“I'm always on the hunt for tasty gluten-free pancakes...and Columns Wine Bar serves it for brekkie! I had the Buckwheat Griddle Cake with apples / honey caramel-like butter. The pancake was light and fluffy sweetened by the apple topping. I still poured syrup all over lol! Others in my party had the Bruleed French Toast which looked amazing, and the toast & scramble. We all fought over the very tasty Patatas Bravas. Needless to say, we were quite happily stuffed. Who knew a wine bar can deliver delicious breakfast!“

“Juan at Cotto at the LGA terminal C location was very attentive while visiting the terminal on our way back home from our NYC visit. It’s the airport so it’s a little more than if you got it somewhere else but I was very happy with the meatball Parmesan and the wedge salad my wife and I got as well as the Long Island iced tea. It’s New York and is not Burger King and you get what you pay for. They were all very good here. Juan was able to happily accommodate getting a little side of extra marinara sauce for my wife’s sandwich. Was a very pleasant experience and I highly recommend. Enjoyed our visit.“

“Solid neighborhood spot. The downstairs is more of a bar (but still serving real food), while upstairs is sit-down and family friendly. The orecchiette was tasty, and the pesto had a nice fresh flavor. The sopressetta and hot honey pizza was a great balance of flavors and a touch of heat. For dessert, we had the banana bread pudding, which was cinnamon-y and cozy.“

“I attended a surprise party this Saturday evening. The cuisine was preselected, waiter service was excellent, should receive raises. The table arrangement was very poor. The party was downstairs in one of the private rooms. We were 25 people at one very long table, basically the length of the room, which made it difficult for guests to get around the seated persons at the head of the table on either side. Having two tables would have been a better arrangement, but one long table was not conducive for conversation since we were so far from the other end of the table. The food; not many complaints, I really didn’t have a problem. I didn’t have a lot of food, but it was delicious. The dessert, sorry not very good. Those Famous Crepes(palacinkes) sorry not that great. A lot of crepe and not a lot of filling. The dish was served with fruit, unfortunately this fruit was not in season, so the watermelon although it added color to the dish, upon tasting it, left much to be desired. Why not serve fruit that is in season? No offense to my party hosts who selected my menu for the evening, it didn’t lend itself to the 5 Star Reputation of Dubrovnik’s. I would like to make reservations and splurge on a dinner on my own, I have a feeling I would LOVE the experience! Btw, another plus was the parking!“

I have been going to Quatorze since the early 1990’s when Mark and Peter were on 79th St. I was thrilled when the restaurant recently moved to my corner at 82nd and 1st Ave. and have always enjoyed dining there. NEVER AGAIN. I just had the most awful in-person experience with a manager, Nino who was rude, dismissive and argumentative. And all I wanted to do was make a reservation. Nino is the complete antithesis of the way the staff at Quatorze treat customers. If this is the person who is now the face of this beloved neighborhood gem, then sadly I will not be back. And that’s a shame. I left a message asking to speak to the owner, Mark, but I guess having to speak to an actual loyal customer who is unhappy is beneath him. UPDATE: I received a call from the owner Mark, who questioned the veracity of my account. Do yourself a favor and steer clear - these are rude, arrogant people who think we’re all just dumb. And the food and service is average at best.“
