“A colleague recommended the takeout here so we tried the lamb biryani, butter chicken, and stewed egg plant and potato. They were all delicious. It’s a long narrow store with full shelves for your grocery shopping needs too along with a meat counter in the back.“

As it was close to a holiday, we found ourselves in a bind looking for someone to cater the event. Karen was incredible! Although they were booked, she was able to accommodate us and took all the stress and guess work out of organizing food during such a difficult time. She was able to provide me extensive catering options with pricing, quick to respond to my many questions and requests, and able to pull it off with only a 48 hour window.

“I've been going to Matheson Sweets & Catering for ages. They used to be just off Matheson but they moved to this new location about 6-7 months ago. Let me set your expectations right off the bat - it's a traditional Indian snack shop (what we call a "Halwai shop"), not a fancy restaurant. And that's exactly what makes it great.

You know what keeps me coming back? Their samosas. I can't tell you how many times I've picked up a batch for family get-togethers or office events. They're just done right - crispy shell, perfectly seasoned filling. Everyone always asks where I got them from.

The chaats are really good too. If you've never tried Indian street food before, their pani puri, bhel puri, and dahi puri are a great place to start.

One thing to keep in mind - it can get pretty busy in there during lunch time. The staff handles it well though, and they'll always get the job done. Quick tip from a regular: if you're planning to order a larger order, just give them a call ahead of time. It'll save you from waiting around while they prepare everything.

The prices are reasonable, and the quality is consistent. Sure, you might have to wait a few minutes if they're making a fresh batch of something, but - freshly fried Indian snacks are always worth the extra minutes.

Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options here. If you're a vegetarian, you won't have any trouble in finding a suitable option for you to eat.

Parking: There are several parking spots in front and more on the side/back.

Kid-friendliness: There's only a couple of booths available. No child seating available but toddlers can sit in the booth. This is mainly a take out restaurant.

Wheelchair accessibility: Entrance would be pretty hard for someone in a wheelchair.“

After the event, several attendees raved about how good the food was and even asked to take home some of the hot sauce. I would highly recommend eating here and using them for catering based on the high praised recieved, Viv's personable attitude, and, ofcourse, the delicious food.“
