“Let me tell you something...my grandfather told my mother, you cook the sweetest curry. He was right ! I saw a n episode on a sports channel where the wife of an American ? player made a special trip to this restaurant [ institution ] because she said her husband & his teammates only eat roti from Roti Hut and ev'rytime the boys are in town she makes a special trip to pick up a group order for roti. Let me tell you something dot dot dot. I'm no expert. I believe my mother made the sweetest chicken curry. However, I would like to congratulate and salute, Roti Hut, for their food especially the boneless chicken curry. Outstanding ! Near perfect. The meat soft, moist and very, very delicious. I closed my eyes and almost felt guilty. As weee dos say back home ???????? back home, 'Champion' ??. The effing best chicken roti in Toronto. Bar none ? ev'rybody in Roti Hut stand Up & take a bow. Well done ! ? and well worth my hard earned money“

“Seriously delicious flavours, friendly, fun staff, creative cocktails all in a beautiful space. As soon as we walked through the door we we were hit with the sweet aroma of the spices of the Caribbean. The vibe is warm and inviting. I suggested trying this place to some colleagues. As someone from Jamaica I have high standards for the flavours of the Caribbean. Everyone at the table and I mean everyone enjoyed it. Everything is served family style. I don’t eat meat so we enjoyed the fish and vegetarian options. The 6 of us shared the salt cod fritters, nuff nuff slaw, doubles, fried snapper, crab XO, coconut rice and Mac pie. We were full up!! Probably ordered a dish too many but it was worth it. If you’re used to traditional Caribbean flavours you will not be disappointed. I will definitely be back either for a quick cocktail before an event or for another delicious meal.“

“If you’re looking for Jamaican food cooked in a healthy way, head on over to @jerkupcentral ! I ordered the large jerk pork dinner. I enjoyed the steamed vegetables (different from the typical coleslaw), rice and peas and the tasty, lean jerk pork. I washed it down with my favourite @dandgjamaica pineapple soft drink! I rate it 4 1/2 out of 5 stars because I needed a bit more “jerk”. Give me the 🔥, I can take it lol. 🇯🇲 #jerkpork #jamaicanfood“

“Have run by this cafe too many times to count. Glad I finally stopped for a taste. Got kindly talked into the doubles (which he warned me would be messy) and it was absolutely delicious! “So I’ve been trying to come up with the right words to explain the impeccable experience my husband and I had at this restaurant, words can’t do it justice. First impression as we walked in the door was how much it reminded me of back home islands vibes. The owner was present, attentive and overflowing with Caribbean hospitality. The Trini fusion dishes we tried were fantastic. This was such a treat and we loved every second of it. We left there needing to tell the world about the gem we had found. Thank you! “I tried Caribbean Queen Take Out for the first time and went with the fried chicken meal — and let me just say, it did not disappoint! The rice and peas were cooked to absolute perfection, fluffy with just the right balance of coconut and seasoning. The chicken was seasoned properly all the way through, with that true authentic Jamaican taste that’s hard to find. Every bite felt like home-style cooking. You can tell they take pride in their food — nothing bland here, just rich flavors and genuine island spice. 👉 Highly recommended if you’re craving a real Caribbean experience. “I finally was able to attend UMI's Kitchen after so many attempts by UBER and DoorDash as it always says unavailable. I was in the neighborhood and decided to stop by. I thought it was located more east on Dundas but it's actually near Dundas and Sherbourne. Toronto has tried to revive the neighborhood but, it has the same energy. I was lucky as parking is street parking so expect to park and run in to get your order. It looked closed when I got out and the door is not new but, I got in. It isn't a big place but the lady who got my order was pleasant. I ordered a small Oxtail (not cheap no more), side bbq chicken, 1 veggie and 1 beef patty, small chicken soup (good), Pineapple soda. I thought the salad would be handled but no salad like no coleslaw! I was like wow. The food is good. I really enjoyed the veggie patty wish I had gotten three of them. The bbq chicken was nice. Not hot but, it was a great add to my Oxtail meal. I was glad I finally could say I gave this place a try. I am sure others will attend. The area isn't the most desired place to attend but, it's about the food which for this day was my goal.“

“Today, with the beautiful weather, I had a real craving for Jerk Chicken. I checked out Good Vibes and ordered a Jerk Chicken dinner. As I’m writing this, I am savouring the sweet and spicy Jerk sauce that perfectly coats the chicken. The meat is fresh and tender. The rice and beans is just yummy and the coleslaw is a nice cool down. Service was super friendly and love the artwork on the walls. Great music! I’m so glad that I walked into Good Vibes today! “Ate at this spot 2 days in a row since working in the area. Food is really really good! Had the jerk chicken, stew chicken and curry goat. Tony even gave me some of his scotch bonnet hot sauce. Large portions, rice and peas were perfect. Coleslaw was correctly wet and tasty. My favourite was the stew chicken.“

“I've been getting takeout from Mainsha Restaurant on Weston Rd for over a year. This place serves up some delicious Caribbean food with courteous service and congenial staff. The oxtail was the highlight – slightly sweet but bursting with rich flavour and tenderness. The jerk chicken was good, and the spicy beef patties had a perfectly flaky and crisp shell, filled generously. The casual cafeteria vibe of the restaurant wasn't the most inviting, but the food more than made up for it. Overall, a solid spot for great Caribbean dishes.“

“Delicious vegan Caribbean food in the heart of Kensington Market. Veggie D'light hits the spot for lunch on a weekend. I had their meal with jerk saitan, veggies and basmati/quinoa. I asked about the soup of the day and was promptly offered a taste by the friendly chef. Had the medium soup as well--a delicious rich soup with yams and coconut milk. Now I have a new favorite lunch spot.“

“Good Caribbean/Ethiopian restaurant and grocery store on the Danforth. It’s easy to walk by and miss this restaurant, thinking it’s only a grocery store. It’s also easy to walk in and only see a grocery store. They have a small menu with delicious vegan items. I recommend the Injera Thali Plate There is only one table inside and the inside doesn’t have a comfortable dining atmosphere. Takeout is recommended. The staff is very kind and brought us Avocado tea after our meal. Parking is available on the street and in a nearby Green P lot.“

Typical Jamaican restaurant menu with a few unique items and custom drinks. The food was average tasting and well presented. I was educated about the history and how the restaurant was established which was enjoyable. “Gerry's Fine Foods: A Taste of Jamaica (with a pleasant surprise!)
I recently visited Gerry's Fine Foods, and I have to say, their Jamaican patties are absolutely incredible. The crust is a true standout – light, flaky, and wonderfully buttery, providing the perfect contrast to the flavorful filling. And speaking of the filling, it hits all the right notes with just the right amount of spice, delivering that authentic kick without being overpowering.
My only minor critique, when comparing them to some other local spots, is that the filling does feel a bit less in quantity. However, this is easily overlooked when you consider the overall quality.
What truly surprised me was that I had just returned from a trip to Jamaica, and honestly, Gerry's patties were so much better! Go figure! They truly nail the flavor profile and texture.

“For our first night in Toronto for a girls' trip, we had dinner at Chubby's given the good reviews and me mentioning wanting to try the various Caribbean spots during our stay. The decor gives island vibes with the wooden furniture and tranquil color choice for decor. Staff were all pretty helpful, with you waiter being pretty attentive.
For my drink, I ordered the rum punch which was pretty good in the balance of flavorand alcohol content. In terms of food, the portions for my entree (Oxtail Stew) was a little smaller than I thought but or actually worked out well and was enough. The oxtail was cooked down, well seasoned and tender, but I felt like I got a lot of pieces that were just bone or pretty fatty. The other food/Likkle bites I ordered to share with one of my friends were also very good. The Pepper Shrimp definitely had a heavy kick of spice to it and tasty. I really enjoyed the Saltfish (Cod) Fritters - they were tasty, had a good chutney to go with it. The plantains were cooked perfectly so that they stayed soft.
All in all, we had a good dining experience.“
