“Cubbyhole is without doubt worthy of a 5-star rating in terms of its unpolished authenticity and true community. It’s a memory bank that spans decades for my friends and I, who share a deep sentimentality for this iconic establishment. Respectfully, one collective note that is worthy of mentioning is - the drink quality and spirit selections are really overdue to be stepped up. Nothing pretentious or ironic, just swirls of quality alcohol and mixers that a) make people excited about drinking there and b) not hate themselves the next morning.“
“My husband & discovered Uncle Charlie’s a few years ago on a trip & now it’s a must for us every time we visit NYC. We like that it’s less touristy & more of a local hangout than some of the other piano bars in town. The bartenders & local regulars are friendly, the drinks reasonably priced & we have always felt very welcome included as visitors.“
“We had a really great time at Flex. The vibe was heaps of fun, completely welcoming, and everyone was incredibly friendly. Our bartender was excellent. The happy hour drinks were fantastic and really good value.
It didn't seem matter at all that we were two women, as soon as we walked in heaps of locals chatted with us and made us feel at home.“

“The bar was really nice, but the lady that was bartending was extremely rude and dismissive. For this reason we only had one drink before deciding to move on, and the drinks were just okay.
However we met some LOVELY patrons at bar and enjoyed talking to them for quite some time.“
“The old-school West Village charm and lively but comfortable vibe make it perfect for a relaxed night out. Drinks are strong and reasonably priced, and the crowd was fun and friendly. Service was quick and welcoming. It got busier later but was still enjoyable. About $10-20 per person. A reliable classic in the Village.“

“The food review was rated by the other guy. The service is mine. The atmosphere, to quote the other guy again, is one of the few gay bars, perhaps the only gay bar, in which you can have a conversation. You can be yourself. Admittedly, as I told our bartender, I was able to write two books of poetry at the bar. I'm biased, protective of Julius'.“

“I LOVE CLUB CUMMING. Colt and Nick were the kindest bar tenders, and even gave my boyfriend and I free, home made cookies! I was nervous on the way to the club because I can be socially anxious, but my boyfriend and I had the best time ever. I can’t wait to come back during an event! And to maybe meet Alan!“
“I've been a regular at Pieces for around 13 years. It's been my go-to bar in the city when I come for some fun. Drag bingo is especially entertaining - Chaka Khanvict is hilarious and you can't get better entertainment in the city. The bar staff are great and deliver drinks quickly (speed is relative depending on how crowded it is) and prices are comparable to the area, and even cheaper during Happy Hour.“

I couldn’t feel welcome here than any other bars!
On weekends it’s full but the bartenders are always nice and helpful
During the week , they talk, give you local tips etc
And I just love music and piano

“We went here for karaoke night and although there wasn’t a huge crowd in that night, the bar seemed way nicer and fun compared to the others I’ve been to in a few other cities. Matzah Belle-Soup was friendly and hilarious which made the experience amazing. Without her it probably would’ve just been like a regular bar with gay people having drinks.“
“In 2015 My sister brought me to this establishment as a spur of the moment stop because she knew the people in charge of entertainment and she told them that I had yet to see her perform live and let her get up onto the stage and tell everyone there that I was there to see her perform for the first time.“

“My favorite gay bar. Upstairs has a piano area that’s perfect for a more relaxed, chill night, while downstairs is the complete opposite with dancing, drag, go-go dancers, and a party atmosphere.
The crowd is eclectic and feels much less pretentious than a lot of Hell’s Kitchen spots, which makes it easier to just enjoy yourself. It strikes a good balance depending on what kind of night you want.“
“Saturday nights are fun I enjoy going to support my local drag gals and dance . definitely recommend checking it out Saturday or any night of the week . drinks are not that expensive for LES prices , and cover on Saturday is 5 $ . not bad at all“
“Great bar. Three dance floors on Saturday and Sunday. Cover charge for Saturday was $25 and $20 on Sunday. Monday was free. It was very clean. The music changed from day to day. Enjoyed the 90’s House the most. Limited IPA selection and white wine. Friendly staff. Enjoyed meeting Arsenio who was very informative about the NYC bar scene. It’s a bit out of the way in Chelsea but thankfully there were lots of taxi’s. They had a clothes check and ATM. And they had a leather store inside too. Check it out.“

The ambience and atmosphere is inviting and relaxing. The music wasn’t too loud, just right. It has a spacious vibe to it, considering it’s not too huge of a bar.
The food was amazing. The flatbread pizzas were really good, and fresh.
Almost everyone who worked there was genuinely friendly and helpful.
The 3-star service was based on the female server my friends and I had. I don’t know if she was new, especially in the bar business. I don’t know if they train their servers with proper customer service and interaction with patrons. She started out nice, but I don’t think she had the real patience of a great server. (Side note: I ordered a MADRAS, which is Bartending 101 if someone trained to be a bartender. None of the bartenders knew what it was, and had to google it. I think aspiring bartenders really should go to some training.)
My friends and I went specifically on a Monday for Trivia, and “Gay Gaston” was a great trivia host. To put icing on the cake, our group WON!
Despite all of the shortcomings that occurred, we still loved the place, and we look forward to returning. I just hope they’ll really retrain their servers and bartenders, so they know the basic idea of customer service, patience, and simple information on traditional signature drinks like Madras, Cuba Libre, etc.“
“I went on a Monday night with a friend. I liked the atmosphere. It wasn’t too crowded which was nice for me. Not sure how the weekend looks. We saw some of the drag show, I plan to come back to see the other queens. The bartender was very friendly and nice.“

“Boxers! Hear my plea, I beg of you! Please come back to The Heights! I know you had to close down during covid but the same space is available again! We need you desperately up here! You guys were my mental, emotional and dance release. The atmosphere was fantastic and I danced for hours with many different people. It was such a great place to be. Please come back!“

“Can’t tell me nothing about this spot! My go to place when I’m looking to duck in somewhere for a bit when I’m in the east village or when my friends are in town and looking for a meet up spot. If you like dark divy gay bars and you’re not pretentious, this is your spot. Great bartenders, cheap drinks, great music. They also have one of those pool tables where you have to shake and hit it to get it to work— what’s not to love!“

“We've been to lesbian bars all over - Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Sacramento - this was by far the BEST one we've ever experienced. The A/C is ON, very cold and makes the dancing that much better. 32LVS needs a raise ASAP. The cocktails are quite strong so be careful. All of the women are beautiful and so sweet. It felt safe.
10/10 will come back next time we're in NYC.“

“By far the top cocktail bar in Hell’s Kitchen. I’ve been here for drinks with friends, corporate events, as well as date nights. There are multiple floors and plenty of seating area. Music is not loud so you can have a good conversation. My favorite spot is the martini room. Each area feels special and is separated enough to make it feel like you’re having your own private moment and not in a crowded bar in the middle of the city. They do a great job at making drinks and everything I’ve had, including the food has been top notch.“
