Cooked correctly (rare). Mac and cheese part was good, not super flavorful.- Asian chicken salad was very good, my wife really enjoyed.- bacon washed old fashioned was good, not as flavorful of fat washed bourbon as I’ve had elsewhere. But good drink overall.- not pictured, French toast dunkers which made an excellent dessert at home with great dipping options.The size of the portions really make it worth it, definitely worth checking out. “Twas the night before Thanksgiving....who wanted to go out...?Recently, I was asked what was my favorite italian restaurant on Long Island. Not wanting to be rude, I didn't say "home", I said I don't have one. Well, I was wrong. Franina is MY FAVORITE italian restaurant on Long Island.We have been going to Franina for the past several years. Always a solid meal with expert service. Normally, the restaurant is full and you need a reservation, especially on weekend nights.This night it was very slow. Actually, I think only 20 or so people had dinner during our meal. Sometimes, this can work against you. Not this night, it's part of what made the evening special. We felt that the entire staff was serving us exclusively. We felt special.We met the chef at the bar before our meal. We asked what fish was good, he responded with the usual suspects, bronzino, red snapper, swordfish...the usual. I know he personally made our meal. Perfection.We started with something that wasn't on the menu. Fried shrimp. I had been craving it. Not sure they do it all the time, maybe they did because it was slow. Well, they knocked it out of the park. U10's expertly battered in panko with a side of marinara sauce. Simple, right....not so easy to make extremely well. Hot, crunchy and not over cooked. Sublime.We followed by splitting the pappardelle with veal ragu. Also, surprisingly light. No butter or cream. That would be cheating. For our main, we split the branzino. Wow ! Sauteed and finished with a light dusting of breadcrumbs. Nicely garnished with vegetables and a few roasted potatoes. Again, simple, but hard to execute at this level. Perfection.Franina is the pinnacle of a professionally managed restaurant with seasoned and knowledgeable staff at all levels. It's sort of a ballet where the maitre de greets you and the captain takes your order and waiters bring your food. It's an experience that evokes earlier times ( times I am fortunate to remember as a child ). I am sure they still do table service on some dishes. I haven't seen it, but I'm sure they do. The room is elegant with graciously spaced tables. They have three dining rooms. Private parties would be nice here.Franina is a cut above.Give it a try.“
“My husband and I were in Long Island for a birthday and decided to stop by here to have wings because I was cravings wings. He said these were great and he'd been coming here for some time. I didn't have high expectations based on their ratings but I gave them a shot . I had the mild buffalo wings and they were delicious . Nothing out of the ordinary but they hit the spot ! I wish I had pictures to share but they flew off the plate quicker than I could take my phone out. I think this is a solid wing spot & the service was great too.“

“We tried brunch here for the first time because the menu looked good , and everything was delicious. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice with nice pillows and comfortable seats. The menu for brunch had so many good options I changed my mind 3 times, but was talked into the Gruyère burger with an egg on it. It ended up being one of the best burgers I have had in a long time. The fries were good too. Everyone was very happy with their meals . The drinks were good and the tres leches bread pudding was out of this world.Our waitress was amazing she was helpful and extremely nice.Overall we had an amazing experience and will definitely be back to try some other options on the menu.“
“Always a special night at Grasso's. We've been coming since before the new owners. And it is better than ever. They serve a fresh baked roll with a hint of garlic when you sit down. For entrees, we have had the bone in veal chop twice, both times really large, and excellent. Previously parmigiano and last night with an incredible mushroom sauce, so good. We have had the zucchini linguini every time we dine here since we first tried it. It is all veggies, and all delicious. Ended with decaf coffee and decaf cappuccino, hot and impossible to distinguish from caffeinated coffee. I do not add milk to coffee if the restaurant does it right, which Grasso's always does. Served with biscotti I'm pretty sure came from a good bakery, not a package. Always live music, and where else can you find that on Long Island?“
“This restaurant can lend itself to a very noisy environment. Yet today, with several tables taken, conversation was easy and able to be heard. We have been here several times for brunch and a couple of times for dinner. Delicious salad with greens, grape tomatoes and fresh red onions cut over a chicken milanese. Companions enjoyed their choices of crab cake benedict and a large cubano sandwich served with homemade shoestring fries. Shared their homemade flourless chocolate cakes served with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream. Three happy people after an excellent brunch.“
“I have really loved going there. The only complain would be the side salad. The Caesar dressing is awful and they have no ranch dressing. The steaks are good, but we are from Kansas City, so there's that. The meatloaf and other meals have been very good and we go on a fairly regular basis.“

“My best friend lives in Queens so she and I come to the Onion Tree every other Friday night. I wish this place was closer to me. I live in Yonkers. The food is superb, seasoned extraordinarily. The chicken is fresh, soft and cut into small bites. I always order chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, or chicken tikka pizza. I have never had food that I enjoyed this much and I have tried all foods all over the world. I never get tired of this place. And the food is served quickly and piping hot. “Made a reservation here for restaurant week. Apparently didn't need one. The place has its own parking lot with about a dozen spots. We entered the building which took us into the bar, which was bustling. The dining room was quaint, with some really nice booths and a fireplace that should have been lit. Our server was a good looking young man, pleasant, not overbearing with a sense of humor. We opted to include an additional appetizer of baked clams to our meal, along with the crab cake and winter salad, which I forgot to take photos of. My friend opted for the lamb chops while I had the branzino piccata. Yummy, although the menu never stated that the fish was served over a shrimp risotto. (I'm allergic to shrimp). Only 1 bone in the fish, so I was lucky. Our dessert consisted of tiramisu and rainbow cookie cheesecake. I was "fortunate" to get the last piece although not very cheesecake-y. All in all we had a nice dinner and will maybe return for another meal.“

Everyone was warm, not snobby, and went above and beyond to make my sister's birthday brunch enjoyable for my family. The food focuses on spotlighting the local ingredients and isn't overly fancy. My favorites were the hot fried chicken sandwich, the deconstructed eggplant parm appetizer, and the spaghetti with tomato sauce off of the kids menu (could have used a touch of salt but I think they underseasoned on purpose because it's for kids). The only dish that was pretty underwhelming was the shrimp and grits, which was kind of bland. The decor is also so tasteful and I felt transported to a fancy farmhouse somewhere on the coast of Rhode Island or something. I'll definitely be back!“

“I went to Monroe’s for brunch with a group of 11 people to celebrate a birthday. David and Frank were our servers and they took amazing care of us. Our whole group did the bottomless brunch option and our glasses were never empty because they were quick to refill them. They also continuously checked on us to make sure we had everything we wanted. The food was great! I had the sliced steak sandwich, it was delicious. The french fries and home fries were exceptional and perfectly seasoned. Everyone was happy with the food they ordered. I highly recommend visiting Monroe’s. We will definitely be back!“

The food is scrumptious and the service and ambiance are top-notch. We can't wait to go back! Kim was our waitress. She was very welcoming and gave us recommendations! The garlic bread for the table was delicious. We started off with the grilled flatbread with the mission figs - the flat bread is made in house and was delicious and the toppings were fresh! I got the Romano Crusted Chicken and my boyfriend got the The Herb Crusted Rack of Lamb - both meals were perfectly portioned and fresh. For dessert, we got an apple crisp - very good! “Started going here a little while back for the Subculture nights hosted by Dj Cody and from the first visit knew this was a great place. Johnny the bartender is a great guy and a class act and a really attentive bartender. The service is great here and you never wait a long time to get a drink no matter how many people are there. Along with great service the atmosphere is pretty cool and the nights are always fun. Definitely worth the trip whether you live close or have to travel a bit. “My Wife and I hosted our rehearsal dinner at the Library Cafe, Melissa was our coordinator and she was flawless with the planning, she had answers to all of our questions and understood our budget limitations, adapted to our one off requests and ensured us a great time. The day of event, Mike was our guardian angel, as soon as we got to the venue he had set up our welcome sign and all of our accessories that we assigned to some of our bridal party. He was on top of drink requests, music, and food to the point our guests were complimenting how incredible he was. He ran a 3 person show single handedly with no hiccups. “All the food was amazing. I went in my birthday and ended up getting the French onion soup, deviled eggs and Birthday Sandwich since it was my birthday. I loved that the deviled eggs weren't typical. The yolk that's usually inside was spread underneath the eggs so you could eat it with a spoon or scoop into the egg yourself. The French onion soup was middle of the road but the birthday sandwich was great. I really loved the bacon jam or whatever was on it. The service was great. Would definitely come back and try again.“

We had the chickpea fries as well but I wasn't a fan of those. Our main dishes included the Pappardelle Bolognese and the Branzino. Both seemed expertly crafted. I have no complaints there. They seem to have a solid wine collection so don't worry about finding the right libation to add to your dinner.There were some slight service glitches and some of the staff seemed less than warm, but that could've been a fluke or my perception. We had the Drunk Chicken Sammy with sweet potato tots and the We're Jammin Burger with battered fries. The vodka sauce with burrata elevated the chicken to the next level. The brisket had great flavor, though next time I'll ask for leaner pieces as mine was fatty. Sweet potatoes were just right, not too sweet. Cornbread just ok. Things to know: 1. This place is tiny. There are just 4 bar seats and that's it. 2. Beverage options limited. Coke, sprite, water. 3. The service is amazingly friendly and personable. I didn't get the woman's name behind the counter but I'd go back there just to hang out with her. And it wasn't just me, she was that way with every customer including a 4 year old. You don't need to travel to come here but it's a good stop if you are nearby. Just 2 blocks off the Locust Valley train station.“
“A fun place for lunch and dinner. I was a bit hesitant bring my son who is 3yo, because you just never know if he's having a good day or bad day. But I decided to take the risk and bring him on a mini date because there's only so many visits this mommy can take to Chik-fil-A and it turned out great. He was on his good behavior and tried the mushroom risotto, which I told him was cheesy rice with my short rib and he has a cheese burger and fries. They did forget to put cheese on his burger which he was quick to point out but that was a quick fix, the staff was quick to melt a slice of cheese on his burger and brought it back out quick. My only semi-compliant was a side was small sweet potato smash was $12 which was the same cost of his burger and fries. Otherwise, everything was great, staff was attentive and we had a fun time.
