“10/10! Super friendly staff and everything was delicious. I went in anticipating oxtails but they were out, so I opted for jerk chicken, Mac and cheese and rice and peas. Literally the most flavorful rice and peas I’ve ever had! Mac was tasty and well seasoned and the jerk chicken was the perfect blend of tang and spice. I looked forward to having leftovers but ate the entire plate in one sitting. Will definitely be back :))“

“95 south is definitely a spot for vibes AND good food. My husband and I each had a half rack of ribs and it was a huge portion. The food was all very great quality and the bbq was actually finger lickin’ good as we say in the south. I’ve tried all the hipster bbq spots (Morgan’s, Pig Beach, Dinosaur, etc.) none of them were as good as this, like not even comparable.

The music was a little too loud for a Monday night and service was kinda slow but it is somewhere we would come back to for sure.“

“I finally made it to Katie O’s Soul Food, and everything I ordered was amazing. I had two pieces of fried catfish — crispy, seasoned perfectly, and fried just right.

My sides were all full of flavor and tasted homemade. My plate had:
• Fried catfish
• Candied yams
• Collard greens
• Mac & cheese
• Potato salad
• Cornbread

For dessert, I had their banana pudding, and it was absolutely delicious. I washed everything down with a strawberry lemonade that was refreshing and sweet.

When I say I came home, made my plate, ate, took a shower, and went straight to sleep? That’s how you know the food was GOOD — seasoned to perfection, fresh, and made with love.

To make the experience even sweeter, I later found out the owner is actually my good friend’s niece. The hospitality and courtesy were on point from the moment I walked in.

This place is exactly what the name implies a small, Black-owned Mom & Pop Shop operation.

So don’t expect bells and whistles, but definitely expect good food and good people.

Admittedly, I have slept on this place for years, passing it up for more bedazzled restaurants amongst the BedStuy thoroughfare, but I have most assuredly been missing out.

The menu is Southern and homemade. If you really want food that tastes like home, this is the place.

The fish is fried to perfection and admittedly that’s my favorite thing here. Although the fried pork chops are the business as well. And the turnaround time for ordering is pretty quick. So it’s not a long wait for food you may be feenin for. (Like me!)

The service is fast and in all honesty the breakfast reminds of me how my mom and aunts from VA cook. With love and care.
Like they are happy you are here or there and just want you to sit down and eat while they look at you enjoy the food.

I have to try more things on the menu, but I am absolutely STUCK on their all day breakfast menu!

Other places in the neighborhood and around BK may be cute and fancy-ish and have more amenities, but this 19 year old, family run, Black-owned, Bedstuy staple is very much worth the trip, the reasonable pricing and the community love and support it deserves.

“As soon you walk in you're greeted and asked if it's your 1st time. All to be given a sampler of greens, yams, wing and Mac and cheese. The crunch and flavor on the wing was everything. “I ordered through Uber Eats however, I had to leave a review because the food was so good & I don’t understand all the bad reviews. I haven’t experienced the service but the food was delicious. I got fried chicken, Mac and cheese, and yams. I’m convinced many people haven’t had real soul food (this is real southern food not the fake stuff u see so often in NY/Brooklyn). Everything was soo good. Add corn bread into the mix and it would be a 10/10. Excited to try it again soon!“
