“Walked over for a late breakfast while overnight near LA Guardia at the Fairfield inn. Pleasantly surprised (because of the mini mall it was in) with great food and service. We were wearing our green Mexico futbol jerseys and got applause from the staff when we arrived (Mexico was playing in the afternoon).“

“It's a nice family friendly restaurant. The service is outstanding. They don't accept reservations, so you have to make sure the whole party is complete before you can get a table. I recommend their lobster bisque, and some waffle fries for sharing! The food is good, you just need to go easy with their free dinner rolls, or you'll feel stuffed before your meal comes. 😀“

“My husband took me out for breakfast at the North Shore diner. Its my birthday today. I had ordered, two eggs over easy, home fries and toast. To my surprise the waiter came over and sang Happy birthday to me and gave me a strawberry shortcake with a candle and said make a wish.
Everyone is so nice. The food is great. Im definitely going to come back real soon. You get a good portion of food. Delicious!!!!!!“

“Exceptional eatery! Diner style all the way. Had eggs and corned beef hash with potatoes. Grapefruit juice (tropicana) and took a cinnamon roll with me (the best). Hash was not crispy but LOVELY that way, eggs were done just right, over medium, the heavily buttered rye toast dipped provided excellent yolk dips. Potatoes were abundant, and had morsels of pepper and onion. Ketchup exploded on me a lil..(can't put the bottles in the fridge). However they were attentive and apologetic following the incident.
I made my return for a waffle, the way it had tantalized my nostrils on the previous visit was inspiring of such. Waffle with banana was perfect. Filling, fluffy, crispy, sweet and savory.
p.s. ask for the salsa verde :)

“Today June 24th I had lunch here with a friend. It was my first time. Passed this cafe but never tried it. Well the food was delicious, prices reasonable and the waitress Eloise was delightful! I had vegetable quesadella. My friend had an egg white vegetable omelet with hash browns. The portions are generous! Our waitress Eloise made the dining experience here pleasurable. It quickly turned into wine, free bread, and the best pappardelle bolognese I've had (and priced so well at $18 for fresh pasta). “Classic NYC Greek owned diner here. I get tested like royalty, their food is on point, they have great specials and the customers constantly rotate, so a wait isn't but so long. This is my neighborhood diner, so I'll always return. I have friends who dine here alone on random days of the week because it's a peaceful environment.

“The menu looks great the write up about the food is promising. The problem I see is with your training of your staff. That falls on the management. The management is setting up their employees to fail. Train your staff, hold yourself accountable, you as a manager is to train your staff, to your standards and expectations. If you have staff members who will not or cannot meet your expectations of doing the job, if they cannot or will not follow instructions, you need to terminate them that includes family members. It sounds harsh, I know jobs are hard to get in the Philippines. That is more of a reason to train your employees to do the job to their best.“

“I came here regularly when the original owner George was in charge. Charming guy who stopped what he was doing to yell Hello to everyone who walked in. The food was regular diner food that he elevated. Huge portions and decent price. He retired or left and people who worked for him took over. I rarely go now. Food is decent but prices went up and portions are smaller. The servers are good and personable. Place seems to always be busy since there are several schools and offices in the area. Still decent but you don't get as much value for your money and no charm and personality from George.“

The service is always good. The staff are always friendly. I have never had a bad meal here - after many many times at the Metropolitan Diner.

The only negatives are the difficulty parking (welcome to Middle Village) and the sometimes long wait (but, that’s what you get when the food is superior)!“

“I’ve eaten here a few times over the last 20 years and had mixed results regarding my meal. Sometimes is was good and other times mediocre. I believe it matters what you order and when. I don’t recommend order breakfast items late in the day.
Sandwiches are good and French fries were tasty. Quiet atmosphere and I’ve never found it to be crowded when I’ve gone.

Even eating it today, it brings back memories of when my mom would take me and my siblings to eat there for dinner. At the time, they would close much later than they do now. Thankfully, I'm already walking home by 2 pm, and since I live close by, the delivery was nice and fast. The food is always delicious, generously well priced, and the customer service is always really nice. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger that came with fries, along with an extra side of onion rings. That came up to $20 on the dot, and with the portions they serve, I was more than happy with that price. I have, and I will continue to go to this amazing restaurant.
