“We all arrived hungry to a shockingly full parking lot. As an ex-industry person I can say we got our table touched 20 times here which was nice, but actually as a diner maybe a bit too much especially if the table touches didn't result in the proper service. It was a dark and stormy spring Saturday night, we arrived at 630, a half hour early for our reservation but were seated promptly. It took zero minutes for who appeared to be the bartender to ask us for our drink orders, while she remembered the wine and bourbon orders she forgot my hot tea even after we had a whole conversation about it. When our actual waitress arrived I had to reorder the tea and the timing on the warm up had about already passed. That being said I often order hot tea before dinner and it was pretty awesome that the hot water came in a separate metal mini kettle along with the tiniest tea cup in North America. It reminded me of Europe actually the tea cup was sooo small, maybe 4oz but the kettle had another 24oz of super hot water for me which kept me very happy throughout the meal.

I didn't get my honey with it though even though I ordered it twice with two people now. I was about to have to ask for the honey when the bartender ran it over before I could but then... no spoon. Not a spoon anywhere on the table actually, I gave up and used my fork for the night in the tea. When we were approached and my 80+yr old mother began to order our mains the waitress cut her off and left mid order bc she said the kitchen was calling her. Huge no-no as far as Im concerned, this alone looses them one star forget about the tea.

When she came back we were all happy to learn we all got salads and sides with our entrees, I ordered the schnitzel which was our entire impetus for the visit as I consider myself somewhat of a schnitzel connoisseur. My gf tried to sub mushrooms for her side but when it arrived the waitress had added it as an add'l side and gave her zucchini even though she didn't order it and I witnessed them having a conversation about it.

Our salads all came drowning in dressing with one rock hard tomato, at first I thought it was a full reddish, I love dressing but this was a lot even for me; the dressing was actually really good but strongly recommend ordering dressing on the side at this restaurant. I also got the rice which was very good. The schnitzel came in two pieces with more salad, kind of, just arugula and tomatoes not mentioned on the menu now no dressing haha.

Definitely one of the greasiest schnitzels I've had in all my days which was even more noticeable after I gobbled both of them down with a pool of oil left over on my plate. After being served our entrees we got 7 table touches from various people within 5 minutes. This was a lot, too much as we were finally all just wanting to eat. I didn't ever mention the late tea, missing spoon or drowning salad.

Overall everyone was lovely, the restaurant was nice and (dad had no complaints so) we were happy with our overall experience even though they seemed to be having a giant other party in the other room the whole time; unfortunately I just can't give them 5 stars“

“We drove from fishkill after my mom’s chemo treatment in pok … we haven’t been here in a while because it is a drive but we were in pok and we were in the mood for different. We were very happy with the food everything was great we just weren’t happy with the service, we had to ask multiple times for Splenda, the waitress spilled the milk and I used my napkins, she never gave us extra (she had them in her apron) I had to call her over for some then she was taking the finished plates and dropped the butter knife on my mothers foot and never apologized and seen it fall and looked under the table . not sure if the waitress was a bit off her game but we decided to enjoy the food.“

Whether eating in the Cafe or getting take-out we're always happy with the service from the staff. My wife needs gluten free options and this is our favorite place in the area to reliably have great options.

My personal favs are an omelet with spinich, tomato, and feta cheese for breakfast or the fresh caprese sandwich (sometimes I add a burger patty) for lunch/dinner. And the homefries are AMAZING.“

“Me and my wife are breakfast enthusiasts. Whether it is a new Diner or a new restaurant we are always looking for a new breakfast spot. We came here after my wife had a minor dental procedure. There was a little wait but we didn't mind it was like 5 minutes. When we were seated we were greeted by our waitress, Jennifer. She was awesome all morning. Very vibrant personality with great energy. She explained menu items made my wife a special Coffee and made our experience that much better. The food was outstanding. My wife had scrambled eggs with French toast because she could not eat anything super hard and she has been talking about those eggs days after we left. I got an omelette with pancakes and they were very good. The price to food ratio was outstanding. We are looking forward to coming back. We recently moved to the area and sometimes go to a diner or cracker barrel but it think this will be our new go to for breakfast and once we try the lunch or dinner it will be our go to for that as well. “I've been to Dutchess Diner on multiple occasions - all for professional-related networking or rewards during my time at local businesses and we always found it to be a very great and welcoming place to go.

The service is consistently great, food is what you would expect and you will likely come away with multiple meals.

Keep in mind this is a standard all-american eats diner (do forget if they have international cuisine options so someone please correct me), but it is typically a good balance between taste and price.“

Mark and Tracey were wonderful in helping us prepare and set everything up, and they made a typically stressful experience as easy as possible. “We visited on a Friday afternoon in late June 2025. There were plenty of parking spaces in the parking lot when we arrived. There were a few that were shaded by trees but they were all taken.

The restaurant is located near the bathrooms around the corner from the information desk when you first enter. Just go in and head towards the right hallway.

We didn't actually eat here but I stepped in quick to check it out while everyone was going to the restroom.

There were a number of tables and bench seating and it looked like there was outside seating as well under a large pavilion roof. It looked like there was enough space to move in between the tables nicely with a wheelchair or stroller.

The food prices are higher than you expect but normal for a museum cafeteria like this at a tourist attraction. It looked like they had food options for picky eaters as well. Large selection of premade sandwiches and salads so you can just grab and go if you're in a hurry. The food did look fresh and not like it had been sitting there for days.

Overall the visitor center was a great place to visit. There was so much more we could've done here and explored but we were short on time. I think if we were ever in the area again we would visit and I wouldn't' hesitate to grab some food here either.“

Quality varies a lot depending on who's cooking, but there are some things that are very consistent.Most things can be ordered using the meal plans pick 3 option (for those who don't know that's using a meal swipe for one main item, a drink, and a side).Wait time will be different depending on what you order. Usually burgers are very fast, pizza takes a bit longer, and Rossie's or noodles takes the longest (during busy times over 30 minutes).Speaking of Rossie's, if you've had the real deal than don't bother getting it here. This is still Sodexo making it, they just have access to the same ingredients and recipes. Also they're missing roast beef so you can't get the best thing Rossie's has anyways.Very strong vegetarian options if you don't mind eating the same thing a lot. The tofu for the noodles isn't anything to write home about and sometimes you'll need to break it up and let it warm up in the broth for a bit, but it's still pretty dang good.Top choices would be:1. Noodles, or oodles as they call it for some unknown reason.2. Pizza. Just make sure one of the good people is there to make it.3. Burger, they're not great but you'll get the same thing every time4. Rossie's. It's still pretty good, just not close to the real thing.“

“The shrimp Rasta pasta is really so good also the Mac and cheese .. But I can’t say the same abt the oxtail plate I got with rice and peas and yams …. Expensive dish to only get 4 small oxtails .. the yams was flavorless the best thing was rice peas even tho it coulda some more gravy. But I’m willing to always give another chance“

The staff is consistently friendly and welcoming, and the food always comes out quickly—which is a huge plus. We’ve eaten here multiple times and have never once been disappointed. “I went on 10/22/2024 to the location on Albany Street in Poughkeepsie N.Y. Today is my mom Birthday we had a party of seven. When we arrived we were told they don't have big table for our size party. They managed to add a table. The food was a 1.5 Everyone fries were over cooked the chicken was dry not a bit of Honey was tasted on the sandwiches. Tap water warm little to barely no ice. It took over 30 minutes to receive our meals no bread sticks salad nothing offered while we waited. It was a HORRIBLE DINNER. We asked if they have any Bday specials were told No. Do you sing Happy Birthday No. Mind you we were told by the person that recommended the place said they do sing Happy Birthday. I'm starting to feel it was a racial situation. Yet we still left tips. The Family had to go find Food upon leaving. The server was great it was her second day. I wish her well“

“What started off as a sad and somber day with the funeral for my grandmother ended with a very high note: after the visiting hours we gathered at Cappola's Restaurant in Hyde Park. This is a spot my family has been going to for generations. Well, when I was a kid I got dragged to some family function 20 years ago that I was very bored at. I wound up scraping plates and working in the kitchen that day (I was about 9 or 10 years old at the time.) I latched onto John Cappola's arm and was given a full tour of the restaurant, $5 cash for helping out, and a life experience that I will never forget! John and I took some pictures that day, I asked him to autograph a menu for me, and I decided I wanted to go into the restaurant business. He talked me out of it, which I was quite glad he did because I wound up going into coins and antiques a few years later. John, you showed me that day the value of hard work, the concept of what the American dream is all about, and how to hustle in business. Interestingly enough, John said he wondered what had happened to me just a couple of days prior to today! John's family started this legendary restaurant on Main Street in Poughkeepsie back in 1961. They subsequently went to open the restaurant in Hyde Park where he and his brothers still run it today. "Cappola's: a Hudson Valley Tradition Since 1961!" “This is my favorite takeout/delivery restaurant here in Hopewell and ratings are based on that. The quality has improved over the past 10 years and everything we have ordered was satisfactory. The pizza is NY style and is REALLY good for the price. Delivery is quick, courteous, and never made a mistake. I wouldn't consider a different pizza shop if I can get Frattelos.“
