“I ordered a cake for my anniversary this year from the vanilla bite. It was honestly perfect. I didn’t know what I wanted so when I asked for a recommendation saying that “I wanted something light and fluffy” and Dannah came through. She recommended her Japanese sponge cake turned strawberry shortcake. It was amazing. Definitely light and fluffy and just the right amount of sweetness. You could taste the flavour of the cake, icing, and strawberries in a complementary way. We will definitely buy another cake from here on our next special occasion. Delivery handoff was perfect too, super professional. Sorry no pictures though… we were too excited to eat it.“

“It's a hit. They're not f in around. Hand rolled puff pastry is the signature, buttery, light and crispy. I had the sausage roll and the chicken pot pie. Both were great. Seasoning on the sausage was flawless with just the right balance of savoury spices without being over powering. Chicken pie was creamy and hearty, if I would critique I'd say they could add more filling volume and salt, but both were satisfying and delicious. Service was lovely, friendly and helpful. They could use a small counter or high top and bar stools though.“

“Mashion has been my absolute favorite Chinese buns restaurant in the entire city for years. they have a lot of variety, the buns are cooked fresh daily, and the service is always very kind. I've been going here for over 5 years and won't stop anytime soon. they're an affordable, delicious, local hidden gem. can't recommend Mashion enough!!

Dietary restrictions: I'm allergic to dairy and can confirm nothing here has ever upset my stomach. There's stuff with cheese I sadly avoid but everything that doesn't explicitly say it has dairy has been fine for me.“

“It was excellent!! The croissants exceeded my expectations - so fresh, warm out of the oven (they restocked multiple times in the 2 hours I was there). The pistachio chocolate croissant is one of the best I’ve had in the city….even better than I expected! It had a creamy pistachio butter (instead of frangipane) and generous dark chocolate. Strong pistachio flavor not drowned out by sugar. The kouign amann was also one of the best I’ve had! A thick gooey layer of caramelized sugar and the classic buttery crunch. And I am still thinking about their toasted marshmallow oat milk latte! I got two and definitely would travel back again just for that! The latte I got somewhere else the next day just paled in comparison. The only thing I didn’t love was the pesto mac n cheese. It was ok but a little bland and did not compare to everything else.

They are definitely a great brunch spot though - they have a pretty large hot food menu and it was easy to walk in on a Saturday at noon. The service could’ve been more attentive - we had to go out of our way to flag down the waiter multiple times, sometimes even getting up to call them. They do have a self serve online ordering system so maybe that’s the expectation, but I much prefer to order in person so I can get recommendations and ask questions. It was also fairly priced for Toronto. For hot foods, if you are looking for egg-free vegetarian the options are mac n cheese or grilled cheese… but the grilled cheese looked amazing so I’d try that next time.

My biggest critique is they have no paper menus, it’s QR codes only yet also no wifi… this seems really off considering many people, especially tourists, don’t have data plans. It was an issue for my dining partner and disappointing for any establishment to make it impossible to order without a self-funded data plan and charged phone. I recommend they store a few pepper menus, but decided not to knock a star for this since the pastries were so good.

Overall, highly recommend for a pastry/coffee and would definitely be back!

Their salad comes with their own home made dressing which is also very yummy. I highly recommend trying their pastries and tarts as well, taking a couple home, they are so good! “I decided to try out this cute little cafe, I saw on my way home. I ordered the cinnamon roll, Weekend quiche, churro and cruffin. Overall, my favourite was the lemon Cruffin, everything else was good as well. I do wish I had asked for the quiche to be warmed. I ordered four items and the total came up to $22. In this economy. I consider that a good deal would highly recommend this café.“

If this place had a storefront, I would probably indulge in their butter croissants every day. Their croissants are ultra-light and crispy, with a flakiness like a shedding tree in autumn. The interior structure is a work of art, a perfect amount of airiness that somehow delivers a powerful punch of butteriness in each bite. Their kouign amann is equally addicting but with a spiral shape, that actually makes it more fun to savour its crisp bottom of caramelized sugar that's not too sweet.

Also got their Chausson aux Pommes - same buttery, flaky and light puff pastry, with a perfect amount of savoriness and strong butter aroma on it's own, and a beautiful golden brown colour. The apples were too soft imo and felt like it lacked cinnamon or any caramelization, but was decently tart and sweet and apple aroma, and the filling to pastry ratio was quite generous, although I would've preferred more pastry honestly to balance out the ratios because all you can taste is apple in some bites.“

Overall very sweet, and it may be a personal preference, but for me both the cake and frosting needed a little salt to balance the sweetness. I would definitely order again!“
