The portions are generous and proper, too, particularly in this age of shrinkflation. Smithtown is a little far for me, but this is the ONLY-where i go when i need pho.“

“I recently had such a great dining experience at Splendid Noodle in Stony Brook, New York!

I ordered the roasted duck with hand-cut noodles and extra vegetables, including fresh bok choy, and it was truly an authentic experience from start to finish. One of the coolest parts was being able to watch the chefs through the kitchen as they prepared the noodles—either hand-pulling them or cutting them with a knife right before serving.

The broth was flavorful and incredibly savory without being overpowering or overly salty. On the table, they had homemade chili oil with chili flakes, which was a huge plus for me because I personally love some spice. I added about two spoonfuls, and it gave the dish exactly the kick I was looking for!

The restaurant has that true hole-in-the-wall feel, but don’t let that fool you—this was an amazing meal. I couldn’t even finish the entire bowl, so I ended up taking the rest home and having it as a second meal for dinner later that evening. It still tasted great reheated!

I also have to give them credit for their takeout packaging. I noticed that they pack the noodles separately from the broth, which is such a smart touch. If you’re getting your food delivered or taking it home, the noodles don’t arrive completely saturated and soggy.

The dining area is small, with enough seating for around 8 - 10 families of four, but the establishment was very clean and had charming, authentic details, including the traditional curtains in front of the kitchen entrance.

“The friendly girl gave me a sample of chicken teriyaki. I wasn't looking for this but it was very tasty. I came back because it was the best option at the food court. 8.99 for 1 meat and two sides. I have to agree that the quantity and the quality of the food make this an absolute bargain.“
