“The fish and chips we got here was spectacular. We tried the haddock and the halibut. The batter was really nice and crispy without it being too oily. The haddock was very flaky and soft while the halibut was more of a leaner fish. Both were good in their own way. The tarter sauce was a bit unique as it it was on the more sweeter side but it honestly paired well with the fish. Our favorite thing actually turned out to be the chips which had this crisp exterior but a very soft fluffy mashed potato like texture on the inside.“

“I just recently found out about this GEM of a place. I don't normally like rice but, Lilis rice is fabulous as is all of the food here. Generous portions and excellent prices.“

“The halibut and chips were amazing. Great portions and the halibut was meaty with just the right amount of crispiness. Completely the same as another well known classic Scarborough fish and chips spot (which was closed) so we tried this! The service was great. We called in advance and picked it up. The chips are classically cut as you would expect from a great fish and chips place. Fresh and delicious! Great value too.“

“I come here for the poutine! I’ve been coming here since I was 14 yrs - 2014 - the flavour not the taste has changed - hands down the BESTTTT poutine in all of GTA in my opinion!! EVERYTIME I bring a new friend or family here, the poutine gets 100/100 EVERYTIME!!

“Really enjoyed their halibut fish and chips.
Didn’t get a chance to try their haddock so not sure if it’s worth the ~$5 premium but I loved my dish and would definitely go back when in the area and recommend it to others in the area too.
The dining area is relatively small as they only have 2 tables so I’d consider this primarily a takeout establishment but I was lucky to get a seat and enjoy mine fresh.
The lady was kind and took my order over the phone so I didn’t have to wait long to get it was I was in a bit of a rush too.“

“First time at The Halibut House and what a great find! Charlene gave us outstanding service — friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The fish was perfectly crisp on the outside, fresh and flavorful inside. Such a tasty meal. Visiting from out of town and this was absolutely the highlight. Highly recommend!“

“Had been looking forward to visiting for ages, but the restaurant is an hour away from me. Great service. Fish was lovely, chips were delicious and so were mushy peas. Only thing that would have made it better was more selections of diet drink. Interior might need an update soon“

“Jeny was our waitress, her smiley face, & polite & speedy service. Jeny was very attentive. We ordered the Sunday Halibut special, 1 massive piece of Halibut, fries, & coleslaw. Mmmmm, it was amazing. The restaurant is decorated very nicely. The place looks great. It is a great place to eat with good prices.“
