“We came here for dinner and we loved the food! I ordered the DAC BIET 55/PP because I wanted the lemongrass beef skewers with a bunch of small dishes; loved the flavors and presentation. My friend had the chicken pho and the broth was so good.
The location is super easy to get to, just a 2 min walk from the Morgan stop and a minute walk to Moondog HiFi.
The only thing I want to address is the noise level is unbearable. This is an ongoing issue for NYC restaurants and no one seems to care.
Restaurant owners, please take that into consideration when you design your next restaurant.“

“I love this place, it’s my top 3 Viet restaurant in NYC. The flavor is very authentic to Vietnamese growing up in the south like me.
With my recent visit, I have a few critiques:
- Oc len xao dua: it was mussels and not snails. I know you guys noted that down in the menu but I still feel bothered by it. Also the mussels doesnt really go well with the coconut sauce. I think you guys should remove that dish from the menu (you guys have better dishes on the menu!)
- Pho ga: the pho itself is on the sweeter side, which is not my preference. The lemon/green sauce was very sweet and tastes weird. We even asked the waitress to confirm if it's supposed to taste sweet like that and she said yes. I think you guys can do better with the sauce, or just do without it. Ems in 86 did the Pho Ga really well tho.
The rest of the food was really good, especially the Bo Luc Lac and Lemongrass clams. I didn't get the Bo Kho this time but definitely highly recommend!“

“Thanh Đa is a popular hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese spot for banh mi near 8 Av, Brooklyn. I read many negative reviews about the terrible attitude of the owner, skimpy toppings and how their prices have risen significantly. God knows how nervous I was when I walked into the shop lol.
Fortunately I didn’t have such poor experience when I went. I was very satisfied with what I got, and the owner and staff weren’t rude at all. Just keep in mind they no longer open dine-in area.
#1 House Special Banh Mi 清娜麵包
For the house special banh mi, they put together roasted pork, ham, cold cut, pickled carrots and radish and cucumber. The fillings weren’t overflowing, but it was sufficient and stuffed till the bottom of the bread roll. The baguette was toasted to a crusty finish on the outside, and a soft dough on the inside.
You can ask for jalapeno for extra spice (they forgot to add it to my banh mi tho). $8 for a banh mi is still reasonable to me in this economy, as I can split it into two meals.
Banh mi is made to order. It took around 10 mins even I was the only customer in store.
*Ca Phe Thanh Ða (Thanh Ða Coffee) 清娜咖啡
This Vietnamese coffee was so pleasant. Dark roasted and rich in caffeine as you can taste from the robust and bold flavor. I asked for less sugar and less ice, and it had the perfect level of sweetness. $5 for the iced coffee is slightly steep but I’ll still get this again.“

“Amazing food and hidden gem near Brooklyn's Chinatown. You just try their egg and shrimp with the chili sauce. (I'm not sure what the real name of this dish is.) Most of the foods are out on display so that you can just grab them and pay. The seating area is pretty cramped.“

“The best banh mi I've had in NYC. Get the classic banh mi with Sriracha and jalapenos. The bread is fresh, isn't going to scrape the roof of your mouth, and doesn't require you to tear it and risk the filling falling out. The pickled veggies are plentiful and tasty. The egg coffee is also delicious. The staff is also very kind and friendly.“

“Recently opened, amazing pho, great atmosphere and even better service. Our waitress Erika was kind and efficient, she was able to provide great service to us. While there was great service there was also great food. From the pho to the thai tea it was fantastic. The cosy atmosphere only added to this experience. I would definitely recommend coming to this spot as it’s a great place to enjoy a meal with your friends.“

“Bahn Mi is the best in the area. The bread is way better than 5ive Spice nearby. The shrimp spring roll was missing carrots and cucumbers, it was just noodles, greens, and shrimp. Left a lot to be desired, but the namesake item was very good and worth your time for sure. Definitely would recommend.“

“I've been coming here for years, because I've always loved the sandwiches. When I first came, I was a vegetarian, and the vegetarian options in particular are fantastic: there are so many fillings! Today was the first day I had the pho and it was DELICIOUS. If you are vegetarian, though, don't get it. The broth is always made with meat. If I was flexitarian, I would absolutely order the tofu pho, because that collagen-rich, clear broth is delicious.“

“I got the beef pho during lunch. The pho bowl was a very good deal for the amount of beef and noodles you get. The broth was very rich and not overpowering. The tea was also good and the atmosphere was nice, having modern pop music in the background.“

“Walked in off the street after a workout, and ordered a Vietnamese iced coffee and BBQ pork banh mi. Both were excellent, service was friendly, and I’ll definitely be back for their spicy lover banh mi! The pricing is what it should be, not like these other gentrified spots serving $20 inauthentic sandwiches.“

“4/5 Pho Tai Nam -- flavorful broth, very generous amount of beef eye round and brisket, noodles were on the thinner end
4.5/5 Spring Rolls -- one of the better ones I've had in recently memory for sure! Fried super crisp, great with the lettuce wrap and fish sauce“

“Went on a Saturday during lunch hours and was able to get this awesome Chirashi lunch special bowl for only $18. Looks amazing and went great with the high quality soy sauce that they provide!! Also ordered the mama pho bowl and everything was great! The broth was flavorful and didn't need any additions, except for some siracha for extra spicy flavor.
Atmosphere:The garden area in the back of the restaurant had a calming atmosphere with plants all around and plenty of natural lighting to make it feel as if you were in an outdoor garden!
Service: The service is quick and easy due to buttons on every table that you can push, alerting the server, making the experience much faster than waiting for a server to pass by and getting their attention.“

“I ordered takeout outside of lunch/dinner hours - can't comment on the atmosphere but the food was ready quickly. I ordered the portobello mushroom salad and the veggie chicken bánh mì. The salad was a hearty size and while a couple of bites were a bit on the spicy side despite ordering the mild option, overall the bánh mì was excellent. Seemed good value for the money, just hope in the future they can offer a veg phở option rather than the current beef broth varieties.
Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian options *other than* the phở. I think they just opened though so hopefully they'll offer a veg recipe at some point soon! Also like that they specified how to make something vegan and offered that customization.“

“This Banh Mi place is one of my favorites. I love their new braised beef sandwich. The bread is crispy, and the sandwich is fresh and hot with a good amount of meat. I also love the refreshing boba teas here. I tried many Banh Mi sandwich places before choosing this as my regular.“

“It is a small restaurant that focuses on take out. There are about 3 tables. Because it is mainly takeout, there are always many customers waiting in the store. The service is reasonably fast. Grilled chicken banh mi > fresh spring roll > rice noodles were delicious in that order.“

“As a big fan of Vietnamese cuisine, I found the flavors of the food we had to be inconsistent. The pho broth was too salty for my liking, and the fried calamari had an excessive amount of breading. However, the bo luc lac was delicious. The service was friendly!“

“I recently found myself downtown for an appointment and, with a couple of hours to spare, I was feeling pretty famished. As I wandered around, I stumbled upon Hanco's and decided to give it a try. I’m a big fan of noodles, but I’d never had Pho before, so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity. I ordered the Chicken Pho, and it did not disappoint—rich, flavorful, and comforting in every bite.
The service was also top-notch. The ladies in the front of the house were warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly, which added to the overall positive experience. I ended up with a generous amount of pho left over, and they kindly packed it up for me to take home.
Now, let’s be clear—this isn’t a Michelin-star restaurant or a place offering fine dining. It’s more of a cozy, mom-and-pop pho shop, but the flavors are truly outstanding. So much so, in fact, that I went home, pulled up a Vietnamese pho recipe, and tried to recreate the dish myself. Unfortunately, my attempt didn’t quite live up to Hanco’s (as expected!), but that just gives me another excuse to return and enjoy their pho again. Highly recommended!“

“the Banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich) is very good and their other things are also pretty good, I heard, but it is a long wait, usually about 10 minutes if not busy and 20 minutes when there is a few people there. Also there is no dine in since the place in extremely small. So you order, wait outside, get your food, and leave. but definitely worth the wait if you have the time“

“Pretty nifty place overall for bubble tea.
Food: bubble tea quality comparable to other bubble tea places. The coconut milk tea with mango jelly was delicious and refreshing.
Service: typical of a bubble tea spot—pay, wait, called to collect bubble tea.
Atmosphere: cozy spot. Looks nice.“

“I went there yesterday after a very bad day and Banhmigos food gave me a boost I really needed. Grilled pork banh mi was the best I had in NYC yet. Moist, veggies were plenty of sour, salty and sweet, crunchy bread and just the right amount of cilantro. The staff was friendly, pretty quick and very calm overall. I loved the atmosphere. As soon as all the orders were done they went ahead to chill and played card games!Highly recommend. I’ll be back to try some other things they have on the menu. The only minus is that there is no bathroom. I’m 5months pregnant, so it was quite tricky to find a toilet nearby.“

“This unassuming place has been super consistent over the years. My go to order is the grilled pork banh mi and it never disappoints. Bread is always crispy, fillings are flavorful and well balanced. They usually have it ready in under 10 mins. One of my neighborhood go-tos.“

“Just stopped in for a quick bite while in the area running some errands. Food just tastes like the average Vietnamese food you’d normally order. Although I won’t call it authentic unless it’s actually made by Vietnamese people, but that’s just a minor detail.“

“Good bahn mi shop. I recommend the pork or classic. I like to order a side of peanut butter sauce to dip. Good milk and Thai bubble tea. I try to order sides of spicy sauce but they don’t add it in. Spicy option isn’t spicy. Would love for them to kick up the heat. Wouldn’t recommend the shredded chicken sandwich. It’s just like steamed chicken with no marinade of flavor. Was hoping for lemongrass chicken.“

“I’m local and I come here so often. I’ve tried so many different Thai restaurants but this one is my favorite. Their food is soooooooo good. I’ve had their fried rice, almost all their appetizers like the spring rolls, kimchi fries, curry puff pastries, also beef and chicken pho, pad see ew and pad Thai. And the best thing ever? Their chicken Khao soi. Everything is a 10/10 and nothing better than to wash the food all down with a Thai iced tea.“

“Update: I came in the next day and the manager said he processed a refund and he gave me lunch on the house. Apparently a technical glitch allowed me to order when they are closed. I appreciate them making it right. I enjoyed the food, especially the tofu and vegetables with brown rice which was served promptly and piping hot. I wasn’t as impressed by the fries but many reviewers seem to enjoy them so maybe it’s a matter of taste.Original: Ordered for pickup. Walked over with wife and kids and the restaurant is closed and there’s a church service going on inside. No one answers the phone and there’s no instant refund like Seamless. Hopefully I get my money back tomorrow.
Vegetarian options: Tofu and vegetables was delicious“

“It was really cold today and I was second guessing whether I should go inside here and get some hot pho to warm myself up. But I’m so glad that I ended up going inside here! They take credit which is great because I didn’t have cash on me (not Amex though). The staff is super friendly and helpful here and it’s so peaceful and quiet inside the restaurant! I asked for the pho with beef brisket. The broth was so rich and the meat just melted in my mouth! The noodles were cooked perfectly too! It was the perfect pick-me-up after being in the cold for so long ? I’m definitely coming back here every month for a pho treat!“
