“Located in the clubhouse at Western Turnpike Golf Course, The Hedge Bistro is a casual restaurant and bar serving up pub fare, draft beer, wine and mixed drinks. The soft opening menu was in effect at the time of this posting, which included a few appetizers, boneless wings, salads, burgers, sandwiches and a kids menu at fair prices. The menu will be expanding and offering more appetizers, street tacos, and pizzas soon. The atmosphere is old school casual with seating up at the bar, table seating and booths, TVs on the walls.I stopped in at The Hedge Bistro for a late lunch and to cool off on a very sunny and humid day. I sat up at the bar and given their soft opening menu. I got an ice quickly ordered the All American Burger ($13 plus tax) with fries. My food was served to me in 12 minutes after ordering. The burger was served open face with tomato slices, crisp lettuce, red onions, blue cheese crumbles (my choice on top of a firm fresh grilled beef burger patty on a soft toasted bun. The hot golden coated fries were typical crisp outside and soft inside, ketchup cup provided on plate (could've used a bit more). After I was finished, I got the check which was $14.04 with tax before tip (paying cash) or $14.60 with tax before tip (paying by card) and of course I went with the green option.Overall, a pretty good burger and fries lunch in a cool place. Afterwards, I headed back outside towards the greens and it was very steamy out there.“
“My bride's family are generational customers of the original Orchard Tavern. I've been going since the late '70s after football games at Bleeker Stadium. The present owner has expanded to this new site on Western Ave (formerly Dorado's) in front of Star Plaza. A lot of renovations inside - new bar, open floor plan, bright & airy. They also have the big room on the side for events & parties. We had a drink at the bar as we waited for her brother & sister-n-law. Friendly bartender (short in stature - no name given, no name tag. People at the did have apps in front of them. When we were all present we were seated immediately. I missed the waitperson name - sorry. As per tradition the go it was Orchard pizza & chix wings. First the pizza - original style Orchard pizza which is a thin, crispy, 10 cut. They start at $10. for a cheese pizza -your choice of 18 toppings are $1.50 each. They also have white, vegetarian, & 12 speciality pizzas, such as buffalo chicken & shrimp scampi. We had three pizza at our table, half taken home. Wings are $13. for 10 in seven flavors w/ celery & blue cheese. Always consistently tasty and always cooked correctly - crispy skin and cooked through to the bone. Great job. NOTE: On your actual birthday the Orchard will treat you to a wing for each year of your age (in house only).I went for something different. I ordered a Philly cheese steak ($13). When it came out it looked fine to me, but the owner came over and said it was not the way he told his staff to make it. He offered to make a new one but I was OK w/ this one. Maybe it was the cheese on the bottom instead of on top? Flavor was great though. The owner came back, apologised again, and said he was taking my sandwich off the bill. That's how you take care of your customers. Excellent customer service from ownership down to all employees. This is how you get a loyal customer following. Thank you.We had beer & wine w/ our dinner. Full service bar is available.Hours are 12pm-8pm everyday. Family friendly dining. We will be back soon and thanks again for the great service. You should be proud.Nick & Liz, Albany, NYKid-friendliness: Family friendly. Dining area separate from bar.Wheelchair accessibility: They have wheelchair accessibility from parking into restaurant.“
“Juniors is my favorite, I only wish that they hired someone for operations. They take reservations, but they will not take names for reservations. They only ask for an amount of people and what time you are going to be there. This caused unnecessary stress the last time I went. I was also displeased by when my waitress would ask questions. It was a trivia night and she would always show up when a question was being asked, she seemed really nice, just I came for the event and I missed more than three questions because of that. Also trivia night is pretty fun, I highly recommend.Dietary restrictions: They do not serve any shellfish at this location, I am deathly allergic, so this is a big plus.Parking: Normally there are a lot of cars, and even when you have to wait for a table, you can still find a good spot.“
“We decided to try Albany Ale and Oyster House on a chilly, rainy Wednesday afternoon since we had to be on New Scotland Avenue for an afternoon doctor appointment. I'm so glad we did, and also happy we arrived just as they were opening because we were able to sit at the bar and visit with one of the owners, Mia. We tried a flight of beer opting for all pilsners, one each from Italy France, Czechia and from our own New York region; all tasty, just the right amount of foam and nice and chilled. I ordered the Beyond brat which comes with comes with kale slaw and honey mustard, crispy potato chips in a brown paper bag for soaking up the oil and keeping them crispy, and a mixed green salad with the best sesame honey dressing. I love good salads and this one was perfect, with dressing on each lettuce leaf. Mia said they take their salads seriously, and you can tell. My partner had the Reuben and he proclaimed it the best he ever had. Overall the taste, presentation and preparation of the food was perfect. Combined with the cozy atmosphere and the friendliness of the owner and all who work there; Albany Ale and Oyster House is now one of my top favorites in the areaVegetarian options: In addition to the Beyond Brat they offer Beyond Burger and some interesting salads.“
“Yesterday was my first time here and WOW. I got the lemon pound cake and now...I WANT MORE! Cute little store where you can pick up to go meals, alcohol, basic groceries, and really cute little cook books and how to make recipes with all ingredients included! Will 1000 percent be back.“
“A southern brunch that was so good. 4 of us went to celebrate a birthday and we all enjoyed it immensely. I had the Dad and it was absolutely delicious. We loved the fried green tomatoes, and the tater tots. I had a bourbon bacon bloody Mary that was out of this world. I can't wait to go back!Parking: Street parking was available and they have a lot behind the building.“
“one of the best restaurants i've been too. the staff is always very welcoming and friendly as soon as you walk through the door. i always see smiling faces. the food there is impeccable like the staff. it is so nice they are family owned. overall great experience here.“
“My friend and I were grateful that the table requested (booth) was provided. We both had the grilled cheese (we both asked and received the alteration of Swiss cheese only) and the tomato bisque soup. Delicious! Server was appropriately attentive and efficient, and professional.“
“Hands down best Italian left in the area. We both got chicken parm. It was the best we have had in the capital district. The clam chowder soup and meatballs were awesome too some of the best we have ever had!We hope the owners stay open for many years to come and the recipes don't change“
“We pass through the area regularly enough to have been here many times. The staff are all friendly, even though they don't know our names as they do for most of those who eat there! The breakfast items we've ordered are always properly prepared, and the coffee hot, but the one time we ate off the lunch menu we weren't thrilled and decided that in the future we'd stick with breakfast, which they serve morning and afternoon (we've never made it there the one evening a week they're open for dinner). They always have breakfast specials which are very reasonably priced and the atmosphere is a welcome step back in time so we look forward to returning.“
“Mouth-watering and thoughtful menu with creative, nuanced and seasonal inspirations for both food and beverage options. I was very impressed by the shishito peppers, general tso’s chicken bites, french dip and the espresso martini. The apps were perfectly battered, crispy and flavorful. The French dip just hit so right- tender meat, savory au jus, warm, perfectly toasted bread. The fries were perfect- exactly what you’d imagine if you are craving fries! And the highlight of our entire night was our bartender Halsey. Her genuine care in curating our experience cannot be matched. She made great suggestions, interjected with playful humor, read when our group wanted time to chat amongst ourselves, and made a PHENOMENAL cocktail. I mean, the most serious espresso martini anyone could hope for without the overstated hipster flair. 10/10. Would go back just for her. Watching her interact with her other bar guests was also a treat- it’s easy to see how she can command the room & keeps a mighty fine bar! Will certainly be back!“
“I was attending Jury Duty and was looking for somewhere close by to eat and came upon this spot. Very cozy but busy diner, and the staff there are so friendly and attentive. You see all types of customers, from locals to professionals. I can tell it’s a staple in the community!“
“A small hall in the wall with quality comfort food cooked by a family. This has been family owned and operated for years. Their food is delicious. The service is also very good no matter who your server is. Most of them are family members of each other and they all give you the same quality of service. Their gravy fries are SO delicious“
“Our choice for Schenectady Restaurant Week was Turf Tavern in Scotia, we have never been....it was delicious! I ordered off the restaurant week menu, Spinach Artichoke Dip, Prime Rib, Creme Brulee (this also came with a salad). Hubby had a Wedge Salad and the Sweet Cherry Pepper Pulled Pork. Everything was cooked perfectly and had excellent flavor, although I did need a little salt...Service was friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back!“
“If you go, and you should. Get the loaded hot dogs! I usually order to go and get either the hot dogs or their open faced turkey sandwich.I only ate inside once, and they were super busy, but we still received our food, delicious and hot.Absolutely go here if you are able.“
“Went for breakfast on a very busy Sunday morning. Electricity was out due to ice and snow, so assuming that locals were there because our hotel just up yhe road was out.Food was acceptable. Cooked as ordered. Service was ok. They were filled and people waiting.Wait time was ok as I said they were very busy.Felt good value for price. Will stop again when in area.“
“At a time when restaurants are scaling back on ingredients, portions and quality while charging more for meals, The Ritz On Union does just the opposite. I enjoyed a tasty ragu dish over papperdelle pasta. The portion was sizable and the pricing was fair.“
“Friday, Feb. 9 2024, we enjoyed a fish fry platter and a ranch, crispy chicken wrap platter. Always superb service, delicious , fresh food! Also IF you forget your take out food, on your table, not to worry because your waitress will chase after you , outside to hand it to you ! Thank you Eunice !! Dick and Bonnie Hebert 02/8/2024“
“We love it here!! The atmosphere is upbeat, but not noisy. The service is wonderful and the extras are appreciated. They always share a smile and the menu is innovative and changes periodically. This area NEEDS good restaurants that don't serve pizza!!! This is good one. And the bar is wonderful.“
“I went here for my brother's bday. Brought our own cake.Great vibe. Food delicious seriously the best wings in Albany. Wings are fresh n crispy outside juicy inside. Lots of variety flavors. My sister had the shrimp wrap and everything was fresh and taste great. DRINKS are great. And service was excellent. Safe location and clean bathrooms. Big parking lot too right across the street.“
“I've tried a few halal places around Albany, but the food at Aria Kabab just kicks. Their meat is so tender, flavorful, and delicious. I love getting their rice platters and the lamb shawarma sandwich; it really reminds me of the times when I used to live in Hyderabad, India. Also, a huge fan of their sauces! I also loveeeee the quantity of the portions.“
“We stop any time we are in the area. We were there this past Thursday and the food was excellent as it always is, and the waitress we had was awesome! She refilled our drinks without us asking and perfectly timed, i squirted catsup on my fries and it made a spurt sound... she immediately brought us another bottle, again without asking! We love it here and I know you will also!“
“It started out a little rocky due to the hostess being confused on who was waiting first and yet they wrote down our names lol but me being me I took over to help and everyone was seated in the correct order. Our waitress was one of the best waitresses that I've had in my life! She was attentive to my children and myself. She laughed with us and gave us her recommendations. The ambiance is cute it has a boat vibe. The challah French toast was good as well as the classic breakfast but the turkey bacon is nasty for sure, I'm not sure what brand they use but they need not to use it any longer.“
“Went here with two of my favorite people on a weekday in the early evening for ice cream. Plenty to choose from. Although we didn't get lunch or dinner type foods, they had a pretty large menu to choose from for that too. Would recommend trying if you're in the area or looking for an ice cream place.“
“This place was fantastic! Had my birthday dinner there tonight and the waitress Julie was amazing!!!!! Can’t wait to come back again!!!!! Thank you so much for making my dining experience a good one I appreciate it! You’re the best!Jess aka Helen“
“Place is very unassuming from the outside. Didn't have a reservation but they were very accommodating to get us in for a Saturday night. The food was phenomenal. The staff took time to get into great conversations.Parking: Either park on the street or the Dollar General parking lot.Kid-friendliness: Won't recommend bringing kids. The menu is not meant for children.“
“Well, they are two for two with our visits and review of 5 Stars! Our waitress, Samantha was our server again. As pleasant and on top of service as before. I went with the pastrami Reuben and my wife ordered the Philly Cheesesteak. The bread/toasted just crisp, the meat(s) were on the nicely rare side. The sides, steak fries and macaroni salad were excellent!! Real Heinz ketchup, a must with fries! Beverages were on tap. Only slight issue were the nacho and salsa appetizer, chips are just so so and salsa the same. Would not order again. Ambiance was great (big screen TV) and warm decor. Looking forward to another trip soon. Thanks again, love all the locals at the bar too!!“
“Love this place. The family who runs it does an amazing job and the food is literally ALWAYS great and I’ve been there like 10 times. It’s cute and quaint, but most importantly CLEAN. They also have creative and various options for both breakfast and lunch. My favorite breakfast spot by far!!!!“
“Very nice but small dining areas. Sat at a high top near the bar. It was crowded, so people were close. The lobster Mac and Cheese was very good. The wait staff were busy but managed to stop back several times to refresh drinks. Be aware you save 3% on your bill if you pay cash. Luckily for me, I had enough on me at the time.Parking: I went on a Saturday night. Parked in the bank parking lot. It was after hours and closed. I don't know how far I would have had to walk if I didn't park there.“
“Delicious food and a beautiful atmosphere! Came in from out of town for a hockey tournament and we were staying at the Hilton right next door and thought we would pop in for a quick bit. So glad we did cause it was the best food we have had in a while! Our waitress was an absolute angel as well! We will absolutely drive the 3 hours just to come back and eat here ?“
“Friendly atmosphere (welcoming); ambience is upbeat (music is delightful); plenty of staff so it seems like not stressful or overwhelming for them and us; food is delicious every time!! Many options too! I recommend the scallops covered in Gruyere or any sandwich for lunch...great place to eat and they are on a golf course...what's not to enjoy!!“
“If you have not been to this amazing pub, you're missing out! Sue is amazing, and so is all the rest of the staff there. The food is great, the atmosphere is amazing and the prices are cheap on everything. I absolutely love playing at this venue. I honestly wish we could do it weekly and be their house band.“
“Amazing creative offerings. Sandwiches are great quality. Fries and burgers perfectly seasoned and flavorful. Soups are next level.Staff is friendly and knows a lot of clients by name. Somewhere that they may ask if you want the "usual" but you're going to want to occasionally try something new also.“
“I am not usually one for chain restaurants but this was not your typical chain experience. I had been to this location once about 6 months ago, and frankly it was very disappointing. We had to send our steaks back because they were horrible, but the regional GM apologized and made it right. Still left a bad taste in my mouth. However, this time I can attest that is was fantastic. I ordered the ribeye and it came out cooked to perfection and was so flavorful. Honestly, this was one of the best steaks I have ever had. I will be going back.“
“Beautiful pub with friendly staff and many beers on tap. No loud music playing so you can actually have a conversation with your friends and not be “yell-talking” to be heard! My small critique: I wish the bartenders would serve beers in their accompanying branded glasses (or just have no brands on the glass at all). It was a trick of the mind drinking an IPA from a glass labeled “Coors Lite”! :)“
“consistently the best pizza I can find delivered around here! It is slightly on the well done side which I love ....everything they have has been well above average! Please keep doing what you do -its very hard to find above average pizza around here ( especially delivered ). Wings are also above average best I can find outside of eating at a place in person.“
“I love this place! Believe me, everything you read about the chicken wings here is spot on. They are meaty, juicy, and delicious. Jen helped me out and she couldn't have been nicer. She even started singing behind the bar! That's the kind of neighborhood spot this is. It feels like it's been around for 100 years and everyone is made to feel welcome. I can't wait to return because there were so many items on the menu and so many beers on tap it's impossible to conquer it all on just one visit. This is the perfect dive bar.“
“Best place for great entertainment, good food and friendly service. Check out their Jazz Tuesdays and Sunday brunches. Any venue that promotes and supports musicians with atmosphere and food to match is where I will spend my money and time. Hooray LarkStreet Tavern⭐️.“
“$60 pp for a single cocktail 2 apps and a salad. Not busy at all on a Monday even though many other places are closed. Consistently better than average and takes it up a notch if you’re looking to impress. Still cozy enough.Vegetarian options: Few options and fewer veganWheelchair accessibility: Not great entry but ok once you’re in“
“It was my first time at the Bourbon, I had the best experience ever thanks to Lucy and Jim They treated so good and welcomed me so well. I will definitely come back and bring my friends with me for a wonderful hangout. Lucy is the best bartender. If you go there ask for Lucy for sure to.mix your drinks.“
“I ordered garlic, Parmesan wings from Dutch's Place for lunch today. The wings were even more tender than any other place I have tasted them. And the garlic and Parmesan permeated the wings as well. The only thing missing was the blue cheese sauce. I called Dutch's and they said that I didn't have it listed on my order. I then checked my phone, saw that it was indeed on my order and called GrubHub to confirm it, indeed it was on the order they had. It would've been an extra boost to the wings, which needed no additional support, but would've kicked things up a lot . GrubHub gave me $3.24 off of the bill because of this which was pretty nice. Minus that though, everything was pretty good.“
“Inconspicuous and casual; don't let the simplicity of this place fool you. Their food rocks.Quality ingredients and food, reasonable prices, and friendly staff. Stop by for a quick meal, and you won't be disappointed. Ralo's a good guy.“
“Worth the drive.I Love this place. The pizza’s are fresh made to order. The Sicilian is Amazing. They have killer chicken fingers. Their subs are amazing. Packed with fresh sliced meats and cheese. My son LOVES the fries and the Raspberry cheesecake.Take the ride down 443. Clarksville is a beautiful little town and the Best Deli in the Capital district.“
“Amazing! Simply amazing.Where do I start.Food is reasonably priced.3 eggs, toast, sausage, bacon, home fries, coffee..... just 11 bucks. They also have smaller meals for 5-8 bucks. In today's world, that's cheaper than the cheapest breakfast and much much better. The home fries: crisp, with a slight crunch, warm but not piping hot, perfect. I usually use ketchup, I didn't because it would've ruined them. They tasted so good.Eggs: Perfect. I asked for over medium. Which is kinda specific. Not only did she cook them right, but she nailed them so perfectly that it reminded me of my mother and grandmother's cooking. Perfectly done eggs at the perfect temperature.Bacon : Again nailed it, crisp but not hard. I don't know how she does it!Sausage: slightly salty, but this was perfect because as I stacked it with the unsalted home fries, it was incredible.Coffee : Fresh, my God, was it fresh. Slightly sweetened, almost like the sugar was a support to the coffee, but it didn't overtake the coffee. The coffee was the main event. Again, perfect temperature. All through the whole ordeal, she was attentive, polite, and just pleasant to be around. There's no substitute for someone who really cares when they run a business“
“Great little spot in Delmar. Stopped in for a bite on our way home, and got the roasted red pepper, spinach and artichoke bisque and Irish onion soup, Bavarian pretzels and waffle fries. Super busy place, but there was a seat for us right away. Excellent soup and appetizers. Will definitely go back for dinner.“
“Didn't know what to expect as i've never been here before but i walked in and saw the newly renovated restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. Sat by the cozy fireplace and I had Allie as a server, she was sweet, informative and attentive! I ordered the half order of wings and they were great, good sauce. I then got the lobster roll and was floored by the flavor. It's fresh and melts in your mouth, i finished the whole plate! Such a hidden gem in a chill upscale environment! Not too expensive at all. Will be back!“
“It definitely has a large beer menu and I was really happy with my beer. Also it's nice and dark. Really good location because it's next to offices, downtown and train station. If you like Schenectady then this bar probably has the best beer.“
“This place almost has a neighborhood bar feel to it. Simple and classic bar food. The biggest positive is the prices for the food and drink. We had a burger, sandwich and a small pizza which were all fine plus a few drinks and the bill was $20 less than expected. Add in great golf cart views and we will be back.“
“Great place. Very big selection of beer and on different sizes of pours. I have had the burgers in the past and they were all delicious. I recently had the pulled pork tacos. Oh, so good.Definitely a place to stop if you like beer and a good atmosphere.“
“I had a dinner to celebrate my 30th birthday and it was an AMAZING experience!! Lois helped us plan and coordinate everything, she even helped my boyfriend plan a surprise proposal for me. The food was delicious, and the staff were kind and accommodating to us, even though we ended up having more people than was planned. They were all very polite and professional. We are so happy with our experience and will definitely be returning for future events.“
