“An amazing omakase dining experience at Shota. Premium ingredients and amazing taste. Each and every course was finely prepared and beautifully presented. Service was top notch throughout. Sake list was also impressive with massive selections of both common and rare sakes. Some rare ones were priced pretty steep.
This restaurant is a treasure on South Street in Brooklyn. Definitely recommended!“

“My husband and I came here on a whim, and while the food was good—we ordered the sushi—I think we’d try the regular noodles next time. What truly made this place stand out, though, was the service. Jack was fantastic—so personable, kind, funny, and attentive. He checked in at all the right moments and made the whole experience feel special. Honestly, I’d hire him to work with us if I could! We will definitely be back.“

“Great for dates and just having a good conversation with a friend. I got the unlimited drinks, and it's really made the dinner. After a while, the season rice can make everything taste the same.
However it's price well for the food and service. In all, I had a great time.“

“Fantastic speakeasy sushi joint. Very small, no more than an handful of people may join the omasake style bar where 3 talented (and cool) chefs serve you the best crafted sushi you can get. Definitely going back soon.“

“Wonderful hand rolls. My wife and I stopped by for an impromptu date night and had a lovely time. All of our bites were delicious and the service was warm and friendly. We had just returned from Japan and we were not disappointed. We loved the crispy rice and all of the hand rolls we ordered.“

“I recently visited Sushi Lin with a friend for their omakase experience, and we were both very impressed. The sushi was fresh, beautifully prepared, and the portions were surprisingly generous. For the quality of food and overall experience, the pricing felt very reasonable.
The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the sushi chef was professional, friendly, and clearly passionate about his craft. The restaurant’s interior is also well-designed, creating a comfortable and enjoyable dining environment.
What surprised me most is that Sushi Lin doesn’t seem to get as much attention on Yelp as it deserves. It’s one of those places that quietly delivers a great dining experience without a lot of hype. If you’re looking for quality omakase at a fair price, I highly recommend giving Sushi Lin a try.
A true hidden gem in Brooklyn. Great value, great sushi, and great hospitality. This was a wonderful experience from start to finish, and I would definitely come back again.“

“I have been to all three Daigo locations (City Point, 4th Ave, and this one) and they all are great with their consistent level of preparation and quality fish. This one is nice because it is the most “sit down” of the three, most of the seats are at the bar! Ha! Just like the standing-only location at Dekalb Market Hall (in City Point), you get served one hand roll at a time to ensure your rice is warm. I’ve only been here with as a party of three max so I don’t know for sure if you’d get one hand roll at a time if you can as a bigger party. Not pictured is the ebi handroll with a generous amount of raw baby sweet shrimp that is bursting with flavor. What I like about Daigos is that you can stop in for a delicious handrolls in a quick and casual setting.“

“In past decade plus, in the prior establishments- Thai, Asian fusion/Japanese - the food was horrible and portions were small, especially for takeout (think shrinkflation re: Ubereats/Doordash). We'd try every year or two but were disappointed each time. This new place, Look Deer, opened up the last couple years and we finally gave it a chance this earlier in January. It is run very well. Their sashimi is very fresh and even better, their hot appetizers and entrees - tonkatsu ramen, hamachi kama, fried oysters, salmon skin, just to name a few - are excellent especially when compared to similar small counter-style takeout sushi joints by U (ex. Sushi Bistro, Happy Canteen). Haven't tried a lot of their rolls - which are very good - since we've been testing out their hot entrees. The mackerel is unique and moist. Their takoyaki octupus balls, with fish flakes, are crispy outside and hot and juicy inside, which is how they should be versus likely frozen/precooked & reheated by others (ex. Vivi's Bubble Tea). We also love their sushi for 2, which can be pricey but amazing for a special occasion or treat since it has premium ingredients like sweet shrimp, umi and others (think toro or higher grade tuna). My wife and I now bounce between Look Deer and our regular sushi places (Nagoya, Mitoushi), which are much larger and provide a more intimate setting, including for private conversations. Look Deer is very cozy although cramped but their premium quality and wide selection more than makes up for it. Look, dear, let's try this place out again soon. =)“

“Miro Sushi 1 year review! I’ve come here on a near weekly basis for a year. they are the best sushi in brooklyn and rank amongst the best in all of NYC. Consistent, fresh, affordable, and good portions. I’ve probably eaten here well over 50 times and the sushi never misses. hospitality alone is a 10/10 easily the best hospitality of any restaurant I’ve been to since day 1. restaurant is owned and run by a small family, husband, wife, sister and children. the main sushi chef used to work in high end omakase as far as I can make out and he’s very very refined when it comes to presentation and it’s reflected in some of the most consistent and best sushi you’d ever have. these guys came and redefined sushi quality and sushi pricing for the area of bay ridge. fish quality is on par with nobu without the price tag. miso soup is hands down the best miso soup you’d have and can’t be skipped. they also have the best onigiri (rice balls) for like $4.50 a pop which is huge. it is a secret menu item (the only one as far as I know lol). they also have very tasty pudding. that mini sashimi bowl with uni and caviar is easily top 3 things i’ve ever eaten in my life, it just melted in my mouth and came together into a flavor that words can’t describe.
overall I highly recommend this place for a sushi craving, a date, a family hangout. if sit by window you get a nice view of the brooklyn bridge. the inside is very well decorated and changes seasonally. you really can’t go wrong with miro. I literally crawled there in the middle of the winter storm to grab some miso soup and sushi, it’s that good.“

The food is very authentic, and the drinks are very well crafted. Food and drinks tastes as good as it looks!. The staff's service were beyond expectations... Yangi, she was so attentive! I dropped my chopsticks, didn't expect anyone to notice but, she rush to give me a new set within a second. If you're looking for a good atmosphere, authentic vietnamese fresh food, and great service, definitely check this place out. You won't be disappointed.“

“WOW! My friend and I went today and had such a great experience! The staff were so friendly and kind, constantly checking in and chatting with us. “I don't typically often order from silver rice because they're bit small in the portion side, they have unconventional food packaging containers and they're on the pricey side. However when it comes to the quality of the food they're worth it. I just had to Nagi rice cup and a seaweed salad I literally can't stop licking my chopsticks. It was so GOOD!. Even got better as you dug into the cup lol If you're looking for something different and on the lighter side that was just at the spot. So rice is a good option.“
“Had no idea that this place was a self serve sushi place!
Perfect for a quick bite and not too expensive.
Pretty neat that you can grab one each of everything.
The taro boba drink was also tasty!“

“Sushi was very very fresh, taste and presentation was 10/10. Our new go to spot! I just ate ALOT and I'm thinking about it and how I could eat more, that’s how good it is! I cant wait to order from here again, best best sushi I’ve had in a very long time and Ive tried sooo many spots in Brooklyn, this place is 10/10, 100% recommend!!“

“I had such a great experience at Ginza Sushi today, and I honestly can’t stop thinking about it. My boyfriend and I decided to go on a casual date, and it turned into one of those meals that just hits perfectly in every way—food, service, atmosphere, everything.
We ended up ordering five different rolls, and I’m so glad we did because it gave us a chance to try a variety—and every single one was honestly amazing. The sushi tasted incredibly fresh, which is the most important thing for me.
Each roll had its own unique flavor, and none of them felt repetitive or boring. The rice was seasoned just right—not too sweet, not too sticky—and it held together perfectly without falling apart when picked up. The portions were also really satisfying. Sometimes sushi spots give tiny rolls that leave you still hungry, but here it felt like we got a good amount for what we ordered.
Another thing that really stood out was how fast the food came out. We barely had to wait, which made the whole experience even better. It’s such a plus when you’re hungry and don’t have to sit around forever. Even though the service was quick, it didn’t feel rushed—they still took care in how everything was presented.
Speaking of service, it was genuinely so good. The staff were attentive without being overbearing. They checked in at the right times, made sure we had everything we needed, and were just overall friendly and polite. It made the whole meal feel smooth and stress-free.
What I also appreciated was how clean everything was—from the tables to the presentation of the food. It just adds to that feeling of trust when you’re eating sushi, especially.
Overall, this place is definitely a great choice whether you’re going on a date, hanging out with friends, or just craving good sushi. Between the freshness of the food, the fast service, and the comfortable atmosphere, it really stands out as a spot I would 100% come back to.
If you’re thinking about trying Ginza Sushi, I would absolutely recommend it. Today’s experience was easily a 10/10 for me, and it’s now one of my go-to sushi spots. 🍣“

“If you want value and convenience for your sushi fix, J San Sushi is your place: Affordable prices and many options. They updated their price a wee bit lately and added 3 new party tray options. I usually get party trays, but have gotten their lunch deals as well. My to-go are salmon avocado rolls, eel avocado. Their tuna isn't good so I avoid them if I could.
You're not here for high quality; you pay for what you get.“

“I went there with six people.
It’s located in a trendy part of Brooklyn, and the restaurant has a really nice atmosphere. The staff who served our table were also very friendly.
As for the food, I was interested in okonomi fried potato and eringi karaage, but they weren’t anything special—just generally tasty. The garlic shrimp was probably the best dish, and the sushi rolls we ordered were also just average. I wasn’t particularly impressed with the desserts.
Since it’s in a trendy area, the prices aren’t exactly inexpensive.
Given the pleasant atmosphere, interior, and friendly staff, I think it’s a good spot for a casual date to enjoy a few drinks.“

“It is hard to find good good sushi sometimes in NYC and especially in Brooklyn Heights. I came in hopeful, but not expecting too much. The sushi exceeded my expectations with the freshness and quality of the fish. The only thing that was a little disappointing was the miso soup, which was a bit lacking in miso flavor. I will definitely come back for the omakase.“

“I came here a friend and had 2 rolls (salmon and tuna), one sea urchin, and one wagyu single piece. All the food was incredible. Some of the best sushi I've had in my life. My friend had 2 vegetarian rolls, which both were delicious. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that enjoys higher quality sushi, especially at lunch since they have some discounted rolls.“
