“Around 6:30 in the evening on weekdays, the store is almost full, business is pretty good, and the store also takes a lot of takeout orders.
The two of us ordered a bowl of mixed beef pho, a fried spring roll and a pork bun, and were very satisfied with everything. The fried spring rolls were very hot when they were freshly fried. They were crispy on the outside and filled with minced pork. They were delicious with the dipping sauce. There are three pork buns in a portion, and the fillings are crispy pork belly, pickled radish and sweet noodle sauce. This combination is unexpectedly harmonious and very satisfying. It is my favorite. The beef rice noodles contain beef tendons, beef slices and beef balls. There is not much meat but a lot of rice noodles. The soup is sweet and has a bit of Chinese medicine. It is just right for two people to share a bowl.“

“4.5/5 stars for food. This is the best Viet spot I’ve found thus far in the 12 years I’ve been in the city.
The Bun Bo Hue could’ve been spicier and more savory, but it was close enough! My sister and BIL had the Pho Tai and they said it was comparable to pho they’ve had in Vietnam. It comes with traditional pickled garlic and birds eye chilies, no need for the hoisin/sriracha that westernized phos require.
The mushroom and mustard green soup and sautéed morning glory reminded me of my mother’s cooking. The chicken wings were also super flavorful and crunchy.
The banh mi didn’t blow me away, but it was still one of the best we’ve had in NYC (although this is not saying much). Bread was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
I can’t wait to come back and try the many other dishes and drinks like the Hanoi Cha Ca and Mam Tom cocktail!“

“I personally believe this is the best vietnamese Banh Mi in manhattan. I always get #13 which is the OG cold cut combo.
If you want to Introduce your friends to Banh Mi... bring them here.
First timers would probably like the #1 sandwich. Which is just bbq pork. Or the #10 which is the lemongrass pork sandwich.
Fast friendly customer service and very organized“

“Hands down one of my favorite spots! The sandwiches are always fresh, packed with flavor, and made with bread that has the perfect crunch. The fillings are generous and balanced, never skimpy like some other places.
I also have to shout out their Vietnamese iced coffee! It’s strong, smooth, with just the right amount of sweetness. I’m not even a big coffee person, but this is one I find myself craving again and again.
Great food, quick service, and fair prices. If you’re looking for a solid banh mi and an amazing coffee, this is the place to go.“

“The half hour wait was worth it the first time for excellent fish, tomato and noodle soup. Delicious flavors and the ingredients melted in my mouth. However my second visit was very disappointing. The fish was tough and obviously day-old. The tomato had been hastily cut in HALF without even removing the dark part where the stem connects to the fruit, and the GINGER was in such enormous chunks I thought it was POTATO. I was with friends from out of town so didn't want to complain to the staff. I am doing so here. Hope you're more careful next time.“

“Food Low lights - Lemongrass chicken tasted like teriyaki chicken. Did not taste like Lemongrass chicken
BBQ pork also tasted like teriyaki marinade.
Food highlights- squid and summer rolls were good and reasonably priced
The service was good!
The food was okay“

“Saiguette has a really excellent Banh Mi. The lemongrass pork shoulder is my absolute favorite, the spicy creamy sauce is delicious and the pork is juicy. The veggies inside are generously portioned and the bread is crispy and soft. I probably eat it once a week and its genuinely almost a perfect sandwich.“

“Sao mai is probably my favourite Vietnamese restaurant in NYC. The place is very cosy and no-frills, the food is always so inviting and delicious, and price point is so good (especially in the city nowadays haha).
My favourite dish here is the bun bo hue. The broth is sooo fragrant -- just the perfect mix of spicy and sour (the lemongrass and shrimp paste flavours both taste so vivid without being too dominant). The noodles are cooked to a nice texture (and come in a large portion size), and the beef slices are so tender and flavourful. So delicious ... I'm getting hungry just writing this haha.
I also really like the bun thit nuong for one of the non-soup noodle dishes. The mix of lettuce and carrots is always so crispy and fresh, and the veggies complement the perfectly-grilled pork strips so well. Adding a bit of fish sauces adds a nice depth of flavour when mixed into the dry rice noodles, and every bite, combining a bit of meat, carbs, and veggies, is wonderfully balanced.
The pho dishes are also fantastic. Pho tai is a particular favourite (the beef slices are so juicy and tender), and the broth is just so aromatic without being too salty or oily.
The price point overall is so good -- it's hard to find such a good value in the city nowadays. The appetisers can be a bit pricey, relatively speaking (I like their summer rolls, but it feels like I should just get another entree at that point haha), but each bowl of noodles is usually in the mid $10-20. So worth.
I can't wait to come back again :)“

“(Almost) perfect northern style Bun dau mam tom. Should add lime to the sauce. Price is high. But in general, good option for northern people who miss home 😂
Dont expect good service tho 😂 they will forget whatever u ask them.
Appetizers dont have much to bring home about“

“I came to Em Vietnamese Bistro on a whim, craving something warm and comforting on a cold, snowy day, and I am so glad I did. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt inviting and calm. The space is relaxed and spacious, with beautifully lit lighting that creates a cozy, welcoming vibe. It is the perfect place to enjoy a hot bowl of soup.
I ordered the Bún Bò Huế Đặc Biệt after our server, Mint, shared that it was her personal favorite. When I asked her to help me choose between the spring rolls and wings, she genuinely recommended the spring rolls, and I truly appreciated her honesty. Her warmth and attentiveness made the experience even better.
The food did not disappoint. The broth was incredibly rich and flavorful, with a generous variety of meats that added depth to every bite. The spring rolls were perfectly crispy and, just as promised, absolutely delicious.
Overall, Em Vietnamese Bistro was a wonderful experience, from the ambiance to the service to the food itself. I would happily return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for comforting, high quality Vietnamese food.“

“Tried their OG Banh Mi, and WOW.... the baguette was incredible, easily one of the best Banh Mis I've ever had. The coconut cream coffee was also delicious and paired perfectly with the sandwich. Can't wait to go back and try more from the menu.
One tip: instead of waiting in line for hours, I ordered online for pickup. super quick and convenient. That said, I'd love to dine in next time to enjoy the full experience.“

“The food here is like coming home after a very long day. Whether you want to have a 23 hour pho (bone broth), or their amazing Bahn Mi, so much homey comfort. My brother showed me this place literally in June and being asd I've ordered this sandwich literally twice a week religiously. And you know that subway sandwich smell you hate when you have nothing else to eat? Smell lingers- you'll want this food to linger 😋“

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Such a cute and cozy spot! The food was super yummy, the vibe was chill and comfortable, and the staff were so kind—especially Pim, who made us feel really welcome 💕
I had the crunchy spring rolls and shrimp summer rolls (no pics because I was way too hungry 😅), then the Pho Dặc Biệt, Hanoi-style Banh Mi, and finished with the most perfect Flan Cà Phê.
💥 I dare you to try the Pho—the portion is HUGE and totally worth it! Trust me, you’ll leave full and happy 😊“

“Really amazing food! We ordered Caramel Pork Banh Mi, Beef Bulgogi Bowl, and Kimchi Fries. Fantastic flavors and it just hit the spot after walking all over NYC. I ate the bowl before taking a picture because I could not wait. It just smelled so good. The spicy mayo sauce is so addictive and the fries were crispy and delicious. It's a small shop so there may not be enough space to sit if it's busy. But I would 100% be back the next time I'm in the city.“

“I had the beef pho, and it was tasty. The broth was flavorful, meat was tender, and I absolutely devoured it. (If you’ve never had pho, the beef is rare at first, but it cooks in the soup. That’s why it’s pink in the photo). The two friends I went with both ordered the chicken pho which they also loved.
I docked one star because the restaurant was sooo busy on the Monday evening when we went. We waited outside for 40 minutes, and I was getting hangry. In my opinion if you just want a plain bowl of beef or chicken pho it might be worth it to go somewhere less busy. As for their more specialized dishes, I would have to go back to try them!“

“I am a native SF Bay Area woman with specific needs - and Banh Mi Place hits. Over the last 4+ years, I consistently enjoy the classic and braised beef as well as a grilled pork sparingly. Their summer rolls are filling and the peanut sauce is close to perfect.
I don’t often order pho from here, however I will pick up a side of broth almost every time I order.
Staff is attentive, communicative, and sweet.“

“We had been searching for a go-to Vietnamese place ahead of winter pho season and boy did we not have to look very far! Plum went above and beyond on all accounts. The plum platter appetizer was a must, especially if you’re bringing littles. The spring rolls were so incredibly fresh both inside and out, and the curry dumplings had perfect flaky dough that still held everything together.
Both the chicken and duck curry were hits. The perfect amount of spice for me (I enjoy mild to medium levels of spice but don’t seek out extra). The chicken was tender but could probably have been more so, but I’m just searching so something for them to improve at this point. It was all really well done.
Our wait staff was exceptional; they were cognizant of timing for our mains relative to when we finished our apps, and didn’t over-stay. They even provided an entire kid’s place setting for our two year old. A clean space, homey atmosphere, pleasant music, and DELICIOUS food. Coming again soon!“

“Nice atmosphere for a place with standard Vietnamese fare. Prices were a bit high, but you're paying for the atmosphere, location, and good food. Pork chops were delicious. I enjoyed the tenderness and charring. The wrapper for the spring rolls had an interesting texture. They reminded me of a Chinese crispy birds nest but more delicate. The team serving us were attentive and efficient.“

“If you're here for a very good sandwich I cannot recommend this place ENOUGH! They just opened and I wish to see a lot more people in the store for the quality and quantity of food you get for the price. I just had their grilled pork Banhmi sandwich and wow was I blown away by how good it was. I have yet to pick an item off the menu that was underwhelming. If you're ever passing by or doing errands, please take the time to stop by this store. I promise it will be worth your money!“

“If you’re looking for quality authentic Vietnamese soups, it’s the place to go. Being familiar with Vietnamese food, even in Vietnam, but within the soup realm only familiar with Pho, I was recommended the Tai Gau. The broth is delicious and the staff super friendly. I was able to try a a new tamarind drink they offered me and it’s quite delicious! The atmosphere is simple canteen style. Highly recommended!“

“Fish banh mi is the best fish sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. The fish is SUPER fresh and tender/flakey, the fish fillet breading is not too thick, the fresh made house baguette is soft (not stale at all), the pickled carrots also tasted fresh and not like they’ve been sitting around like other banh mi spots. Love they have a wide delivery radius and go downtown. The fried chicken banh mi is flavorful too but spicy.“

“The pho served here is good and the garnishes provided enhance it greatly. I recommend to order the pho with side of grilled beef/pork/chicken. The crispy spring rolls were better overall. I'd say the best item out of the two is the crispy spring rolls.“

“Found this spot and was satisfied. Enjoyed their vegan bahn mi. The bread was good and it was a good size. You can definitely share it if you’re not that hungry. Had their fresh roll as well. Small cafe so seating is limited. Glad to have found this spot in an area of mostly fried chicken and pizza. Friendly staff. Vegan and vegetarian options. Just a heads up we were told the vegan pho is not entirely vegan. The soup is meat broth. Other than that, food was good and fair price.“

“First time trying this spot, larger seating area than expected from passing by in the past and cute decor. My boyfriend got the grill beef banh hoi and I got the spicy lemongrass beef with fried rice. I also got the Thai iced tea. For appetizers, we had the spring rolls and Thai style fish cakes. We'd get every one of those dishes again and will definitely be back when it's cooler out for pho. The portion sizes were decent for the price as well, I think before I added on fried rice instead of white rice my meal was only $12. Service was great as well, so kind and attentive but not hovering!“
