“wanted to check out a speakeasy while in town and came across the newsroom on tiktok, due to their “stuff your own empanada experience”. nestled in a quiet area of queens, with easy access.lovely speakeasy ambiance with an aerialist performer & live vocal performances. the music they play is all jazzy covers of hit songs, so it fits the vibe so well.the empanadas and the filet mignon taquitos, were so tasteful and delicious.they give you a very decent amount of time to be there, in order to make room for more people. our server Alberto couldn’t have been kinder and more accommodating to our preferences & needs while there.would recommend this to anyone looking for a laid back speakeasy outside of the hustle and bustle of the major city or times square.“

“Extremely delicious!! We got a large assortment of items. Top items are the beef salteña and the chicken sandwich. The beef salteña was better than the veggie, and the chicken sandwich was better than the chola. But everything was delicious. The rellenos were great as was the brisket artichoke mac n cheese. The peanut soup was very creamy. The rice pudding was also good.I am not very knowledgeable about Bolivian food but I'm a fan! Note there are only four outdoor dining tables.“

“Good vibe, the Tlalpeno Rojo soup is brilliant. The hot figs are a treat to share. Loco corn is also good. Chicken sandwiches are not their specialty. Delicious volcanic hot sauce. Neat weird variety of hot chocolates you can grab to go for a park stroll on a cold day.“

“Excellent food & service. Arrived after 9pm on a Friday night to a warmly lit, beautifully decorated restaurant with aromas that made us want to try everything on the menu. We had a party of 7 so we were seated in the backroom- not to be disappointed as it was equally as charming. Our service was perfect with most of the wait staff chipping in. We ordered an amazing Uruguaian red wine (2bottles because it was perfect) and decided on 4 appetizers- Provoleta, Croston con Morcilla, 2 Croston con Morcilla - all were delicious and none lasted long on the table. Our main courses included Churrasco (everyone's fav), Milanesa de Pollo and pasta of the day entries. All 7 of us really enjoyed our meals but all agreed the Churrasco as the best dish.Thank you, Tabare, for making our first night of our NYC visit a very memorable one !“

“Visited here three times now (both brunch and dinner) and had a lovely experience each and every time. Enjoyed good food in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.Had a different server each time but service was consistently attentive, kind, and efficient as possible. Noticed that it always seems to be one person working the front of the restaurant at a time so when it gets busy they really hustle.Wanted to try the homemade banana bread because of the good reviews but they didn’t have any. Betty recommended a dessert that resembled a plantain donut filled with a sweet bean paste and it was really yummy! It’s clear that the owners put a lot of love into the food and care about the community around them. Highly recommend.“

“Hello fellow restauranteur, this review is about to dive into the reasons I have to believe that Colonia Verde is a caliber above all else. Yes, that’s right. Bold statement alert: best restaurant in Brooklyn? I think yes. Slay-standing service, molecular energy, rustic atmosphere (vibe) inviting romance, all traits they have, yet aren’t what’s important here. What’s important is the perfectly thought out the menu, cohesive flavors and flawless execution from the chefs. Thank you for the premier experience. Rock On??“

“Fatima's is the best. I got the pernil, which I don't see on the "dishes I recommend" list, and that is a crime because this pernil was *amazing.* Also just plain old rice and beans, I don't know what they do to them but even the next day when they were cold they were still the best damn rice and beans I've ever had.“

“When I found out this family business is co-owned by a fellow Queens College Alum, I had to come!!! It's so inviting and the hostess (sister) was more than accommodating. We were seated quickly and we were able to see the menu both print and via QR Code. We (my husband and I) loved the drink we had as well as the Aji Galina and Arroz Chaufa con Pollo. Extra sauces and a small corn based appetizer was given right away as well. I also appreciated the clean bathroom, which has a urinal and normal toilet, also ADA/wheelchair friendly. The music was excellent too. The fact that this is also family friendly is the ultimate selling point. There's something on the menu for everyone. I will definitely come back with my in laws! This is the freshest, best Peruvian in NYS!!! I WISH YOU ALL THE SUCCESS AND DECADES IN BUSINESS!“

“The food is amazing. The Alcapurrias are great. You get meat with every bite. The pasteles are the best. This is the way everyone's grandmother makes it. The mofongo is probably one of the best I've had in NYC. Other restaurants, the mofongo is dry by the time you've eaten half of it. Not at The Freakin Rican. They even have their own hot sauce. Great place to eat if you're looking for authentic Puerto Rican food.“

“Brilliant. Perfect. I had no idea there was a Tabaré closer to my house than the one in Williamsburg. Love love love the place, the staff and the food obviously. Everything we ordered was delicious (Uruguayan sausage, Chicken Liver pate, Beet salad, Shrimps, Churrasco). I don’t think that we were done eating when we tried to figure out when we could come back next. Also, really fair prices. Just great :)“

“The food was stellar and the ambiance (including the band) was amazing. The hard stop for us was the service. Our server didn't know how to consolidate tables, and and barely checked on us. The wait for cocktails was around 25 min for one drink. Unacceptable, given our server stood around talking to friends/coworkers, and the person who appeared to be the manager was walking around on his phone a lot. I would go back for the food and the vibe, but the service isn't it.“

“Dropped in here a few weeks ago for some drinks and catching up with my friend that lives nearby. I think I had passed this a bunch of times in my adventures of going to Jackson Heights but never checked it out. One perk automatically, there's a check in special of a complimentary glass of Sangria! I haven't seen a check-in special in you don't know how long. It was really exciting. I went with the red sangria and then later ordered their take on a smoked old fashioned. Both were very potent and delicious. The aroma of the old fashioned was amazing. We also ended up getting a flan desert. Now this is going to sound ridiculous but I normally hate flan and this was really delicious. It had a texture that wasn't too jiggly and just creamy surrounded with beautiful strawberries and layered with caramel. It was almost more like a custard and I'll take custardy flan over jello flan every day. Their menu and brunch menu sounds delicious and would definitely think about coming back to try more.“

“Small, cozy atmosphere with yummy food and drinks. Guacamole was fresh, chips crisp. Chuleta al pastor amazing with its pineapple jam, moro and shaved brussel sprouts salad. The corn was yummy. I expected the maple maduros to be sweeter because of the maple but they were regular maduros which was still perfectly fine. Tamarind margarita and mezcal drink were perfect. I will definitely recommend and be back.“

“The whole restaurant was awesome; my only dislike was my friend and I were there for the whole brunch experience. We got there at 3:45 and were only able to get appetizers because our waiter never notified us that the kitchen closed. Therefore we never got the main meal, the unlimited Sangria or the dessert. We enjoyed the vibe and ended staying to order dinner that began at 6:00. Only to get burgers; because we really had our hearts set on the brunch.“

“I love it. The portions are large. I was BEYOND satisfied with the amount of food I received. I got the spring rolls, el patacon and the Yuri Fries I believe it was called. “Came by for an early dinner on a Saturday night. This place is a little outside the busy main Astoria area. The outside looks very minimalistic you wouldn't know it's Peruvian just passing by. From the drinks to the entree, everything was tasty and portioned well although slightly on the pricier side. One cocktail, fruit drink, arepa small dish, ceviche mixto, and entree came out to $100 after tip.“

“To begin with... it fills me with joy to have a Uruguayan Bakery near where I live, nothing better than having things that make you remember your beloved homeland. We come very often to eat here and buy takeaway. The cakes that I order are delicious, everyone is super satisfied and happy with the quality. The cream on the outside is always super sweet, but these cakes don't make you sick and make you want to continue eating more! Congratulations to the pastry chef who is a genius! Everything else we have bought is always fresh. The crumb sandwiches that you always worry are not going to be fresh, well here they are always delicious and fresh. Spectacular attention as always! Many thanks for everything!“

“First time going here and I fell in love with this place. Sunday at 9pm my husband and I wanted a late night snack and drinks around the neighborhood. The food, drinks, service, and live music was perfect. We only ordered appetizers: Pastelitos of chicken and mozzarella, Croquetas de pescado , Tostones iberico, and Datiles. Our favorite for sure were the Croquetas and Datiles. I never tasted something so good as the Datiles, which are dates stuffed with blue cheese and wrapped in bacon. It was a tasting experience of sweet and savory. I would definitely come back just for those lol. Also, we had the drink "Un Sandy", it doesn't have sugar, perfect to taste the lime and mint. Oh, and the bread & oil they give in the beginning is divineeee! Our experience here was awesome. Thank you so much.“

“This place is definitely serving the community with delicious food at low prices! The pork chop over rice and fried chicken/baked chicken over rice were $8 each! “Went here for midday brunch having seen their "Jennifer breakfast" in the menu the day before, and was very well fed! Got the Jennifer dream breakfast which was perfect! Bacon right between chewy and crunchy, eggs just right, and a well topped 2 pancakes! While the waitstaff there, she did not speak full English, she did find another way for me to ask my question via a phone translator (about the pancakes). The mimosa was strong too, especially considering the cherry on top! My gripe: music was too loud. Solution? Earbuds! I'd be happy to go again with more people!“

“Stumbled upon this hidden gem by chance. Immediately get greeted by friendly faces. Waiters are very attentive. Ambiance is fun and food is delicious. We wanted to try everything on the menu but settle for the loaded fries app, Fiesta chicken and a burrito as entrees. The drinks are yummy and well made. I even got a specialty Mule that wasn’t even on the menu. All I did was ask get strawberry flavor and boy did they deliver. The owner came over to greet us and walk us around to check the place out. Will definitely be coming back.“

“Came here last night for some drinks and dinner, was super pleased with the experience. We got there a little early, so the place wasn't packed. The drinks were delicious! Definitely hit the spot. The Mr Dre burger was huge and delicious. The chimi was on point and really large for only $6. The only complaint is that the chicken teriyaki was a bit on the saltier side. Aside from drinks and food they also have hookah and a DJ so the place is definitely popping on a Saturday night. Worth the visit!“
