“Mike's Coffee Shop has a quintessential diner feel and you better get there early if you want to snag a booth. They serve up all the classics and none of that $14 pancakes nonsense. I focused in on the Greek Specialties section and ordered a Gyro on Pita for $7.25. It has a good amount of meat, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, and tzatziki on soft pita. I could've used a squeeze of lemon on the side, but otherwise a flawless diner experience.“

“I really enjoyed this place. It has some retro charm. It even had a Photos booth and the food was good. The desserts were amazing. Largest milkshake I’ve ever seen in person and the staff was really nice and friendly and Alfredo the manager was really good guy.“

“I liked the menu options a lot, a good variety of diner food w/ some French inspired dishes. Our waiter was funny and really nice lol. Place is kinda small, but we didn’t have to wait at all even though it’s a no res spot. They gave us a small ice cream and whipped cream dessert for new years 🥹 Overall, I had higher expectations for the food based on the price points so was a little disappointed

- French onion soup ($19): 7/10, I LOVE French onion soup, but the broth wasn’t as flavorful or onion-y as I would’ve liked. Was pretty excited about this but disappointed. It was filled to the brim, which is great in theory, but it was lowkey hard to start eating it without it spilling over
- Patty melt ($21): 8/20, pretty solid, but lowkey reminds me of the melt from Waffle House lol
- Fries: 7/10, standard
- Complimentary ice cream w/ whipped cream: 7/10, standard ice cream, but it was nice that it was free 🥹

“Empire Diner is more than just a diner, it’s an institution of Chelsea. Pricier than your average diner, their cuisine takes on daring takes of original flavors. Massive drink list and a very cool atmosphere to boot. Across from Clement Clarke Moore Park and just under an amazing art mural. This is a place to impress and you will be impressed by this spot.“

“Just to start this review off, a word of advice...do not order pick up via Seamless from this diner. Every time I have done this, without exception, I have had to stand and wait as my order hasn't even been started yet - and I do arrive at designated pick up time. Interestingly if you order delivery it arrives in 15 mins:) That aside, this is hands down the best diner food I have encountered. It never fails to amaze me when I see the lines outside Gramercy Diner where the food is terrible when this place is so much better!! Highly recommended, with the atmosphere and decor of a classic diner should you choose to eat in rather than take away.“

“Wonderful little spot. The food was delicious and the staff very attentive and professional. There aren't many spots in the area where the menu is full of variety especially breakfast. Their egg white omelette is delicious and their fresh coffee must try.

“We called for breakfast to start the day.....with snow on the ground something warm was needed.... we had double poached eggs on toast with home fries.....corn beef hash with poached eggs.... all tasted great and cooked perfectly.... hot chocolate was great.... service and welcome was great.... forgot to take before picture🫣“

The food is exactly what you'd want it to be; we had a breakfast burrito and avocado toast with poached eggs which we perfectly cooked. Free refills on the coffee was brilliant too. We were there about 8:45 and were seated straight away, order was taken promptly and the food arrived without any real wait. Definitely recommend.“

“Had breakfast there twice. Once solo and the next time with my wife. Consecutive Tuesdays. Just there this morning, after the golf range at Chelsea Piers. It's a combination of Greek and Mexican specialties. I have sampled the eggs overeasy with corned beef and this time had three poached eggs with fresh tomato and feta, home fries and coffee. All wonderful. My wife had fried eggs with ham on top of grilled taco. She loved it. This is a top notch diner with excellent service.“

“Stopped by Tria Bakery Cafe Diner while waiting out a 2-hour wait at Golden Diner. We were starving and didn’t want to stand around in the cold, and this place ended up being the perfect move. It’s only about a 6-minute walk from Golden Diner, and we were able to sit down, stay warm, and enjoy good food and coffee while we waited. Cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and exactly what we needed. Definitely glad we came here.“

We are so consumed by how many 5 star reviews somewhere got, or if it’s been sprinkled with magic influencer dust that I think we’ve forgotten to appreciate things for exactly who and what they are. “The menu looks great the write up about the food is promising. The problem I see is with your training of your staff. That falls on the management. The management is setting up their employees to fail. Train your staff, hold yourself accountable, you as a manager is to train your staff, to your standards and expectations. If you have staff members who will not or cannot meet your expectations of doing the job, if they cannot or will not follow instructions, you need to terminate them that includes family members. It sounds harsh, I know jobs are hard to get in the Philippines. That is more of a reason to train your employees to do the job to their best.“
