I literally turned to my husband and told him “this is the kinda service I like” thoughtful friendly warm bartenders who spark convo, and answer every question. Such a good atmosphere and good music. Every song I was like…. Omg…. Love that song. I didn’t know what to expect, I try to avoid spots with bars or interiors that are overly beautiful when I’m hangry lol. I find the food usually doesn’t hit, since some places typically focus more on drinks, but I was pleasantly surprised.

The food was so thoughtfully made. I had the best BLT, small details in prep, like perfectly shredded lettuce and sliced tomato’s really can make or break a sandwich. My husband loved his burger and the fries were so crispy and good. Typical city prices, and the atmosphere makes you wanna stay awhile so it’s worth it to me. Beautiful during the day but next time im gonna come later in the day I can enjoy the deep rich atmosphere they carefully curated. So so beautiful.“

“Came here on a Saturday afternoon after seeing the pancakes and had to investigate for myself. I was dining solo, so grabbed a seat at the counter and ordered the three-stack blueberry pancakes with coffee. The pancakes looked fantastic and tasted even better, the blueberries are baked right into them, although I wouldn’t have complained about a little more blueberry sauce on top.

It was busy and lively, but the staff were friendly and the whole experience had that classic diner charm.“

I usually come during lunchtime and have always had a great experience but I went in tonight for dinner for the first time, it was the most unnecessarily rude service I've ever experienced in my life/20 years in hospitality. “What a great little find. We were out and about near the Ballon Museum and found this gem. It is truly old school diner. There is limited seating (first come first served). There is some outside seating (limited). The menu is pretty extensive and something for everyone. The service was quick! recommend 100%“

“Would give 10 stars if I could! This diner has a huge menu of really tasty stuff, there’s something for everyone. The service is also great. But the best thing about it is the owner - he greets everyone warmly and gets to know you. You’ll walk in a stranger but you’ll walk out feeling like family. You can always count on Mr John to lift your spirits. We’ve only lived in the city for a month but this is already one of our regular spots.“

“We came to New York for a few days and had an amazing Brunch at Old John’s Diner. The coffee (an important factor!) was amazing, and the food delicious! Also the decoration is very beautiful. “Please make your next night out at Crispin's. I came here on a Friday night on a fluke because it was raining and got sangria to pass the storm. It quickly turned into wine, free bread, and the best pappardelle bolognese I've had (and priced so well at $18 for fresh pasta). The owner was so great, and I genuinely hope his business succeeds as much as he was so nice to me. Definitely worth a visit!“

“Stopped by Tria Bakery Cafe Diner while waiting out a 2-hour wait at Golden Diner. We were starving and didn’t want to stand around in the cold, and this place ended up being the perfect move. It’s only about a 6-minute walk from Golden Diner, and we were able to sit down, stay warm, and enjoy good food and coffee while we waited. Cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and exactly what we needed. Definitely glad we came here.“

“Staff was super attentive and kind. Even offered to turn up the temperature when I’d mentioned to my friend I was cold (I declined but an appreciated gesture).

Unfortunately the jerk chicken fell short for me. It was very dry. I also ordered a margarita that was quite sour and unbalanced.

“When wandering around looking for a lunch spot we found this place! We watched a local elderly couple walk in and that was a good sign. Service here is attentive and friendly. The vibe here is casual and old school. Nice interior. I just had an iced tea so my family ate. The food s straight ahead, nothing fancy but has all the staples. My family got some amazing salads, Cobb salad and Chicken Cesar salad! Come here for a yummy meal. Very local vibe!“

“Ate here several times with a friend a few years ago and just walked by yesterday and was reminded. It is good for what it is: diner food. I always get the eggs and hashbrowns—no nonsense and good. I think it is better and I’m pretty sure it is more expensive than the more famous Washington Square Diner across 6th Ave.“

“This place is a diamond in the ruff … 10/10 service, the hot turkey with gravy was reminiscent of my mom’s homemade cooking in 1998.
The portion sizes are enough to feed a family of 6.

My husbands turkey club was made with real turkey, the service was impeccable!

Beyond reasonable in price for NYC and it closed off our night on a perfect note while we rested our feet and waited on our 80$ uber back home.. ;)

“Stopped in for breakfast. Food was good and everything was fresh. I'm a type 2 diabetic so I asked for substitutions for potatoes and toast. They were very accommodating. My only complaint was that it was a bit pricey for those accommodations and for breakfast. I think it was $30 something dollars for a 3 egg white veggie omelette, no cheese, and a substitution of lettuce and tomato for potatoes and toast. I also had a side order of cottage cheese along with a hot coffee. I don't know. Maybe that's just the prices in New York City these days.“

“This is one of the last old school diners around I am in my 50s now and used to eat there in my twenties I am glad it is still around and when you see the food you don't think that it's going to be amazing but when you eat the food you remember why you kept going in your twenties. “It's great, but it's SO expensive. I got an omelette which came with hash browns and toast-- $35 after tax, tip, and fees!!!

The chorizo omelette was very tasty. Staff was kind.

I would go again, but only occasionally because of the price. The reason is there are other high-end restaurants where I could have a fancier meal for a similar price, but that said I did still enjoy the food and the experience.“
