definitely be back. The owner and his staff member of many years greeted me with a warm welcome and good suggestions. It was a bonus to discover Neil shares a love of Kraftwerk! I’m so jealous that he will be seeing them for the third time 🤦‍♀️. Oh, and the crepes - fabulous! Definitely recommended!”

This place knows how to highlight fresh seafoods in their raw tapas without overpowering their delicate natural flavors, and their house cocktails all have a maritime flavor profile that pairs well with seafood regardless of your choice. The atmosphere is charming as they repurposed the old architecture really well, and it is a perfect date night spot. We will definitely come back to this place in the future!”

“Sticky cinnamon bun oh my god it was so good. The croissant texture combined with the perfect amount of time cinnamon. Who needs icing when this is absolute perfection already?!
The mocha latte was really enjoyable as well. No complaints here.”

“Some of the better food I have had in Halifax.!I was with someone whi has travelled the whole world and she thought it was outstanding. Top notch service, highly adaptable and friendly but professional. The halibut cheeks are extraordinary. Not all fine food is found in the boardwalk. I would say that i prefer this over some of the higher priced restaurants. Anthony Bourdain would have gushed over thus place I think.”

“Was there for a late lunch. Very spacious, clean and great atmosphere. Our server Emily was very friendly and enthusiastic. Ordered taquitos (excellent flavour and lots of filling. Then I had the chicken fajitas which were huge and very fresh tasting. Emily talked me into trying the Churro bites for dessert. They are stellar all around pleased with my experience. Thanks to the entire Canteen family - and I say FAMILY purposefully as you feel the family atmosphere as soon as you arrive - for hosting our team for dinner last week. We booked out the whole restaurant and they did just what we hoped for: Maritime hospitality, wonderful, genuine service and knock-your-socks off food. The team from across Canada went bananas over the Crobster sandwich. The special welcome from the owners was a lovely touch. The guests raved all the way back across the harbour on the ferry about the wonderful meal from start to finish. It’s a lovely space that is not pretentious and puts an emphasis on fantastic food and exemplary service, with a genuine smile. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“So good! I had the (already) gluten free crepe and fruits And the keto breakfast 10/10
The crepe was huge and full of fruit.
Blueberries, strawberries, bananas, pineapples, grapes, kiwis!!! Everyone at the table enjoyed their meal.
Cindy was an awesome server :)
Pricey but I definitely feel like we got our money’s worth! If I lived in the area I’d be a regular.
Potatoes are made in a shared fryer so I didn’t get to try those.”
