“Visited from Orlando,Florida and was in the mood for some Guyanese homemade food for brunch. We ate here and they had a wide variety of food options from doubles, cook up, bake and salt fish and various curries paired with The best tasting roti I have had in a long time. We ended it all off with some very tasty Pastries that are homemade in store. The owner Serita is very hospitable and made sure we had everything and that we were well taken care of! “My fiance got us dinner today & I must say it taste very great. We have been looking for a good Jamaican restaurant for some time now. Every cook has slight dif flavor and you can always taste the dif in food. The food was healthy & the overall service provided was very respectful. We also felt full and great after our meal! “If I hadn’t peeked over the counter, I might never have realized this was a Jamaican restaurant. Aside from a few small Jamaican flags—which I didn’t immediately spot—the predominantly red signage doesn’t clearly reflect the Jamaican cuisine they offer.

That said, I thoroughly enjoyed my “small” portion of curry chicken with rice and peas, which many other places would probably consider medium-sized. Priced reasonably at $14.39, including a bottle of water, it was great value. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and cooked, while the rice and peas were expertly prepared, with just the right touch of coconut to bring out the traditional flavors.

The server, Alicia, was both polite and engaging, adding to the overall welcoming atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in the area.

My only suggestion is that they make it more obvious to passersby that this is a Jamaican restaurant—perhaps by adding more green, black, and yellow to their signage.“

“Stopped by here for some quick Jamaican food and this place did not disappoint! Me and my sister ordered the oxtail (for her) and jerk chicken for me and it was so flavorful and the jerk was spicy and tender 😍 although the man who took my order made aware the Rasta pasta was going to take a while to make, i ended up opting out of it but he actually ended up adding some onto my plate as a second side and that was very kind of him!! So thank you for that, everything exceptional. Must go again.“

“My first time at Kingston Grill and I’d it weren’t for the professional, well mannered lovely lady at the counter it very well could have been my last. However, I will definitely return as in addition to the wonderful customer service experienced on Saturday July 22 at around 4pm. The food was delicious!!! I ordered the oxtail meal as well as sweet chili chicken wings. Awesome!!“

“I arrived to the location recommended by a friend who’s considering this location as a b day rendezvous in the near future.

Parking: there’s parking available in a well lit parking lot directly behind the building. There are lights along the entire plaza outside. No major trash or debris. A small spot which still made us feel safe. There’s an entrance / exit there’s well as the front door. There’s parking directly on the main road. We saw a few spots available in the side streets which was a plus.

Business at 8 pm was busy and rustling. A few seats became available at the bar as the crowd rotated. We were promptly greeted by the bartender. We also made eye contact with a wait staff who also went behind the bar POS. The music was at a moderate volume featuring classic reggae sounds throughout the spot. The bar has about 12 seats. There’s are four tv displaying weekly pronouns and local sports. We ordered wings and fries. Both were bright crisp and hot. An indication that grease is rotated fresh. The panko batter for the wings was tasty.

The restroom is located at the back by the entrance. I did not have an opportunity to check this out. The dining room is bright white and modern. There’s a projector and a tv screen in the area. We are observed the climate control is fair with hot food in hot chafing dishes. There are windows which let light in at sunset.

We discussed future dinner plans with owner Jeff. He provided menu options for large parties. He has digital displays of food and menu plans which was impressive.

“It was my very first time visiting J & D Good Taste Restaurant… I am beyond satisfied and highly impressed with the quality of the food. Amazing taste. I ordered the griot to stay, the legumes, and Bouillon to go. The griot was absolutely delicious and fresh, platains done well!! Now, when I got home and tasted the bouillon it felt like I was back home at Moms…OMG!! The legumes was the same … just like Moms. They give very nice portions and lots of meat. I’m definitely going back. Now I have to try my Jamaican faves from them. You’ve gained a customer in me. Thank You !!“

“While up there visiting family I went here. After the gym my sister wanted Ackee and saltfish. She wasn’t sure if they were open but they were-it was around 10:45 am on a Saturday. Listen I never ate here but def will be going back when I come back up. Their food is better than the Yardies on elmont rd. I got a saltfish fritter and has we were leaving the lady was bringing out lunch. We stopped in our tracks and got the freshest, tender jerk pork (we forgot to ask for a piece of the pepper) curry chicken and a chicken patty. Amazing and they def make the patty from scratch. “Came in today for a jerk salad and a side of Mac and cheese . The server innocently rang it up as pasta but they corrected the error with no problem and were very nice about it . Let me say , the jerk salad was DELICIOUS. Definitely worth the money , the chicken was a little spicy , super flavorful and juicy . The mango’s and cucumbers in the salad were fresh. The side of Mac and cheese was the best I have had at any Caribbean restaurant in the entire area and I’ve lived here for over 20 years. “The place needs a bit of TLC. Everything inside is dated, ripped and dirty. The ceiling is falling apart. The chairs are torn. The owner needs to spend some money to make the place decent for customers.
Besides that, the food is decent although the plates leak terribly and grease spreads all over when one gets the food out of the bag. TLC is what's needed.“
