“This place is a hidden gem. The prices can’t be beat, period. $6 pizza on Wednesdays and it’s GOOD! $6 subs on Thursday?! Where else can you find that? Drinks are MORE than reasonable all day everyday and the weekend specials are unheard of. Large and 20 for under $30. Only gripe is the manager, but he’s rarely around. The bar staff is wonderful!“

“I feel compelled to write this review because I've had Chinese
food before but never at this place until yesterday. Hands down the best General Tso's chicken I've ever had ! Most other places give you mostly coating where this had lots of real chicken and was cooked to perfection. The shrimp fried rice had bigger shrimp in it than most places and a lot of it and was very, very good. Also I must comment on the Wonton soup... very flavorful and fresh ... not just 2 wontons in some luke warm chicken broth but 3 big wontons in some real chicken stock with what looked like scallions and some strips of pork too. I'm sure whatever you order from this place will be outstandingly good.“

“We usually visit here, as we live out of town now. Hot and sour soup was disappointing though ( I think they changed their recipe). Service is always excellent. Atmosphere is No Frills however they do use tablecloths which is a nice touch. A little pricey.“

“There's no better Chinese food take-out in Western NY. Great quality and quantity. Best prices. Always served hot and it's double packaged to keep it hot until you get home. We love the Sesame chicken and fantastic boneless spare ribs. We go once or twice a month. Food is always hot and ready before the promised wait period. Never had to wait more than 15 minutes from the time you call or order at the counter. Genuine supreme Chinese cooking.... Fast and hot!“

Pro:
1. It is very cheap, I mean averagely you only spend $20 or even less for one dish. And good portion.
2. It is a classic Chinese flavor, not too spicy, not overly sweet. Just good.
Cons:
1. It is quite small. You may need to wait long if you come at rush hour.
2. Not many choices, I order like 15 dishes one time and that's basically everything they have

Cheap, good taste, and really warm service. I have to say I don't usually pay extra tips. But this is an exception. I hope they have good business.“

“I made reservations which I received a email confirmation when I arrive there the person working up front rudely cut me off and stated “we do not have reservations” might you when I made reservations for my Niece which just Graduated from College this is where I wanted to take her to eat. So I drove 10hrs from SC and when I filled out my reservations I did fill out the special occasion with the description celebrating this event. “China Taste is one of our favorite places to go in Amherst. There are two dishes that we get consistently. The first is their stir fried cabbage in chili oil. The cabbage has great umami flavor while maintaining its crispiness. The second dish we almost always get is their mapo tofu. We order it extra hot because that's how we like it but be mindful that it is really spicy. The tofu has great texture and the flavor is well balanced. The blend of fermented black beans and chili paste is wonderful and the spiciness comes more from the chilis than the Sichuan peppercorns. If you're looking more for an authentic experience, this is absolutely the place to go. Service is always friendly and welcoming too.“

“The food was very good and came out very hot (the way I like it!) I would def recommend trying anything on the menu esp if you never had a dip sum experience before. We had the crab dumplings, bbq pork bun, chicken fried rice, vege dumplings, pork dumplings. However the service was a bit lacking and there was no ice for drinks. We got there at 1pm and were probably finished eating at around 3pm. But it took forever to get someone to take our order and then no one ever checked on us or came to cash us out. We had to get up to the register and ask for our bill.“

They use Styrofoam "clamshell" containers, which I'm not a fan of (the old foldout boxes are better), but the portions are generous and they tend to be ready faster than they tell you (I only ever buy 1 or 2 dishes, they always say "5 minutes" and it's already done when I'm counting the last of minute 4). Staff are efficient and not discourteous. And the location is pretty convenient for the east side of Buffalo. Parking hasn't been an issue yet.“
