“I’ve been coming to Rolo’s since they first opened and they really never disappoint. The food just gets better and better. Everything is amazing but my hands down favorite is the shrimp. I’d say it’s easily some of if not the best shrimp I’ve ever had in my life. The whole menu just compliments itself from the Calabrian chili butter to the wagyu steak. Also, Sitting in the back of the restaurant is such a cool experience because you get to watch the chefs work their magic on that wood fire grill. This is definitely one of the best restaurants in NYC and in my top 5.“

As we were a table of two sitting in the middle-every time they walked by their tails of the shirt would hit us and our table. If you’re going to wear a very baggy loose shirt-tuck it in-to prevent this annoyance.No one seemed to be pressed for time-taking orders-fresh drinks-etc. the doorman stated when the next reservation was-as a warning not to linger more than 1.30 hours, but the waitstaff seemed clueless to this as it was she and her absence that kept us there almost 2 hours. Mind you-we were enjoying the wine, food, and conversation so we didn’t mind, except we had show tickets and were almost late. The waitress had an air of royalty attitude- better than us-as we are lucky she would visit our table and take our order. This is how she made me feel.Food is as delicious as beautifully plated. The atmosphere and food stole the show-the staff needs training-I’m not going to remove a star from the review for the staffing issues as the restaurant as a whole-and their food-is stellar. “I really like this restaurant! The food is high quality and the experience is fine dining but fun/relaxed.The menu is composed of bits of familiar recipes with Korean twists and French culinary techniques. There’s galbi, squid ink fried rice, uni, and mäd toast (which sounded monstrous but I didn’t get to try it this time) plus much more. I liked that the menu is small-sized and minimalist with clearly labeled snacks, little colds, hots, mains, extras, and desserts (menu is posted outside the entrance and on website). The current menu that started in mid-March has snacks/appetizers such as spicy yellowtail tart, beef tartare, fried shiitake mushroom rice balls (I think?, it’s labeled as mushroom arancini on the menu), pork head katsu, and scallion buns with unique sauces on the side ($20 per person, either no one or everyone orders). I tried the mushroom tempura with onion dip too! Everything was elegantly and adorably plated. Our server explained what’s what and suggested how to best enjoy some dishes. They have a really extensive drinks menu (many pages), complete with your usual offerings and their own unique cocktails, rice alcohol, maekgeolli, and even alcohol free cocktails woohoo! Not sure if all of the ice cubes for the alcoholic drinks are engraved with the restaurant’s name and logo but ours were and I thought that was a really cool and personal touch.An equally important part of my dining experience was the atmosphere and service. The staff are attentive, frequently filling glasses low on water and folding napkins when you step away. They also keep the music bopping and adjust their playlists. The lighting is a little dim and the interior is ‘cool club’ vibes but for a slightly more sophisticated audience. It’s a place to come in casual or dressed up a little for fun. It’s best for smaller groups of 1-4 I think based on seating arrangements but they seem to be able to accommodate slightly larger groups at some bigger tables and in the back room. Expect to pay $50-$100 if you get one item from each category on the menu and a drink. Probably $100+ if you get more or multiple drinks. The bar area in the back is across from the kitchen, which might be cool to peek at to see some staff members curating orders.I like that it’s on a quieter block in ktown area. The price range and location filters out loud and teen crowds, so it feels like a great place for young adults and Millenials to catch up or go on a date. It’s a place to sit down and chat while you savor small bites and wait on more food to arrive, so you’ll probably need like 1.5-2 hours if you’re going for a natural relaxed pace. I also saw a family of 5 enjoying dinner together here. Lastly, this is random but the hand soap is heavenly. I can’t wait to see what other menus they craft!!Dietary restrictions: They will ask about dietary restrictions and can modify recipes. If you don’t eat certain ingredients/foods, they can omit snacks too and adjust the price for you accordingly.“

“Every time I eat here I get some good old comfort food. Their cheese grits are amazing! The music they play will have you dancing in your seat. The bench seats are comfortable but the tall chairs aren't. My last visit I got an expired diet coke and was told people complained earlier about the diet cokes so they removed them when I complained. That being said, I recommend visiting and I'll be visiting again. Try the honey chicken, biscuit and cheese grits.“

Each dish came out as it was made and each dish was absolutely delicious. A person in our party had a gluten allergy which was no problem and accommodated with ease. The moment you walk through the door you can see into a meat pantry where all of their steaks are aging. The server recommended the Porterhouse for 3 as well as a ribeye. We took his recommendations. They were excellent. It was a ton of meat since the portions are very good, but we finished it all. My favorite of it all was the filet portion of the porterhouse. If I were to come back, I would probably order a bone-in filet instead. The lobster cocktail was a good appetizer, the onion rings are nice and sweet, and the wedge salad was good too.“

Duck pastrami hash & poached eggs, caramelized onion, parsley salsa verde & local greens. Poached eggs were cooked perfectly and the salsa was great. The duck and the hash was other worldly. Tons of duck. In almost a stew of small potatoes perfectly softened. In some type of gravy. Wow. Even the greens are great. Nice light dressing. Almost salty. Service was friendly and attentive. My daughter said her avocado toast was excellent. I don't make it to Brooklyn that frequently but can't wait to go back to this great spot.
