There are 2 subways within 1/2 km from my home but I will travel further to this location 6 kms from my home as their subs are almost always much better than anywhere else. When I request extra toppings I always get extra toppings without them being cheap like at other locations. I prefer to order through the app and pick-up, and they are usually ready on time.“

“Been eating at Cali's since I was a kid downtown at the original location.

I always anticipate a decline in the quality, but they have managed to keep the same experience for as long as I could remember.

It's a tad on the expensive side, but in all honesty, I never leave unsatisfied. I'll go for the veal, at least a few times every month.

No matter how many other places I try a veal, they never really match up how Cali's makes it.

“This subway is my favourite one to go to. They make an in person experience lovely every time. I can’t speak about daytime because I never go in the day, but I can tell you that the evening and overnight employees here are absolutely AMAZING. I don’t often feel compelled to write a review, but over the years whenever I go into this location I actually look forward to it. Please give your evening and overnight employees a HUGE shout out, they’re SO KIND, personable, friendly, everything that any business would want to be represented by. They make a hard day better. I’ve never been somewhere where the employees seem to actually care so much and enjoy working there, they’re always so cheerful. I appreciate that so much. They deserve a raise!“

“We live nearby so we often see this store when passing by, but it wasn’t until I was craving banh mi that we finally decided to give it a try. Glad we did!

We ordered, grilled pork and satay chicken. Both were great and definitely satisfied the cravings. The grilled pork is a kind of sausage, it’s a little sweet and gives filipino longanisa vibes if you’ve had that, but it creates a perfect balance with the fresh veggies. The satay chicken, had a nice level of spice and it also went well with the fresh veggies!

We liked them both so much, we went back in to grab two more sandwiches for take out. We’ll be back for sure since the beef satay was recommended to us to try as well by the kind lady working! Thank you 😊“

Nguyen Huong has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. It’s one of those places that feels like home the second you walk in. My family has been coming here for generations, and the quality, warmth, and authenticity have never changed. It’s a true hidden gem that’s stood the test of time in the best way possible.

The ladies who work and who run the shop are always so kind and welcoming. Their energy and care really shine through in the food. The star of the show for me has always been their classic and chicken bánh mì. It’s simple, satisfying, and just done right. The balance of flavours, the crunch of the baguette, the freshness of the ingredients... it’s exactly what a bánh mì should be. Honestly, I’d say Nguyen Huong are the OGs of bánh mì in the city. No frills, no gimmicks—just consistently amazing sandwiches made with love.

One of my favourite things they offer is their in-house Vietnamese pâté. It’s rich, smooth, and full of flavour. I always grab one to keep in my fridge—perfect for those quiet mornings when all I want is a toasted baguette and some pâté. There’s something so nostalgic and comforting about it. It brings back memories of family breakfasts and weekend lunches growing up.

Their mini chả sticks(Vietnamese sausage) is another staple for me. It’s savoury, perfectly seasoned, and great as a snack or part of a meal. You can tell it’s made fresh and if you’re craving variety, Nguyen Huong has so many other options to choose from. They carry an incredible selection of Vietnamese sticky rice and traditional sweets, all made fresh in-house. Whether you’re in the mood for something sweet or savoury, there’s always something exciting to try.

They also offer a selection of savoury bites like fresh shrimp rolls, fried noodles, and other hot dishes that are perfect for a quick meal on the go. Everything is affordable, flavourful, and feels like something your auntie would lovingly pack for you.

In a city that’s constantly changing, Nguyen Huong remains one of those rare places that holds onto tradition and does it beautifully. Whether you're popping in for a bánh mì, stocking up on Viet pâté, or treating yourself to a tray of sticky rice, you’ll leave happy—and probably planning your next visit before you’ve even finished eating.

A true Toronto classic, and hands down one of my favourite spots for cheap eats with heart.

“Today was the first day I met the woman at the counter. She was super sweet and pleasantly welcomed me when I walked in. She had such a friendly aura and it was very refreshing! I come to this location fairly regularly and the service is always good but she elevated my experience today. The sandwiches were delicious and the cookies were freshly baked! “What a sweet spot to grab some breakfast! We came here to pass some time and decided to try it out! I was delighted to know that some items were allergen friendly and immediately ordered a croissant and a cappuccino. The wait wasn’t very long and the staff were super friendly! I didn’t notice any outstanding decor, it is just your every day modern cafe, super clean thought! The atmosphere is very comfortable and inviting. The croissant is really good, soft, delicate and crispy! One of the best I’ve had! The cappuccino on the other hand was a little underwhelming for me. It was a little watered down for my taste and way too hot for me. I don’t like my coffee scorching hot, so that was a bit of a letdown. Overall, I’d go again for the croissant!“
